Yay! Hello, Mark. I'm really, really well. Hi, everyone.
And so lovely to have you here because obviously I've wanted to have you on the podcast for so long. People have been messaging me and begging for me to get you on the podcast for a while now. And I know a lot of the people that message actually came to your wonderful workshop at Manifest a few weeks ago as well. So how did all of this come about for you then? Like, how did fairy magic first come into your life, and what happened that made you realize that this was the path you were meant to follow?
Yeah, so first of all, I just want to rewind to Manifest and give a huge shout out to you. That event was— is incredible. The workshop, I thought, he's put me on at quarter past 9 in the morning, nobody's going to come. They were queuing up, and it was full. I mean, we couldn't get any more in, so thank you for that and everybody that came. It was incredible. It was such a beautiful workshop and an amazing event. I stayed and enjoyed most of it on the Saturday, and, um, yeah, it was incredible. So, okay, let's go back, back, back, back, back to my earliest memory, which was when I was a little girl. So when I was a little girl in my grandmother's garden, she loved flowers. She would always be pruning her roses and the petals would fall down to the ground, and I'd scoop them all up, put them in a pot, add some water, mush them all up, and I would be creating— well, it was perfume for the flower fairies, but in reality it was rose water. And I would leave it out every night— well, not every night, but whenever I did it— in between my Nan's garage and the neighbour's garage. So you could call it like a liminal space. And I'd leave it there, and then the next day I'd go check and it would be gone. It would have evaporated. And I knew in my young, innocent heart My ego hadn't kicked in. I was too young for that. I just knew instinctively that the fairies had received my offering, my innocent offering, and that they were real. It wasn't even a question for me. I'd never questioned it. I would perceive them as tiny points of dancing light, and many of us get this, like, was that a flicker out the corner of my eye? We all get it, or many of us do. And sometimes it's like, is that a fairy? Is that Is that a spirit? Is that an ancestor? Is it an angel? The lights are very different, and with fairy lights, these are like dancing, all different electric type of colours, and what they're doing is they're penetrating from their dimension into our dimension, and those are what we're seeing when we see the points of light. So, this has been with me, like, since I was a little girl, and it wasn't— I just accepted it as normal, as natural, supernatural, if you like, And then when I became a teenager, I went through my rebellious stage, as many of us do. Mine was especially rebellious, I'm gonna say. I was into all the punk, post-punk, and gothic, and all looking all really hard and tough, but inside I was, I've always been soft as slush, like really soft-hearted, but it was this image, this persona. And I remember thinking, I don't know if fairies are cool actually, and I don't know what I'm going to do about this, and maybe there's something wrong with me. I'm seeing all these lights, are they real or is there something wrong? So I went to the opticians. I didn't say, "Hey, I think I'm seeing fairies." I just said, "Can I have an eye test?" I had 20/20 vision, perfect vision, and that for me was confirmation that what I was seeing was real, although I knew intuitively, instinctively that it was real, that they were real. And I thought, okay, they're not going away, they're here now to stay, so I just have to accept them as a part of my life. And I would express my connection to fairies with— I'd wear like a black tutu and black wings. It was all very gothic kind of fashion, but it was still expressing my connection with the fairies. And it's just evolved, and the more mature in human years that I've become, the softer I've become energetically and with the way I express myself creatively. Like with my little flower crown and my wings, it's like a nod to the fairies and the elementals and a reminder for us to connect back into nature because fairies are guardians of nature primarily.
Yeah, I think when most people hear the word fairy, they almost picture something like Tinkerbell. You know, how would you describe fairies to someone who's completely new to the subject then? Do you think it's just those little glimmers of light that you were talking about just there? Or are they actually physical beings?
So fairies can— they're magical. Fairies are magical beings, and they can express and present however they wish. So sometimes they will present themselves in that kind of typical Tinkerbell-esque style, and sometimes they'll present— and more often to me, I perceive them as like faces in trees, and they would be like tree fairies, uh, or tree dryads, you would call them. Or a gnarly little leaf or an acorn or something, and you'll think, hang on, there's a face in that, and you look again and the face is still there because fairies are intertwined with nature. There's no separation, and the fairies are guardians of everything that grows. So the plants, the flowers, the crystals, the mount, every single thing they are part of. So everything will have a living— we call it a fairy spirit. It's a life force. And we use the word elemental as the umbrella for all of this, they can present in many, many different ways. So there are no rules. I think it was during the Victorian times that they were presented as more kind of twee, cutesy little fairies, which is fine. Some people are really averse to that, but I feel like if it makes your heart happy and it makes you feel uplifted, then nobody's hurting anybody with the way they connect and address to fairies. All that matters really is that we show our love for the environment. That's all the fairies care about really.
What's the biggest misconception that people tend to have about fairies then?
Well, a lot of people say don't, don't contact fairies, like you, you just don't, don't go in the fairy ring, don't, you'll be away with the fairies. And I literally am away with the fairies all the time, but the importance important thing is really is to always be grounded. So I have one foot in the earth, on the earth, and one foot in fairyland. So especially when I'm teaching and I'm sharing workshops and manifestations and going away with the fairies, I have to be here too. So I feel like I, I'm kind of multi-interdimensionally multitasking. Wow, that was a lot of long words for me in that short space of time. So it's I think a misconception is that a lot of people say fairies are scary and don't connect with them and, and they'll do things to you like trip you up in the woods. And sometimes they will do that, but they'll do that if you are not respecting the space. So ultimately it's about us respecting nature, and the more we respect nature, we're showing our respect for them. And, and they'll be kinder to us. But it's not an exact science, and that's the thing I say. It's like the fairy path is not for everyone because some people want a direct, straight, I'm doing this and this will happen and that will happen. It's not like that with the fae, with fairies. And the beauty of it for me is that it's spontaneous, it's magical, it's creative, and you never know what metaphorical fairy doors are just going swing open for you. Like when you invited me to Manifest, that was a magical fairy opening for me. And it's like, I hadn't been to Newcastle. I thought Newcastle was near Manchester. So when I looked at the train, it was like 9 and a half hours on the train, but my heart was pulling me there. And I had such a beautiful connection with this lady on the train who got on at Penzance, where I live, and she had canceled her train the day before to be on my train, and she got the seat next to me, and she was a— oh, I can't remember what she did. It was something really— uh, it's gone. It'll come back to me at some point, but she was very, very— well, she said something. Sorry, I do digress, and that's what the fairies do. It's like, I'm here, but I'll always come back to the question. You gotta stay with me on this. So she, um, she said— she was sitting there, and I— you don't know if people are spiritual or open, I remember seeing, oh no, the seat next to me is reserved. Who am I going to be sitting with? I kind of immediately jumped to the negative thinking, oh, it's going to be somebody that I'm not going to connect with. I— you just have this feeling. Anyway, she sat down and I thought, she seems quite nice. And then she said, yeah, it's just when you open up to the universe, she just said— and I went, green flag, like loads of green flags. And I said, did you say open up to the universe? And she said, yeah. I said, we're on the same page. And she said, I know. So that was it. 3 and a half hours we chatted for on that journey. And I was— she bought— I think she bought all of my oracle decks. She's like, where are you? I want to get it. Or while I was sitting next to her, I wasn't selling it, I was just chatting about fairies. So it's just really lovely, like that magical— and that's because of you, because if I wasn't coming to your event, I wouldn't have met her and that magic wouldn't have happened. So it's all like these doors within doors and magic just happening and manifestation and beauty, and it's so wonderful.
I love that story. And something else that you mentioned as well, that saying, being away with the fairies, I've never once clicked that that's what that meant, like being away with the fairy magic kind of thing and being intertwined with them.
Yeah, so also you've got the term airy fairy as well, which is, which is like away with fairies, airy fairy. In fact, I know when we're not, I always say don't share your dreams until they're they're ready to sign the contract, la la la. But I'm going to share this dream because I have spoken about it before. My eldest son is a pilot. He's a captain of a commercial airline. And my dream was to start up my own airline and call it Airy Fairy, right? And have all the, the, um, the— what are they called? Stewards and stewardesses all dressed up with like little fairy wings. And I mean, I would go on that plane. I would definitely go on that plane. I know lots of people that would. So that's the future kind— I need to talk to Richard Branson about that. Yeah. And I believe it can happen, definitely. Watch this space.
So you talk about working with fairy energy. So what does that actually look like in everyday life? How do we work with fairy energy?
Yeah, that's a really good question. So to work with fairy energy, we have to connect with nature. Hopefully most of us are able to do that, to be outside physically in nature. Get to a green space, get to a tree. And if you're not able to, because not everybody is able to— some people are in cities, they're at the top of tower blocks, and they don't have access to nature— so either get yourself a potted plant, because there will be a fairy energy with that plant. Everything that grows is connected to fairies. Or what you can do is watch videos online that are nature videos, gentle music, and connect in that way. But by far the best way is to actually physically be in nature, ideally barefoot as well, because when we connect barefoot to the land, we're creating an electric— well, an electric charge happens, and we become charged, and we become connected to the Earth even more so. So therefore, we are more connected to fairies.
Oh, so are fairies something that choose us, or can anybody just build a relationship with them?
We all can build a relationship with them, and when I speak, I often, I always say, I am not the chosen one. I'm not the only one. I have my personal connection through my experience, and each of us can have our own. I'm not the only fairy whisperer. There are many. There are many people that do, but not many that want to talk about it in such an open way for fear of ridicule, because people do sometimes have a funny reaction, but that makes me laugh now. Like, I read the comments on some of these things and it just— I think, well, you've taken the time to comment on me, like, that's great, I welcome that, because anytime my name is uttered, that will transform and transmute into abundance and good energy for me. I've got a real whoosh of energy as I've said it. So, people can say what they want, they can think what they want, but it'll all be transmuted into positive energy. And, um, and we can all do that. That's just not me, that, that's not only just me, everybody can do that. And it's just really beautiful, like, it's just a fun— for me, it's mostly fun. I have encountered the, the kind of more mischievous fairies which people often talk about, and that is what they use as a deterrent for people to connect. So they'll be like, I'm not connecting with fairies because they can be cheeky and mischievous. Yes, they can, but it is how we approach it, and we can all each individually form our own friendship with the fairies, and that will look different for everybody. Yeah, for me, I'm just so far along the line now, they're not going anywhere. And whenever I have a reading, which is quite rare, but when I have a reading with someone, I always go to people that I don't know that don't know me, and they'll say, you've got a lot of fairies around you, haven't you? Like Yes. Like my, where I live is full of fairies. I can feel them. It's not just one or two, it's like a whole team of fairies. And they get really excited when we open to them. Yeah. Because they don't have the, they can manifest in a physical form, but that takes them a lot of energy. They are etheric beings, they're energy. But we have a physical body, so we can actually do things like sign petitions or pick up litter or whatever. So, they get really excited when they know that we can hear them. They can get very excited and very bossy. Like, my fairies can be really bossy. And I think at this point, it's also important to say we don't have to do what the voices tell us to do. Like, we have to tune in to our intuition, remember that we are sovereign, and we have choice, and we have free will whether we do the things. Now they told me to start my festival, the Three Wishes Fairy Festival, clearly told me to start it. I'd been organising little spiritual events to raise funds for my children's playgroup many years back, in mid-'90s this was, and I had quite a good reputation. They were only little events, but you know, it was, my reputation was building. And then the fairies say, you must organise the festival, it must be at the time of Midsummer, really, really bossy. And it wasn't, my own voice, because some people might say, "Oh, the voice is in your head," but I am mature enough to know the sound of my own voice. And also, when the fairies communicate telepathically or when they whisper, you're feeling it as well as perceiving it telepathically. So it's like a full body, like, this is a different energy coming in.
Sorry, I was just going to say, this is the 20th anniversary of your Three Wishes Fairy Festival this August as well, isn't it? 20 years, that's incredible.
It's— I can't believe it, and I never say I can't believe it, but I literally— how did I get here? I have no idea, because each event I'm like, this is the last one, I can't do it again, it's too much. It's like giving birth, it's like, oh my gosh. But, and, and sometimes it does, it does get a lot. I mean, you're an event organizer, you know only too well the pressures that, you know, on the surface it looks all sparkly and glamorous and but underneath we're paddling away like swans, isn't it? That, that saying. And, um, it's a lot to carry, it really is. And there have been times when I've said, I literally can't do this anymore, and if you want me to do it, give me a sign. And they always give me the signs. And if you want me to do this, put the right people around me, and the right people just come around. So it is, it is trusting. There are no guarantees, there are no contracts where I'm going to get this, this, and this if if I do this, this, and this, it doesn't work. It's purely about trust. And that's what they told me, you have to trust. Because I said, you want me to announce a festival without any, any venue? I've never organized a festival before. And they said, yes, just trust. And I was like, okay, I did. And, and I, within 2 weeks of that, this happened in— so I was all good, started organizing events in mid-'90s, and they spoke to me in 2005, I think it was, around that time. Yes. And the first festival happened in 2007. And what happened was I— one of these metaphorical fairy doors opened, and I was introduced to a guy who had his own land that happened to have a stage and all the infrastructure there for a festival. And he took a punt on me, really. He, he just— I spoke— he became my manager of the festival for many years. He retired a couple of years ago. And I said, why did you say yes to me? And he said, because I thought you were beautifully bonkers and it sounded like fun. And I was like, and it has been, hasn't it? And he's like, yeah. So it's just amazing how when you say yes, and this isn't just with fairies, it's to life, isn't it? When you say yes to life, life says yes to you.
Yeah.
And I said no for so many years, especially about fairies, when the media would come to me and I'd be like, nope, nope, nope, nope. I just didn't want to. My ego was just full on trying to protect me.
Yeah.
And then it got to the point and I thought, what if I turn this around and just say yes to everything unless I get a really strong gut feeling that is no. Just say yes, see what happens. And my life has been a beautiful fairy roller coaster since then, and I wouldn't change it, and I'm not planning on changing it anytime soon.
I love that. Be true to who you are. Are there any certain places then where fairy energy is naturally stronger? Because I know you mentioned obviously about nature and woodlands, but what about like gardens or ancient sites? Like, or are they found absolutely everywhere? Because you spoke about, you know, houseplants and things like that. Like, I honestly, my house is like a houseplant graveyard at the moment. I don't know what I do, but every time I get a plant, they're with me for about a month and then they start withering and dying. And I'm always feeding them, always watering them. But are there certain places where that fairy energy is naturally stronger?
Yeah, there are places where it's naturally stronger. So also fairies were in, we're going way, way back, they would inhabit everywhere on the land. But as humankind has come in and started chopping down the trees and ruining the forest, etc., etc., we all know what's going on, they have retracted or, you know, gone back a little bit. And that's also where I think the fairies at the bottom of the garden phrase comes in as well. They've retreated to those areas, the, the more wild places. So where I live in Cornwall, which is part of the reason why I love it, is there are a lot there's a lot of wildness here, and fairies love the wild places where nature can just do its own thing. And it might look messy to some people, but that's na— nature's beautiful in its glorious mess, if you like. And the fairies love to inhabit those places. They will also be around certain sacred sites, and we can invite them in. You can invite them in by having like a little fairy door in your garden. I wouldn't recommend having it in your house, although I do, but that's after I've already connected with them. And the reason for that is that a door is a portal. A fairy door is a portal. Once you open it, I'm not responsible for that. So, and, you know, and it's really hard to get them to go back in once they're out because they love being around people and they just love it. So, that's one way, but also, so it's, it remind, when you said sacred sites, it reminded me of an experience that I had, if I, if we have time to share that quickly. So, I was reading a book about ley lines, and in this book, it said that there was a place in France called the Dolmens de la Fée, which is basically the Stones of the Fairies. And I said to my partner at the time, "Let's go there, and I'm going to meet the fairies of France." And so we drove there in his van, we got the ferry, we drove, and we arrived at this place. I am I'm putting it in a nutshell because it's a lot longer story. We drove there and we arrived very late at night, but it felt a little bit eerie. It didn't feel like warm and welcoming. It felt a little bit, "Oh, this is interesting." And as we got out of the van and we walked towards the stones, I heard the loudest "No!" telepathically that I have ever heard in my life. And it literally stopped me in my tracks, and my partner's like, "What's going on?" And I said, 'No, we cannot move any further, we can't go any nearer.' And my instant thought was, 'Do you know who I am? I'm the Fairy Lady, I'm the Fairy Whisperer, I've come all the way from the UK to see you and you're telling me no?' That was my ego coming in, but it was very powerful, this 'no.' And I thought, 'Okay, obviously I'm going to respect that.' So we went back to the van and I said, 'Let's get away, let's get away from here.' And we drove for about half an hour only to be back at the same place again. And I said, okay, that's fine, we'll just go in the other direction. We did it again and we arrived back in the same place again. And I said, okay, we're not meant to leave here, but we're not meant to go in there, which is typical fairies, they're full of conundrums and riddles and playing. So we slept in for the night, we parked up in the van, we slept there, and then it was about 5 o'clock in the morning I heard the voice, "You can come now," and I woke up and I thought, "You are joking me, it's 5 o'clock in the morning," and I tried to ignore it and go back to sleep, but I knew I couldn't. Like, that was my invitation from the fairies. So, I said to my partner, I said, "They're saying we can go in now." He went, "What?" And I was like, "Yeah, they're saying it and we can't deny this invitation, we have to go." So, we got out of the van, we walked towards the stones, and it was like a completely different energy. It was open, it was warm, it was welcoming. And we went inside the dolmen stone, the Dolmen de la Fise. We went inside the stone, we sat in there, and some music came through. We channeled some music, we wrote some music which we actually put on an album called— and it's called— the song is called Dolmen de la Fise. And I meditated and I asked them, why did you say no? And what I got back was, if somebody knocked on your door in the middle of the night, are you gonna welcome them in without really knowing who they are, or are you gonna scan them and check them out? And I thought, okay, that makes sense. And then I also found out that there'd been a lot of teenagers who'd been drinking and not respecting that sacred space, so they were very wary of humans. And it taught me a great lesson in humility, and also just, I do respect sacred sites anyway, but it just gave me this extra layer of, yeah, we need to be aware and conscious of this. So always be respectful and listen to whether that land actually wants us to be physically there. Because sometimes, especially with our egos, we could, like I did, I traveled from another country and I was like, why aren't I being welcomed by the fairies? But it was understandable when I was explained why, when they explained to me why that happened. So yeah, that was an interesting, um, yeah, interesting story that happened.
I was going to ask you about communicating, actually, because you also work with oracle cards quite famously as well. So how do fairies communicate? Through cards, signs, synchronicities? What kind of things should we be looking out for?
So yeah, you're right, I've written a few decks. I've lost track of how many decks. I've got a new deck coming out. I haven't got the actual box yet because it's so new, but I've got a flyer of the COVID It's called the Enchanted Realms Oracle. My first deck was— this is a baby version of it— the Oracle of the Fairies. I've got a mermaid deck and a Manifesting with the Fairies deck, which is what I was using when I was at your event. So the, the way that we can do it, we do— we don't need cards. I'm obviously— I want to promote my cards, but we don't need cards to connect with fairies. But they are a great tool to do it in because it's more— you're creating a bit of, um, I don't want to say a distance, but a way that we can interpret what they are wanting to communicate with us in a more impartial way. Because when we get too personal we— that can colour our communication. We can obviously just do it directly, there's nothing wrong with that, but especially if we're starting out, then the oracle cards are a great way to do it. And my cards have been fairies, mermaids, and this new deck, the Enchanted Realms, is about all the different types of fairies. So I was mentioning about the, the faerie in the tree, the tree dryads, and there's Green Men, and there's Pegasus, and there's elves, and there's all sorts of things in here. I'm not going to go through them all. There's a fae angel, so there are hybrid fairies. So, I kind of identify a lot as what I call a mer-fairy, half mermaid, half human, and that feels in alignment for me. No, I was totally wrong. Half fairy, half mermaid, half human, that's 3 halves. Maths is not my forte. So I feel like I've got all of those energies in me. I know I am away with the fairies sometimes, but I do make sense to me.
I love it. I absolutely love it.
So we can use cards the way— see, people say there's no power in the cards, but I know that there is power in my cards, and other people who've bought them know that too. And the reason that I know is because whenever you're shuffling, especially my first deck, is that they will fly out or jump out, and people are always telling me, "It happens, it always happens to me." It's like they're imbued with the energy, and it's playful, it's fun, and the, the, the, not, yeah, the answers that we receive through the cards, mostly they're gentle and they're uplifting, but sometimes they do need to kind of give us a bit of a wake-up call too, but it's always in a positive way. And when I wrote my mermaid deck, I was going through a really challenging time in my life, and I had to write this deck, and I went down to the beach every day and connected in with the oceanic energy, the mermaids, and it just downloaded. It was really beautiful and quite quick, actually. And they were like a navigation point for me during that time. So, The mermaid deck, which is called Messages from the Mermaids, will help you to navigate any emotional heart situation, any situation, with positivity, gentleness, but diving deep, literally, into that heart space. So they're, they're very different from the other decks, but, but equally needed. It's— we all need different things at different times, whereas the Manifesting with the Fairies deck is all about what we're going to manifest. It doesn't have to be physical things. We might want to manifest more peace, more love, more joy, or we might want to manifest a car. That's fine. We might want to manifest a house. We're humans, we need physical things too, or material things. So it's really okay. And, um, and this deck, as I said, it goes into all— not all the different types of fairies, because there wouldn't be enough cards, but many of the different types of fairies and fairy creatures. So I'm really, really excited about this deck coming out. So, because people are always asking me about pixies, elves, gnomes, ad infinitum, and I'm like, I don't have time to talk about all the different individual types of fairies because at the end of the day, they're labels that we put on them, the same as we put the label fairy on the earth spirit, on the nature spirit. There's all different labels and I really don't want to get caught up in the intellectual side of it because connecting with fairies is really what you do through your heart and your presence. By being present, that's where the fairies are. They're in the now, they're in the moment. So if we can join them in the moment, then we've got more of a chance of really truly connecting with them and feeling them.
And that new deck is out in August as well, isn't it? Around about the same time as the 20th anniversary of your Three Fairies Festival.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm actually having my launch party I'm having a fair— in-person Fairy Tea Party launch party for the deck at my festival. That is many dreams coming true for me all in one go. I'm not quite sure how I'll be organising and doing the launch, but as you know, once the event comes, most of the organising's done, and I do have a great team as well. So I'm really excited to be in person with people, but also the people that can't because there are people in different countries, I'm doing an online launch party too for it. So yeah, it's, um, I'm really, really, really, really excited, and it's coming around pretty quick, isn't it?
Yeah, it's absolutely flying by. Well, congratulations on that. Um, do fairies have lessons for us beyond manifestation and magic? Like, are they trying to tell us anything about humanity right now, do you think?
Yeah, yeah, they definitely want us to connect with the Earth and be— a lot of us spiritually minded people are connected with the environment and are aware that we're not separate from nature. We are nature. And there are many people that aren't that way as well. And the fairies want the people that can hear them and perceive them to not preach. It's not about preaching, it's about leading by example. So even though it is magical, it is fun, you can manifest, and it is always on their terms, by the way. They're not genies. Like, we can't say, I want this. We can say, I would love this, and they'll inspire us with ways to get it, or they'll put people on our path. Or we'll get what we need rather than what we want, and that happens a lot in life, doesn't it? So it's— they— we can do things like really simple things like picking up litter when we're out, and we might think, well, this is one bit of litter, the world's a mess, what, what's this gonna— what difference will it make? But it will make a difference to your area. And I always say, look after your own doorstep, keep your own doorstep clean, your own immediate environment, and if we all do that, then that will spread around the world. And things like, really, to me it's obvious and practical, like swapping out the harsh chemical things that we often use in our homes for more environmental products. That's a really simple way. And I know it sounds like, oh, that seems a bit mundane and boring, but we do have to be practical with it as well for the fairies to really— we can say that we love fairies, but we have to kind show that we love them. I'm not talking about worshipping, worshipping them. They're equal but energetically on a different dimension. Their job is to look after the land, putting it that in layman's terms. We honour them as guardians of the land. We don't worship them. They, they are funny though. They definitely are funny. It's not like— I work with angels as well. It's a very different energy. I love angels because they're more like predictable in a way. I can hear laughter. When their lights come in, the angel lights, they come in as really big and pulsing and usually blue or sometimes green, but they're a very, very different energy. Sometimes gold and white. Fairies, no, they're all over the place, dancing around. It's like a completely different energy. And I feel like because we're on the Earth, It's not even a conscious thing now. It's just happened since I was a little girl. So I just naturally attune with that energy. I am aware of spirit guides, ancestors, angels, or cosmic beings as well. But I fully am in alignment with the fairy energy at this point in my life. And nothing is forever, so that could change. But I, I'm, they're laughing again. I don't think it will change. Not in this lifetime.
I was going to say, because I think, you know, there is a real connection, isn't there, between fairies, nature, and our well-being. But it's almost like we've got so caught up in our modern world that it's just— yes, it's just faded away. So for people who already work with crystals or angels or manifestation, like I know you deal with all of those, Karen, like how does fairy magic complement those practices?
Yeah, that's another great question. So I've written a book as well called 'Fairy Whispering: 111 Magical Practices for Connecting with Fairies.' And there is a section on working with crystals to connect with fairies, and different types of crystals. As you know, I'm not going to tell you about crystals because you know all about crystals. Certain crystals, in fact, just let me say, look what I'm wearing. I don't know if you can see.
Oh, your Moldavite pendant. Yeah. Yeah.
I'm ready. I'm ready for some transformation. Like, bring it on, universe. So yeah, I love it. And crystals are very powerful, and there are also fairies of particular crystals. And I'm not going to go into all the whys and wherefores in— because we've got a short time— but in the book I talk about certain crystals, including rose quartz and different crystals that you can bring in to help amplify your connection to the fairies. Um, you can make a fairy garden, you could put crystals in your fairy garden, you could make a little fairy altar, which would be there are no rules with it, which is so beautiful. Just follow your heart. Like, if you like a little fairy figurine, or maybe a little plant, or a crystal, whatever it might be, make a dedicated space either in your home or in your garden if you have one, that is like a space to honour nature and the fairies. It's, it's really lovely. And there is a— I could— can I share a really super short meditation, like really, really super short. So this, because I'm often asked, how can I connect with fairies? Okay, so right this moment, get yourself comfortable, take a deep breath in, feel your connection to wherever you're sitting, and then breathe out. And then we're breathing in love, light, joy, peace, and happiness. And then we're releasing as we breathe out any cares or concerns, and then visualize yourself sitting with your back against a beautiful ancient tree. Feel the roots going deep down into the earth and visualize roots coming from your feet going also deep into the earth and merging with the roots of the tree to keep you grounded, knowing that you are safe, protected, and loved at all times. And then connect with the tree for a few moments, and then either in your mind or out loud say, fairies, fairies, come to me as I sit beneath this tree. So it is, and so may it be. And say thank you, thank you, thank you. And you can either stay in this space for as long as you like, or you can come back quick as a fairy flash into this moment, because we always have to come back, because it's easy to go away with the fairies. And then we would be aware of little things that would be happening, like maybe a butterfly or a bird or something acting in an unusual way. It could also be a feather, because feathers aren't only associated with angels, they're also associated with fairies. Could be an acorn. I've had an acorn drop on my head before. Like they're really cheeky with me. They really push their luck.
So can I just say as well, I know you— I know people can't see this on the podcast, but as I did that, that just rolled off onto my lap. Do you think that could have been the very— I can't see the rose quartz. Rose quartz, yeah, went straight off the edge, straight onto my knee as I said, Mary's come to me.
I love that so much. I love that. And in fact, I almost put a rose quartz here on my desk, but I'm literally I've got it in my room, but I've, I'm covered with everything's everywhere and there wasn't one bit of room. So I'm really glad that happened. That's so funny.
So is there anything that people should avoid when trying to connect with fairy energy? Like, are there any common mistakes that beginners tend to make or anything that we should just try to avoid in case we, you know, piss them off or anything like that?
Yeah, because that's another saying, isn't it? Don't piss off the fairies. And that's very true. We don't want to do that. So, a lot of it is common sense, like, don't do things that you wouldn't want done to yourself, respect nature, and listen, which is the strongest lesson for me, really, that I can share is when you go to, especially to a sacred space, listen.
Mm.
Are you welcome in that space? And when we go and sit beside a tree, ask permission of the tree. Is it okay to come into your energy? Mostly the answer will be yes, but wait a few moments and feel what the answer is. It might— you might not hear a yes or a no. You might, but it's a feeling. Usually our bodies are great detectors of what is right and what is not right. Intuitively, instinctively, it's about really trusting ourself as we do this. So The, the most advice that I can give is get my book. It's all in there. I talk about all the different ways, and especially what's really, really important, and this is in answer, direct answer to your question, is to practice some form of spiritual protection before you're doing the meditations, before you're doing any active connecting with the fairies. Um, there's a really lovely one that I'll just say briefly, which is the Bubble of Protection. And it's so simple. There are many different ones, but this one I'm really keen on at the moment. And you just visualize a bubble around you. You can see out it, but only good love, light, and joy can come into that bubble. Positivity. All else is kept at bay.
Mm-hmm.
And then if you feel like, I don't want that bubble anymore, you just pop it in your mind with your finger. It's easy. And it's just such a simple thing. You can do it, especially if you feel a little bit vulnerable when you're out in the world, because it can be a little bit abrasive sometimes, and you just need that little extra boost.
Yeah.
And another one is a golden cloak of protection, which I love as well. You just visualise when you go out in the morning, put an invisible golden cloak on, and know that that is protecting you. But I do go fully into the details in my book. And it's— there are so many fun ways that we can connect with the fae, with the fairies, from making daisy chains, fairy gardens, fairy altars, creating your own little fairy tea party or event. There are so many things that you can do. 111 in my book, but there are way more than that in reality. You know, people will all have their own personal ways to connect with fairies, and it It is a beautiful journey. It really, really is.
I think finally, Karen, if the fairies could leave every single listener with one message today, what do you think that they would want us all to hear as a collective?
Love your environment. Do all you can to protect your environment, our environment. It's not separate from us. It is us.
I love that. Thank you so much. Where can people find you online, Karen, if they wanted to connect with you?
Oh, so I am kind of everywhere, but I'm mainly on Instagram is my kind of platform of choice because it just feels like good energy there. Some of the other platforms can feel a little bit, um, not so high vibration, let's say. Um, and I am Karen Kay Fairey.
I'll pop all of the links in the show notes as well for the episodes. Karen, thank you so much for spending some time with us this afternoon. It's been absolutely lovely to learn from you. I am going to take that meditation. I'm going to run with that. Every day for a week and see what happens. Because if that one little thing happened there with the rose quartz, there's something in that for me.
Well, get my audiobook because then you can listen, because that's what a lot of people do, because you can read the meditations, but it's not the same as when you're listening. So I actually talk through them, and then you can— I'm, I'm really excited. Please promise me you'll tell me what happens, because if that just happened then I think, yeah, the fairies are keen to connect with you, definitely.
I love that. Thank you so much, Karen. It's been an absolute honor to speak with you, and thank you for sharing all of your fairy magic at Manifest as well. Honestly, the feedback that we got from that workshop was absolutely phenomenal. So thank you so much for being you.
Thank you so much, and thank you for being you.
And to everyone at home listening, you can go to Karen's website at karenk.co.uk, or you can find her on Instagram at karenk_fairy. Thank you so much for listening to this episode.
