Austin Maser argues salespeople should respect when prospects say no and never make negative comments that worsen someone's day. Everyone's dealing with unseen challenges. Keep it professional and empathetic.
This is what you guys have to remember too. People have the right to tell you no. The guy that told me to fuck off, he's allowed to say that. And I'm allowed to be like, "Hey dude, we're just doing the books." You don't need to take it personally, but what is bad is if I take a dig at him. I'm like, "Dude, you're a grumpy dude." He doesn't need that. He doesn't need me to make his day worse. 'Cause these people are all going through something personal in their lives that we don't know about. That's kind of like a sacred part of it. Like, hey, you're meeting people where they're at in their lives and you can't take anything personally in this job.
