So you want to be a notary public loan signing agent, but you don't know the supplies you need. Here they are. The first thing you need is errors and misses insurance. It's always my recommendation you get $100,000 worth of coverage. Most title companies expect that and if you want to be Snapdocs verified, they will also expect $100,000 worth of coverage. The second thing you need is a dual tray laserjet printer. That is probably the largest supply cost you'll need. However, there's an asterisk on that. If you choose to work for signing services, they're going to email you the loan docs and then you have to print them. If you choose to get business directly from real lenders, escrow officers, title officers, they will actually print your loan docs for you. Therefore, you actually do not need a dual trade printer. If you choose to work for signing services, then you're going to need paper for your dual trade printer. So make sure you get legal size paper and letter size paper. Having a dual tray laserjet printer is a necessity. That is not an inkjet printer and it makes your life easier. Meaning you will print letters and legal paper. It'll automatically do that for you. Remember, if you're not going the signing service route, you do not need paper or dual tray laserjet printer. You'll then also need your notorial supplies. Per your state, you're going to need a notary stamp that's reproducible. That's why embossers are not legal. Ideally black. Some states allow blue. I always recommend getting a black stamp. The next thing you're going to need is a notary journal. Most states require a journal and a thumbprint pad to put a thumbprint inside the notary journal. Some states require that. Some don't always follow your state laws, but most do. Outside of that, that is easy peasy. That's all you need. So your notary stamp, a notary journal and notary thumbprint are the three notorious supplies you'll need to be a loan signing agent.
