Austin Maser's door-to-door pest-control team in Birmingham, Alabama closes four deals on day three, using a personal bet (his brother-in-law shaving his head) as motivation. They handle price objections, field a customer cancellation claim, and share team moments at Buc-ee's.

We're 3 deals deep right now. 3 deals deep. We need 2 more to get my brother-in-law to shave his head. Turns out his wife is pissed. So he's begging me to change the rules, but none of this matters if I don't sell 2 more deals. So we're gonna go and try to find 2 more deals, and then we hold all the power. To negotiate whatever we want from Rex. I could tell Rex he owes me $1,000 and I will have mercy on him. So let's see if we can get 2 more. I believe, I truly believe. I feel bad for him. I believe. How are we doing today? We, uh, we rolled up on your buddy. I was like, hey, are you the boss here? She said that she was just visiting. I do the bugs out here, okay?
Okay.
Our truck's in the neighborhood today. We just signed up your next-door neighbors, uh, gosh, Gabby, and then next to them, Sympathy. Cynthia, do you know them? Uh, not well. But you know of them? Yeah.
Beautiful.
My boss at work used to do pest control. He actually told me what to buy. Cool. Yeah. So you got your stuff. Um, I just want to take the job off your hands.
At the end of the day, nobody likes doing the pest control.
It's a hassle, right? And so I just do it for over half off. Okay. Have you ever— Swan Tanner should be $300. Legit, like the value of everything we're doing for the first service is very in-depth. It should be $300. Because I'm here at your door and we're trying to get my brother-in-law to shave his head. If I can get 2 more people signed up, then he shaves his head. Okay. He'll look like me, okay? His wife is gonna be pissed, okay? But it's gonna be fun. All I need from you is a signature right there, and we'll get you rockin' and rollin'.
Do it!
Just do it! Man, what's the— I'm sorry, man, but what's the chance you can leave me like a card to call you back? But, okay, I was gonna show you this. I just need a good review. That's it. And well, for the service. But, but here's what I got. So it's just the $49 a month. Yes, sir. Number when you're ready is— oh, you don't do tap to pay, do you? We don't. I wish we did. That'd be pretty cool. And I'll take a picture of me and Jordan. That way you remember who we are.
Beautiful.
Thank you. Thanks for your help, brother. Nice job, dude. Yeah, dude, I'm loving this. I might come back, you know, soon. Yeah, you're gonna be gone for a while next month, Rexon. I love this job. He asked me, he's like, who trained you? And I'm like, I've been doing this for 6 years. So thanks for your help, dude. Yeah, I'm just gonna put the pavement on file and do it, right? I mean, yeah, if he backs out, we lost some granules. I know, probably better if you got it going. But yeah, if you just do the gran— yeah, get started granules and I'll just get the card on file. You can charge it right after. We're good to go. I love it. Hey, Ben, it's a pleasure to meet you, brother. We'll be in touch. And dude, Jordan's your guy, man. He's going to take good care of you. Jordan, love you, brother. We'll, we'll be in touch. I'm going to go ahead. I'm going to go hit up Rex.
No way.
I'm sorry, dude.
That's crazy.
I'm kidding. I'm at 4 right now.
Okay.
Hey. Look, we got to get the shirts back to you, okay?
Yeah. And then I think if my Segway's still in your truck.
Yeah. So we have to, we have to meet up.
Yeah.
So I, I think we might call it just because this is fun, but I don't want to get you any nasty reviews. So are you cool with that or do you want me to knock later and get a fifth?
No, dude, I'm okay not having any consequences.
I might knock. I might knock a couple more. Dude, is Savannah all right?
Yeah, yeah. I told her, I was like, I talked to him. We'll figure something out before it doesn't ruin our marriage, babe. Don't worry, I won't. I won't make you too upset. So she, she was like, okay, okay, that's fine. It's pretty funny.
Listen, I'm gonna drop you a pin where I'll be knocking, okay?
If you're in door-to-door and you don't have any training or coaching, you need to hop on coaching now. In fact, I've got my sales training website with a collection over 100 videos of me selling deals in live time. Use code Maser20 for $20 off your first month. And if you don't have a coach, like, that's the training program that you need. Like, whether it's with me or somebody else, you need a training program, period.
All right guys, just finished up in Birmingham, Alabama. Zero on day 1, 1 on day 2, and today Rex gets to keep his hair. We finished with 4. Hallelujah! The lesson from this week is stay positive. Like, I could have really, you know, given up after day 1. I still stayed plugged into my systems. We went to the gym, like, as you saw this morning, we do the workout. Day 2, we got another one, right? So I kept some momentum. And then day 3, I I finally was able to figure out this market, especially when people move around. You got to kind of figure out a market. It just takes a little bit of time. But I had to remind myself, like, I can't beat myself up. What's it been like for you trying somewhere else, like moving somewhere? Oh, you bagel here your first day.
Yeah. So my first day, I again, I got a full bagel and being starting a business myself, I was stressed. I'm like, my business is going to fail. I don't know how to sell. I suck. Like, this job isn't for me anymore. And all the money I put into the business is going to waste. Day 2, I finally sold 1, and then I sold 1 on day 3, and then it started to pick up and I sold 3 on day 4. But it took me trying it out, a few different things, and then once I figured it out, it's been super consistent since and way more confident. But confidence sells, so I think that's also helped a ton.
Yeah, so if you're struggling right now wherever you're selling, just remember that you just have to keep showing up. Like I've done 1,000 accounts in the summer. I freaking baggled on day 1, okay? The next day I sold 1. I don't say I only sold 1, I just say I sold 1, right? Like, you focus on your inputs and you get what you get and you keep plugging into your system. You make tweaks, you figure it out. But subscribe below, keep following this journey because I'll keep putting in like more YouTube episodes from other markets and we'll most likely be back to Birmingham within the next year.
So, and my, my business will continue to grow. He grew it 10% just being here.
10% increase.
That's it.
Okay, cool. Thanks, brother.
Yeah, of course.
So we just made it to Buc-ee's. We're charging up the Cybertruck. And funny story about Buc-ee's. These guys like pissed me off one time. I came here to get, you know, we got food and stuff. And I was checking out and after I complimented the manager on how nice the store was, he came up to me and he was like, "Can I ask you a question?" He was really like, super friendly. I was like, yeah, what's up? He goes, did you pay for that water? I was like, bro, I just filled up my Stanley cup with water.
Please, sir, I want some more. More!
He goes, you need to pay for that water, it's 75 cents. And I'm like, bro, there was nothing on the signs that said I had to pay for water. And he just was like super weird about it. So then he rings me up, charged me $3 for it, and I, and I was mad at Buc-ee's. Okay, I was really mad at Buc-ee's. Whole drive home I was saying Buc-ee's but with an F. Okay, I was mad. I've forgiven them and now we're here. New, you know, I've forgiven them in my heart and now we're gonna get some brisket or something. But if you've never seen a Buc-ee's before, buckle up for an experience.
This is something.
Here we are. Buc-ee's. The mother of all All gas stations with a beaver.
Okay.
Alright. If there is something that you can think about that you can buy from a store, it's here and it has a beaver on it. What do we got here? A bag with a beaver head. A beaver witch. Beaver shirts. Beaver blankets. Beaver bodyboards.
No beaver.
A lot of beavers. I love beavers. Ah, Bucky's has some of the best brisket ever, so they say. Look at all this. Amazing. I'm gonna end up getting a pulled pork sandwich. Carolina pulled pork sandwich. These are good. We'll get a Carolina pulled pork. Um, I got the breakfast— I got the burrito here one time, didn't like it. Sliced brisket is not as good as people think it is. That's here. But what we really need to get are these, and we need to— we need to shop. We need a shopping cart. Bear with me, we're gonna get some nuts. We're gonna get some good stuff here. It's late, we're tired. One for me, one for Kaya. More? We're just gonna get a lot of these. 'Cause I'm gonna have one, Kaya's gonna want one. So these are sweet nuts, pecans. Okay, so I'm gonna go bring home some, uh, we'll get some cashews too. Those are good, but, uh, Kaya really, really wanted me to bring home some pecans for her. And last time I went to Bucky's, I ate them all. So I'm gonna go bring home some nuts for my wife.
Nutty, nutty.
So is Tanner enjoying his new service? Well, funny you asked. We just got an email from Rex.
It reads the following: I need to cancel this plan, please. After taking— after talking to the lady of the house, we have decided not to continue. I was not given the opportunity to read the contract prior to signing and was not made aware of these stipulations in the contract.
So basically, I'll have this all emailed over to you. I'll have you sign there saying I went over that with you and white box. Bullshit.
12 months. The first paragraph and the last paragraph are completely different wording. Also, the tech was spreading supplies or product as soon as I was outside with my wallet, so there was no way to cancel before initial application.
I'm just gonna put the payment on file.
Do it, right?
I mean, yeah, it backs out. We lost some granules.
"The contract was not fully discussed before I signed it and I did not get the opportunity to fully read it before signing." I showed him that. "This was because the salesman was that good. Falling within 3 business days or actually the same day of the contract signing, this should not be an issue. Either way, please cancel the contract." I was not shown my contract prior to signing, but simply the signature form and asked to sign here.
Bullshit.
Dude, I totally showed that guy the thing. $49 a month for 12 months. If you cancel before, you have to pay out 50% of the remaining value. Nothing else.
Guy got sold.
I was that good.
