Hi there. I'm Mark Wills, educator of the loan signing system. I teach thousands of notary public loan signing agents across the country how to build a successful notary business. And every Monday I go live on Instagram to coach notaries one on one. So if you're looking for coaching on how to market your notary business strategies that are working in today's market and find solutions to problems you're currently facing, then these live sessions are for you. In fact, here's the latest episode. Make sure you take notes so you can implement these strategies. And today. What up, girl?
Hello.
How are you? I see that beautiful smile. What's up? What's up? What's up?
Hey, Mark, not trying to make either of us cry right now, but you've been like super inspirational for being so vulnerable, like talking about your childhood trauma and all of that. So for not just for me, but anyone else who's listening, if you've ever had childhood trauma or adulthood trauma, what is your best advice? And overcoming that to like, you know, sometimes that holds us back. A lot of times.
I know, I'm sorry. But like, for me.
So I've been a analysis student for three years, just super part time, and I'm actually pursuing this full time now. But still, you know, sometimes the mindset becomes overwhelming and trauma in our past will hold us back from believing in ourselves. So if you could give me some.
Little advice on that. We're going to cry together. Let's cry together.
Yes. Do it.
So never been asked this on a live. So let me kind of process my thoughts here. The first thing I would say, and by the way, healing is not a, is not a destination, it's a journey. So I healing process. And so, you know, what I say here is from someone who has gone through a lot of healing over the past three years specifically, but someone who doesn't want to sound like he's made it because I have not made it. I'm trying every day to be a better version of me. So I want to make sure I say that because I don't want to make it sound like I know what I'm talking about or I'm healed. And, you know, I'm just going to give you from my experience and hopefully that helps you. Okay, sure. So, you know, the first thing I would say is understanding that we are not who our trauma was. And so what I mean by that is, you know, sometimes we feel internally, you know, we are what the trauma was. And disconnecting that was probably the most important thing in My healing journey. And for me, it was like feeling like I'm enough, like I'm lovable and realizing that like I am not the foster child who got given up and given up and unadopted and adopted. It was really hard for me to realize that that wasn't me. It's part of who I am, but it's not who I am. And I think that's a really big important way of looking at it. And the second thing, what really helped me is really understanding this general advice for our traumas and life is every single memory can be an asset or liability. So what do I mean by that? It's how we choose to look at that moment that reflects how we react to that moment. And so I choose to look at my past as what made me resilient. If I didn't have that resilience, I wouldn't be who I am. And so as painful as thinking about the past is, I tell myself if I didn't go through that, I wouldn't be me. And so. So as much as I wish I would have had a different childhood, I actually don't wish I was somebody else.
Right.
And so because of that, that helps me understand that I'm not who my trauma is. I am, I am lovable, I am enough. I am worthy. And so realizing that like every memory can be an asset or liability, I'm choosing, it's a choice to look at my, my, my events as an asset. That is a decision. There's a research study out that says, are you better off trying to think positively or are you better off trying to stop thinking negatively? Because everyone tells you do positive affirmations. Positive affirmations, right. In which I believe in. But my, my coaching here is what I've learned and what I've learned from my therapist and a bunch of books that I read is learning how to be aware of our thoughts and stopping it is more beneficial than trying to just say, I'm enough, I'm enough, I'm enough. It's remembering that like we, if we can control our thoughts, we can control the healing. And that was my biggest thing in my process is I'm in control of what I think. And so sometimes it becomes habit to have negative self talk. Sometimes it's habit to think we're not good enough. Sometimes it's a habit because that's all we've known. But because it's all we know doesn't mean we can't change change it. The first key is to be aware you're Doing it. And then be like, hey, I'm. I'm better than this right now. And then so stopping that. And the second step is the affirmations. And when I gave my story less power is when I was able to breathe again and when my healing began to start, and when I was able to be lovable and be a better spouse and be a better mentor. And when I started, I didn't share my story until 4 years, 3 years into LSS. I'm not sure if that helped, but you are enough. You are.
Thank you. No, Very helpful. Yeah, it's super. Yeah. Your story is very inspirational and you're very relatable. And I'm sure everyone on here appreciates how vulnerable you are. And thank you. Thank you.
You're so welcome. And so I'm trying to tie it back to business because I'm a business coach. When you go market your business, you're actually protecting the little child, not you. Like, right when you feel like you're about to get rejected, you as an adult can handle that pain. It's the inner child. You can't. And so when you walk into these buildings, you got to realize, I'm gonna be okay. The adult version of you. And so realizing that you walk in and when you're scared of rejection, you are not actually scared of rejection. The younger version of you, scared. And if you can start learning how to separate those two, and I'm not going to say this is going to come overnight, but I want you to understand, like, what's going on in your body viscerally is like whatever the trauma was, adult trauma or child. When you learn that you can separate those two, then you can start building the business. But whenever.
I never thought about it like that. That's. That's really good.
And so when you do this is when growth happens and your business explodes. But remember, it's not you that's nervous. Like, you're an adult. Oh, someone says no, you're like, okay, but it's whatever, move on.
Yeah.
But it's remembering. It's actually not you that's scared of no. It's the traumatized version of you. It's saying no. And I once was told that we should stop using the word trauma. Trauma automatically gives a negative connotation to an experience. What we've had was child experiences, and what we had are adult experiences. When we say trauma, we're choosing to give that experience more weight than it deserves. Did it happen? Yes. How do we heal from. It's the question. But if you can learn to start separating that like you can market your face off. Because honestly, it's just the word. No. You don't care about rejection.
No, I don't.
The younger you may. Does that make sense? The younger you does. But if you can start learning to separate that, then marketing your business becomes easier. And I'll be on the journey with you.
Thank you.
All right.
Thank you so much.
All right. You're welcome. Bye. Alex, my man. What's up, y'? All?
What's up, man?
Are you good? Yeah, you tell me. Look at that background. It looks beautiful.
I'm in a title company right now. This is the office. Well, I know we went live last week and then you told me to go into title companies asking them how we can partner up and service. It wasn't all about me. So I did that last week. So now we're just waiting for results. This week I sent out some emails. Follow ups. This week I intend on going and giving some goodies out. I'm just saying that we're here to network and meet more people. So let's see, that Friday I finished with six closings. So $800.
How does that feel? And you said I made $800 in one day. How does that feel?
Well, it feels great because my story is that I started this in 2020. I had gotten fired. I had no money at all. Two weeks later, I'm making like a thousand dollars day. $2,000. It was crazy because of the refi. Boom. So now I came back to it. I had a job. I had to quit because I love doing closings. I can't stop smiling every time I. I go do closings. I love this place and I love being in this industry.
What is your follow up process?
My follow up process? Well, I sent an email this morning and now I think I'm gonna take some goodies or something. Some cookies, some donuts.
I'm gonna stop you right now. So what I heard from you, as I said, what's your follow up process? And what'd you say to me?
I'm gonna take him some goodies or something?
No, he said, I think I'm gonna do this. That's what you use the word. I think if I asked Calvin what his follow up process was, do you. What do you think?
You tell me that he's gonna do it. He's not gonna think about. He's just gonna go do it.
But more importantly, he has a system to the follow up. So if I say, calvin, what are you gonna do? He goes on the first day I do this. On the third day I do this. On the fifth day I do it. On the seventh day I do this. On the tenth day I do this. And everyone becomes a washer machine. Same thing. It doesn't matter who he meets. And that's where it differentiates the students who make a ton of money and the students that do. Okay, is you need a system. You need to know what you do on day five of every single lead you've ever met. You need to know what you do on day 10 with every system student you've ever met. Does that make sense? Yeah, makes sense. What you need to lose from your vocabulary is I think so. The coaching is tonight start mapping out what your process is. Because the reason we get overwhelmed is because we don't have systems. So the reason you're like Mark, I've talked to 25 realtors, but three of them, all boy made money off of three of them. Because you don't have a system to talk to the 22. So if you want to do $6,000 in a day, you have a system. Okay, so first thing you should be using is some automations, email automations, follow up automation. The CRM loan signing system has all that. You should be having a system on, on, on task reminders. Oh, I haven't talked to this person in eight weeks. I do this like all this needs to be followed up with. So remember, because a lot I'm gonna end with this so everyone, everybody's hearing me on this live. A lot of people think the initial contacts, the most important it is not, it is actually the least important. It is the follow up that closes people. Because most people won't use you day one, they'll use you week three if you do the appropriate thing. But remember, people don't get successful on accident. It's with intention. See, a lot of people make money early because they're gifted at the gift of gab, right? They're, they're, they're natural born salespeople, which you are. But the reason they don't scale is because they don't have systems. Did that coaching make sense?
Understood.
Oh, Dean. The one and only. My man. What's up brother?
Oh, not too much. The LSS Nation is working the list big time. I'm in an attorney state, North Carolina. I feel like I've basically reached my limit as far as how many I can find that are actually willing to go because there's so many other notaries around. The competition is fierce. It seems like kind of on What.
I just talked about, business is mindset. So the moment you feel like the competition is winning, you've already lost like me. So every business in America has competition, Dean. If you opened up a Chevy dealership, then there'd be like, there's other ship. Like, so we should assume there's competition. Like, I don't know, it was like, oh, Mark, there's other notaries. I'm like, did you think there was not going to be other notaries? So My point is 90% of business is my set, 10% is X's and O's. And so someone who I would say is a more successful loan signing system student. And what I love about you, Dean, is you're always on here trying to get better there. You're always staying close to the coaching. And so I want to make sure I say that because you're an inspir. I want people to be inspired by this. You're an assigning service, but you're still taking the coaching. So the question isn't. You should never even be stating. What I would say is the obvious. Of course there's competition and there should be fierce competition. So that should be your baseline. So the question is, because the moment you say that, Dean, and everyone else listening is the moment you get a little discouraged. And discouragement is the enemy of success, not failure. My job to help you just get rid of that. Like assume there is. Like I want everyone to assume there is. And so there's a lot of competition, like next topic. But the moment you start saying that is the more discouragement bills. When you discourage this bill, you've already lost.
Well, and I mean I'm following up with them. I mean I definitely have a follow up system. But I guess my question is what are your thoughts on and how would somebody perhaps reach out nationally to like smaller offices, things like that? I mean when someone is national, how would.
Yeah, let's stop. You, let's stop here. Okay, good, good. Great coaching. So Tampa is where Calvin is. He's the number one student in America, right? And so the point is, is now he's national. He cold calls, but that is the last thing you do.
Okay.
So the next thing you do is just build your radius. So he just went from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale. Now he would just take the hour, hour and a half drive time dropping some would hit there, huh? He would hit 15 title companies in one day. Why? Because he was super organized. So before he took the out the day off, he get all 15 on a sheet. He then Google mapped It so he knew exactly what direction he was taking. And so then the follow up emails are always going to be more powerful because they did face to face. So if you truly believe that your area has been saturated with your marketing efforts, the answer isn't going to cold calls. That's not the answer. The answer is to build your radius a little bit more and just get very organized with that process. So I don't know what the next major city is from you, but that's the answer. Because your emails will be more powerful when they've seen Dean. By the way, same thing with Molina. Molina was in Miami. You know what she did? She got, she went into Calvin's territory. Oh, don't tell me about fierce competition and going into the lion's den. Right. So the answer isn't how do I cold call yet. I think you're not even there yet. That actually happens when you're going outside of North Carolina. I think what you do is just get organized with going an hour, hour 45 outside and you're spending a day. Then when you follow up by phone, you're not some super random like, oh, as dean, I was the one who came by last month. Whatever. Just following up. I know we're about to enter a refi boom. Here's what I'll say to you, Dean, on the way out of this conversation is be patient. What I mean by that is you've already been extremely patient. Israel hit a refi boom and so the boom will make them without a doubt figure out who the backups are. So, you know, so what I mean by that is I do not believe the current efforts in vain because of the boom that's coming down the pipe. And I do believe we'll drop down to low fives as is. And so.
Absolutely.
My point, low fives. We're still in a boom, dude. So just, just, just continue to do what you do so well, which is effort and patience. Now I just think you go a little bit farther than your, your, your, your current radius of driving. Get this should really come to fruition for every LSS student. I mean, we see left and right, you know what I mean?
Yep, absolutely.
But anyways, I hope that helped a little bit. I gotta jump to the next do the organization. I'll be here whenever Monday you need me, brother. All right, man. Talk to me, bro.
All right. Things have been going good. I mean like doing, you know, a lot of, a lot of last minute assignments where they just give it to me and I have absolutely no time to prep or even look at the document.
First off, I'm proud of you. Why am I proud of you? Like I just feel a different energy and like I feel you happy and smile. I literally is the key. You can't make someone else believe what you don't believe. You can't give good energy if you're not feeling good energy. So doc, proud of you bro. Let's just talk about what you want. I want everyone to hear this and I want to remind you, I think you know this, but I just want to remind you and remind everybody watching the reason you get last minute appointments. Those are gold to new notary public loan signing agents. Why the only reason I can look you in the face and tell those business for you is because they're go to notaries already packed. So when a new notary public loan signing agent with that not that much experience has been marketing and then they see oh my gosh, we can't fill this. Then you get the last minute signing. So last minute signings are good. As you start getting more experience, you're eventually going to turn down those last minute signings and then the next notary who's new will get what Eric turns down. Right. So I want you just to keep a good mindset of like oh I love the last minute signings. Because this is why a new note with limited experience can actually make money in this industry. Because if they gave every notary eight hours to prep, then there would never be new business for new notaries. Makes sense.
The questions that actually one just popped up like while well right before this, this started and everything I just got an assignment that 80% of it is, is in English and then some of it is in Spanish. And I do not know and I, I know that from the training I know that you can do like you can like because you're not actually reading the document.
So all you say it's a good question. So your job is never to explain anyways. It's not our job. We can summarize but we can't explain. Remember as a notary all you're saying is I witnessed you sign this. That's it. We're not lawyers. So all you're doing is like do you want to sign this? It's up for them to interpret it themselves. So assuming that now when you're making the appointment I would make sure that they speak English so you can make the conversation of a. My job is to make sure you know where to sign. It's your job to understand what you are signing before you go when you're confirming the appointments to make sure they speak English if they don't. Now, as a notary, our job is to ensure we can communicate to each other in the same understanding language.
Okay?
So if you call up and say we can't even communicate, then you probably shouldn't take the same signing.
All right?
Hey, good work. I'm proud of you, dog. Till next time, Deuces. I'm gonna wrap up this. It's one o'. Clock. The mortgage rates are dropping, period. I don't teach you to be a signing service notary. Yes, work for signing services, but you should be all going direct. Use the scripts in the course. Talk to realtors, talk to lenders. We're about to hit a refinance. Boom. Get to work. If you have any help at all, make sure you comment the word job. I'm here if you need me. With that being said, I'm out. I love you, and let's make some money. Bye, everybody.
