How to Sell Fiber Internet Door to Door

In this 8,500‑token YouTube vlog, Austin Maser documents his first day selling fiber‑optic internet door‑to‑door in Cleveland, Ohio. Accompanied by a cameraman (Norman) and a remote sales coach (Alex), Austin drives around, knocks on residential doors, and attempts to convert Spectrum or other cable customers to a new fiber service that offers a free first month, lower monthly rates, and a $300 Visa gift‑card incentive. The video interleaves live sales pitches, on‑the‑spot objection handling, and post‑sale reflections. Key moments include: explaining the technical difference between shared cable and dedicated fiber; setting expectations (“I might be able to come back later”); using price‑comparison and speed‑benefit arguments; capturing personal data (zip, name, email) when a buying question arises; closing deals with Heather and Amanda; dealing with uninterested prospects like Lonnie and Willie; and debriefing with the team about the number of deals (four total, two complete laydowns) and lessons learned. Throughout, Austin shares casual banter, jokes about “Marion Barry,” holiday references, and side conversations about Bigfoot, which serve as filler but illustrate the informal, vlog‑style tone. The video ends with Austin summarizing the day’s successes, emphasizing that the core sales principles (intro, problem identification, solution, close) are transferable to any product, and hinting at future content.

Uh, Marion Barry?
What's that?
Getting the right name? Marion Barry? Uh, no, she's dead. What up guys, I just landed in Cleveland, Ohio last night at 10:30 to sell fiber internet. I've never done this in my entire life, but I've got Norman here to document the entire experience so we can have some fun YouTube for you guys. And from what I hear, this is easy to sell. So I've got Alex here kind of coaching me through. I'm gonna call him here in a second. He's gonna give me some tips. And we're going to go figure this thing out.
Yeah, you'll notice that probably especially out there, like, people don't automatically know what fiber internet is, whereas in bigger cities, you know, you might have people that like, they get it. And so I'm just speaking very slow when I'm explaining that. I'm saying, hey, they put in a new fiber internet line. That's, that's legit.
I am really looking forward to this because I don't feel like it's a big high-pressure sale. In my past, I'm used to selling these 2-year contracts with massive buyouts. There's no contract for this. It's like, hey, just try us out, the first month's free, you get all these gift cards and stuff. I think this is going to be very, very fun. Right now we're waiting to get leads, so we're gonna head towards the city that we're knocking in and grab some breakfast and get going. So follow me for a fun day. In this job, I was told to drive around, find signs of life instead of just parking and going. And so here we go. Probably gonna hit like these 3 houses and drive to the next area. Getting the right name? Marion Berry? Uh, no, she's dead. Oh, holy smokes. Okay, that's actually why I'm here. Who'd you guys end up going with? Uh, we've got two more. So yeah, it's freezing up here.
Yep.
So okay, well, um, we'd love to help you out in the future. Keep us in mind, okay? God bless. The last guy knocked on the door and I'm like, hey, is this person here? And he goes, no, she's dead. And like, oh, nice to meet you. Let's ride that one over there. We'll drive that street over there. Okay, cool. And it's not like they're a bad or anything, not telling you you have to switch. Only if it works. Take care, guys. How y'all doing today? Good. You guys might already be— You guys come all the time. I keep saying no, no, no, and you still keep coming. If I can chill for just a second, if you need to— It'll be a while because it's a doctor. Oh shoot, man. I can— hey, I might be able to come by later today. I can't promise you.
All right.
Okay. Okay. I just set the right expectation. If I had said, oh, I'll come by later, he would have said no. But because I said I might be able to come back later, I can't promise you though. Way better opportunity to go by later. You guys are with Spectrum right now, correct?
Yeah.
Cool.
We're not really wanting to switch just yet.
Name's Austin.
I'm with Bright Speed.
How are you guys' internet guys out here in the area? You'll notice like recently we laid the fiber down and hung that up just so people are getting faster internet. Yeah, hopefully it was a good experience. Like, I know people are like, hey, we're in the way digging out the dirt and stuff like that.
We didn't even notice.
Okay, cool. And your name is?
Heather.
Heather, good to meet you. This, because if it's not worth your time, I don't want to push it at all. Trust me, I wouldn't be out here if I didn't know it was going to help you guys a ton. Well, who's the video gamers?
My sons.
I played Gears of War as a kid.
Said this is fiber optic, so this isn't like any other So, correct.
Yes. So basically all the other internet is like shared. Yeah, it's towered, like almost like a cell tower type thing. Fiber is like a glass line that's like directly to your house. That's why we were laying the, the cables. What, bro? What are you talking about, man?
Yeah, we saw you guys out here and I think— exactly, ended up getting it.
A lot of people in your neighborhood have. Well, that's why everyone's upgrading to it because it's just where things are going now.
And when I got the I looked at it.
I'm sending this to you.
I think, yeah, I'm definitely willing to give it a try if it saves me some money.
Okay, retrieve acceptance. If I hit that, it has been accepted. Okay, are we going to be awesome? Yes, you're awesome. Thank you.
You're awesome at your job.
Well, listen, if that's why at first you're like, hey, I'm busy, I'm like, listen, if they're streaming video games, but you need it. That is a great example of the rumors are true. Fiber is easy to sell. I didn't realize that people are paying $150 a month. I got tons of objections and I think I just had to be like, yeah, totally, let me just show you this. And there was enough curiosity and enough pain to where I actually started filling out the information. You notice that, like, I was like, hey, what's your zip code, first name, last name? I'm like, let me look at the prices for your house because that was a buying question. So if there's ever a buying question, you need to capitalize on it. And just lock it down right then and there. But hey, first fiber deal in the books. Now we go back to our warm car.
Woo!
That house right here. Merry Christmas. This is what we wanted. Look, we're going to go sell Santa some internet. Santa stop here. Hey there, Mr. Santa. You have fiber? What does he do? He works at Campbell's Soups. Okay, cool. That's ought to be fun. That's one word for it. I don't know that that's his word for it. I hate this place. He might have some other words for it. What's up, Georgia? I'm in Ohio right now, honey, because I'm selling internet. Alright, love you guys. Love you back. Bye. Did you get that? Yeah, being a good dad. Hello, are you Allison? And you have to catch your kids, but, um, what time do you intend to be there? Because it takes me 3 minutes. Um, we have time. Okay, cool. I just want to be respectful of your time. Yeah, I appreciate that. Um, if I did a speed test on your phone right now, you're probably in the 200 range. Okay, I need to get that a lot higher. Okay, familiar with fiber, how it works? Uh, no. Right now you're sharing the internet with a lot of other people with Spectrum. That's why it's so weak. Got it. With fiber, I run a cord directly to your house. It's like a glass. It goes directly to your house. The internet's amazing. Okay. And you're currently paying $150 a month. Um, we took Heather from $150 to $79 a month.
Dude, that's awesome.
Yeah, let's do it. So yeah, I mean, I don't need to oversell you here. It's like, I keep thinking about it. I was like, I gotta like call— I forget, maybe it was you guys that my mom got instead Spectrum. Third month in, we're gonna send you $300 worth of Visa credit, like Visa gift. Yeah, we make this a very easy decision. Um, help me with your phone number real quick. 419. See how good it is, and then once you've had— I don't want you to be without internet until we install, so then you can just email them, call them, and cancel them out. But yeah, you're totally fine on that. They're not going to beg you to stay like a desperate boyfriend. I know, just— you're like, hey, I already got better internet, we're good to go. And then we're saving a lot of people money during the holidays. Your email real quick. Hey, make sure the breakup call goes well. I don't want Spectrum crying too bad. They're gonna be like, what can we do? Listen, the ship has sailed.
Take care.
Dude, let's go!
10 deals today, let's go. Fiber's easy! I didn't think that a minute ago. I'm like, is this legit? I feel like I'm questioning my life decisions. Yeah, I'm in the middle of BFE. Ohio, when I could be driving in my BBC in Georgia. Just you and me. Good content. Glad we got a deal with that one. Like indoor door sales, you need to be respectful of people's time. So if you have a flashback back to that one deal where I was like, you know, Jaws with that guy filling up his tire. It does look a little bit flat. Any tips on kids? And good luck. Good luck. Thanks, man. I got two daughters. But yeah, dude, I know you have to peel out. I just sent that over to you. I'll send you a selfie so you remember who I am. This will be the fastest sign up that I've done all day, like filling up tire, doing that. I know, dude, it's like hectic as heck. Send you a selfie so you remember me. 1, 2, 3. Yo, I got the back of your head. Here we go.
All right.
It will not charge it until later.
If—
can you get that done for me in the next couple of minutes just so that I can— if I exit out, I really can't.
I don't have time. I'm going to be late.
I got to set the— Yeah. Okay, man. We're good. It just wasn't the time and place. He never told me no, but with her, she was walking to her car, so I just threw out some feelers, right? Internet, cheap. Stuff like that. And I, and I actually gave interest. She started walking towards me and I didn't want to play like desperate there, but she was like, no, I got time. So we've got her signed up. But that was a unique— the more you do door-to-door, the better you'll get at reading people and understanding if they are open to being closed. And she was 1000% open and she was already ready to close that spectrum. Hello. Hello. How are we doing?
Not too shabby, man.
What's up?
Cold?
Yeah, freezing, but I'm doing okay for sure. So name's Austin. I'm the internet guy out here. Not right now. Okay, dude, you're awesome. No, thank you. Um, who in the neighborhood would you recommend I go chat with, sir?
I mean, I mean, I don't know a lot of the cats. I haven't been living here super long. I mean, your best bet would be the cat— these people right over here, like the older couple right here.
Okay, I haven't talked to them yet. They might already have us, so that's why I skipped their house.
I know they've had issues with like Spectrum in the past.
So that would be the— okay. All right, man. Hey, well, you're the man. We'll keep on, we'll keep on cranking.
Yeah, if you guys are down doing some stuff down the road, who the hell knows.
Okay, thank you, man. Appreciate you.
You guys do well.
Even if he does do stuff, let's be real, you are the boss here. Well, yeah, you know what I mean.
But when it comes to that stuff, yeah, or anything computer related, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, hey, it's not working, come here and fix this.
What's your name, by the way?
Lonnie.
I'm Austin Maser. Lonnie, it's a pleasure to meet you.
He games a lot.
He needs a 2 gig.
And he said, well, no, he don't need it. Yeah, but he said faster is always better.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it wouldn't matter.
Hey, you're not getting mad at me. Real quick, what is the, uh, what's the street address here? The home number?
But like I said, I'm not doing anything today.
Well, you don't have to pay anything today. In fact, I wouldn't—
not what I mean. I'm not doing anything as far as changing.
Okay.
Today.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm not, I'm just not gonna do that.
Yeah.
Without talking with you.
When does he get back?
When the time comes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then, yeah.
That I'm gone. I mean kick the bucket.
Boy, that escalated quickly. Oh no, dude, don't be talking about that.
Oh.
We talk about it all the time. Okay.
He's keeping the house.
Okay, good. Okay.
Really, I want to ask him just what the hell did he do that you're at my door?
Well, he gave me his first and last name. I know that. So that's all I know. Did he request that we come by? Like, he put his information in somewhere to where I got the heads up. You know what I mean?
That peckerhead.
Yeah.
He ain't supposed to be doing shit like that without talking to me first.
I mean, he made the comment the other day.
Okay.
That, well, when I'm gone, he will switch for the biggest reason. He will cancel the TV.
Okay. I need to talk. Do you think— I think he might be opening to do it if he footed the bill. Do you think he'd do it?
Are you trying to shit?
Oh, is he?
He didn't foot any bill.
Okay.
No, we good. Hey, God bless you, man. I'm happy I ran into you. And you have a blessed day. Okay.
Yeah.
Hey, take care now, sir. All right.
All right.
Well, that's just an example of making sure you're talking to qualified buyers. I thought because, like, he was qualified and he definitely was a decision maker, but he was pushing the, you know, kicking the can to his son who said he was going to make that decision. Did we knock on this yet?
Okay.
But on we go.
That peckerhead.
You are amazing. Not only one granola, but two. Does he want a banana also?
Yes, please.
Amazing. You're awesome. Thank you. Dude, she's the coolest customer of the day. Banana and granola bars. You're hogging all those granola bars. Please, sir, I want some more. Oh, I'll give you one. I got it on camera.
Now you have to.
Yeah. You are amazing. Yep. Thank you so much, man. You believe in Sasquatch?
Yeah.
Can you imagine what a Bigfoot would do to your home?
Yeah. Yep.
He real, ain't he?
Yep.
Where do you think he's at right now?
Right now he's probably in the UP.
UP?
Upper Peninsula in Michigan.
You think so?
Yep.
I mean, they've had some real sightings. Harry, no!
Yeah, no, I know, uh, but that's where I think he probably is, cuz it's nice and wooded up there and not too many people to, uh, be, uh, bugging him.
Yeah, I'd like to meet him.
Uh, I'd be more interested, interested to see, yeah, the Dogman.
The Dogman? Yeah, tell me about him.
Uh, he is probably similar except he's got like, uh, he's sort of like a werewolf.
No way! Yeah, he, he's out here?
Not here, but up in Michigan.
Right, we ought to find him.
Yep, look up Dogman on the, uh, they got sightings of him too. Yeah.
All right, okay, well, we're gonna have some fun with that one. Hey, take care. Yep, bye. Goal for today's YouTube— Norman told me after, after my chicken nugget break, we need 2 more deals and 2 more crazies. We got our weird interaction. We got 1 deal, we got 1 crazy. We need 1 more of each. So we're walking back to our car. I think our car's there. I know. There it is. Oh, gosh. I thought it was Toad. Are you the owner here?
Yeah.
Okay, cool, man. Good to meet you. Are you not with us yet, are you? I'm probably my mom on the cell. What'd you say?
I live here.
Cool.
Good to meet you. Okay. Basically, we're doing a better rate and it's way less, so it's way faster internet. Are they here right now? No, no.
Everybody's at work.
Do you ever help out with the internet or anything like that with the bills?
No, they— those two do.
Okay, it's free for the first month for sure.
Hey, look, it's faster internet.
Faster internet, cheaper. Oh yeah, yeah, done deal. I put you down as a follow-up, so if I am in the area, I'll try. Okay, take care, my friend. And your name was?
Uh, Willie.
I'm Austin. Willie, good to meet you, man. Oh yes, you terrified. Is that like a doodle or— that's awesome. He's an Aussie doodle. Yeah, no, that's cool though. Um, what your name is?
Amanda.
Amanda, I'm Austin. Nice to meet you. So Amanda, he's got me mic'd up and he's recording me just because we do like training for kids because this job is freaking hard.
Okay.
It is not easy at all. As far as the internet goes, over the last little bit you've noticed we've been laying down the fiber. They're not bad, but let's just be real, it could be better, right? So Amanda, here's what I'll tell you. So you try me out month one, and she has probably the similar promo that we did for her. Try me out month one, it's on me. Okay. Month, uh, 2 starts, it's going to be $79 a month flat. So no difference in price, but you will notice a dramatic difference in speed. A good phone number for you is?
419.
419. What's a good email for you? Card on file. We won't charge it until month 2 though.
Right.
Okay. If you want to pull that up for me, that's the last thing I need from you. You're wonderful. Thanks for your time. Day 1 of internet camp done. So I finished the day with 4 deals and 2 of those deals were complete laydowns. 2 of them had like some solid objections, which if you're on the course you can go look at. We finally got fiber deals on Measure Sales Training. Measure20 for $20 off your first month. If you're on the fence, quit being a fence sitter, start being a go-getter. Um, but overall really, really fun. Like at this time of year, if you're selling pest control right now, this is not a bad thing to go do. Kind of cool, right? Like to just get— keep— stay sharp on the doors, learning your introduction, all that stuff. And then go back to your pest company during the summer. I think that's, uh, kind of a fun thing. I had a lot of fun selling this today. It was kind of an easy sale. And at heart, I'm always going to be a pest control guy, but this is like— it's so fun to try out other products, and this was a fun one to sell. I mean, first month free, lower price, we send you a $300 gift card 3 months in. Kind of makes it easy, right? So today I spent a lot of time figuring out the ins and outs of the app. I was actually seriously nervous in the morning. I felt naked. I felt like, oh my gosh, this is what kids feel like when they start selling pest control for the first time. And I haven't felt that in a long time. It's like, yeah, it is nerve-wracking to go do something new. But hey, successful day. Sales are sales, people are people, doors are doors. You can sell to anybody, anytime, anywhere. And I'll add one more thing: you can sell anything. If you understand the principles of selling. And today was very simple, you know, just like how I teach. It's your introduction, you find the problem, you blow it up, you give them the solution, and you freaking close them. Helps to have a $300 gift card. If I sold pest control with $300 gift cards, I'd be a triple Golden Door winner. That'd be sick. But, uh, I don't do that because I like making money. So this is built into the sale. They get these like credits and stuff like that, so it's kind of fun. But hey, the Chinese Dragon was closed. Doesn't open till Wednesday. So if we're still in that city, we might have to go to Chinese Dragon. So we went to Ninja Sushi tonight and got hibachi. It was really good. That's all for day 1 of internet camp. See you guys tomorrow.
