In this YouTube video, Austin Maser teams up with Jack, a mobile car‑detailing entrepreneur who runs Detail Dogs, to test door‑to‑door sales for their detailing services. The pair start by discussing the market potential for mobile detailing and how Austin discovered Jack’s business via an Instagram ad. They outline a sales script, emphasizing confidence, hand‑showing, and quick introductions, and they practice real‑time coaching as they knock on doors in a residential neighborhood. Throughout the hour‑and‑a‑half outing they encounter various reactions, handle objections about price and service need, and experiment with different questioning techniques (e.g., asking about the last time a car was detailed, complimenting the vehicle). After several attempts they close a one‑time $200 detailing job with a customer named Shivam, negotiating down from a typical $450 price by anchoring high, then discounting to $250 and finally $200, using the “does that sound fair?” close. Austin reflects on the success, noting that door‑to‑door detailing can work similarly to pest‑control sales, and stresses the importance of daily role‑play training, a dedicated coaching group, and consistent practice to improve sales performance. He also promotes his own sales training course and encourages viewers to join the role‑play community, ending with a holiday greeting and a call to action for Detail Dogs.

Today we are knocking door to door to sell detailing services with Jack. He's got his van with detail dogs here. I ran into one of Jack's ads on Instagram and now he details my Cybertruck every month. And now we're going to see if we can sell this thing door to door. Never done it in my entire life. Wish us luck. We're going to kind of come up with a script, ask good questions, build up the problem, go for the close. No different than pest control. Hopefully we know how to— hopefully we can sell something.
We're gonna get it done.
Let's go, baby! Detailing is a massive business with a ton of young entrepreneurs starting their own services. I learned about Jack's business from an Instagram ad. I want to hear a little bit about what you have to say with your business, brother.
Yeah guys, so I graduated school about a year and a half ago now. We got 2 trucks on the road and we also got a physical location back in Athens, Georgia. We're out here going to be door knocking today. Austin is the king of door knocking as we know, but we're going to see if he's got it for detailing. I'm going to take notes from him. I'm going to learn from the master. We're going to record it and everything like that for you guys. And I really think this neighborhood is going to be super successful. There's a ton of nice cars here and we're going to get everybody on monthly or quarterly contracts. I anticipate at least a couple of days a week after we do this. So we're going to get to it.
Let's go.
How's it going, sir?
Hey.
Oh, I think we just talked to your son over here, but he speaks English. Oh, he doesn't speak English.
Do you? Obviously. You can tell him that we're doing training materials today. It's perfect. Like, we're not the type Hello?
Hey, we were just going to talk to y'all about a quick service that we're offering.
No, thank you. Okay, yeah, we're good.
Okay, we're okay. Thank you. Sorry about that.
We are about an hour in, hadn't got anything yet, but we did make some progress. She did ask how much does it cost. Her expectation though was to pay $50, and we can't do No, sir. Okay, we're gonna finish up. It's dark, but it's 6 o'clock, guys. People stay awake past 6 o'clock. People don't just go to bed at 6. Like, people are awake. If the sun goes down, you can still knock. Just make sure you're showing your hands, you're confident. Otherwise, people are like, what is this guy doing out here? So we're gonna keep going, see if we can snag something. All right, so we've got a guy standing next to the Tesla right now. And we're gonna make the Tesla fart. Zoom in nice and close on that. I go to controls. Oh, here it is. Is he still close to the car? Yes. Is he? The car is making a farting noise and homie's just looking at it. Okay, let's go. Alright. So we just, uh, somebody's looking at the Tesla and I just made it fart right next to him, so he walked away from it. Remember the— when was the last time you had it detailed? And then compliment them on the new Kia. Okay, that's how you're gonna bring the walls down.
Sweet.
Say, hey, I know it's late, I'll be super— I know it's dark, I'll be— it's not late, I'm so tired, I'll be quick.
Hello, how's it going? I know it's dark, I'll be super quick. Um, I said I know it's dark, I'll be super quick. I saw the nice Kia out front. We have a detailing business and we just worked on a couple of your neighbors' houses around the day. Um, do you have a detail person that takes care of it?
That's my company car, so they take care of it.
Oh really?
Yeah.
Okay, they wash it themselves?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, I got you.
I appreciate it though.
Thank y'all for asking.
Yeah. Well, the other one is a Chevy, so you could have tried to go—
yeah, true, true, true.
So you could have gone a different route with like, okay, when was the last time you had the Chevy done? So that's like the only way that I would have thought about—
dude, you would crush in my business with like new— I, I just answer the phone all day of people that already want to book.
That intro was night and day better. Really? Okay, okay, you're getting better after just like 2 doors. Well, we stayed out knocking and we closed the deal. What was his name again? Shivam. Shivam, guy from India. So I ended up anchoring at $200. Like, normally it's $450, took him down to $250. Didn't want to do a service plan, so we did a one-time. Still on the fence, and I was like, let's just do it for $200. That sound fair? He's like, yeah, we'll do it. So hey, we got a deal. Turns out you can sell door-to-door detailing. We're servicing it on Monday. I guess this, uh, it sells.
Monthly customer locked in for the next 5 years.
Yeah, that was the way we got him to be okay with it. We're like, hey dude, like, just try us out for the first one, and if you want to stick around longer, you can do that. In pest control, that obviously is not a thing, but hey, in detailing, it flies. Look, we got the beautiful truck right there. Detail Dogs, baby. Yeah, the Cybertruck and the detail dog right here. Okay, well, Jack and I sold an account, and it's like $200. It's a one-time service. But hey, if you know how to sell, you can do it. You can sell anything, and we proved that tonight. Like, guy, homie did not really want to get his car detailed. But I was just really persistent and I anchored at $450, went down to $250, and then I went down to— what'd I do after that? I went down to— pulling out of here— went down to $200. And I hit him— the close that I was able to get him with was, does that sound fair? And so I mean, this opens my mind, right? Like, you can literally sell anything door-to-door. You're going face-to-face with people. And in detailing, it was kind of dope because I just got to ask them about their car and, you know, when did they get it, what do they like about it. That's awesome. When is the last time you had it detailed? Never had it detailed? Man, you're going to freaking love it. Feels like— it feels like when you got it for the first time. So those are just some lines I came up with today. Um, totally worth trying again, doing a full day of knocking. I didn't set up any commission with Jack. I was like, dude, I just want to— I just want to see how to do this, man.
Fun.
That's all I got to say about that. It's a big old construction project going on right there. In other news, if you haven't gotten the course yet, you need to. And you can see over 100 live sales of pest control. We did— we were so close to having that deal recorded, but the camera— Jack is new to this DJI thing, so we just didn't get it recorded. So there'll be more to come. We literally went out knocking for an hour and a half and we got a deal. Make sure you guys are training on a daily basis. No matter what you sell door-to-door, if you're not training on a daily basis, you will not improve. Like, that is a promise I can make you. You won't improve if you don't train. Train insane or remain the same, right? If nothing changes, nothing changes. I would just say, like, it's November right now. If you're not training on a daily basis, don't expect to get better next year. Like, go out and be okay with setting the same goal, because if you don't train between now and when you start again, you're probably going to finish with the same amount of revenue you did this year. And so that's where I have that roleplay group that comes in handy big time, where guys can just hop on there and roleplay every day, and they get personalized coaching from me. Anyways, keep it up. Merry Christmas, and go Detail Dawgs!
