A pest-control rep pitches Jonathan on treating wasp nests and ants with a 30-foot perimeter spray and foundation work. First service costs $109 instead of the usual $400, then $109 monthly with no long-term contract. The rep frames it as a training deal for new technician Tyler and says their approach beats his current contractor's base-only spray.

So, reason we're here is we actually take care of the bugs in your neighborhood. Pleasure to meet you, man.
Nice to meet you, Jonathan. Jonathan? Yeah.
Pleasure, man. So are you guys new to the neighborhood or you've been here for a while?
We've been here for a while.
Pleasure to meet you. So this is Tyler. How's it going?
Nice to meet you.
He's brand new.
Okay.
I'm the bald guy that gets to show him the ropes. Okay, you said Jonathan's your name?
Yeah.
So Jonathan, we're in charge of the bugs out here. Actually, come check this out right here. The main reason that we're out here has been all the wasp nests. So we got 1, 2, 3 here, and then if you stand right here where I'm at.
Yeah.
Check this out. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Uh-huh.
They get pretty bad. Can you see it from— Yeah, yeah, you can see it. Um, we're getting everybody set up on the service Do we have any same days today or just next days? We have a couple of the same days. We have some openings for today. We're doing it super affordable. They're having me record myself for training purposes too. That's why you get a bigger discount. That's why I hold this little camera here. Tell me this though, do you have a company yet or still not yet?
Uh, we do have a contractor.
Who are you with?
Um, it's just a local neighborhood. Yeah, yeah.
So cool, cool. Um, so check this out. Other than the wasp, what else have you been seeing? Check that out right there. I know the wasps are bad for you guys. What else have you— actually, you got another one right there too. What else have you been noticing, Jonathan? Has it just been the wasps?
That and yeah, just the ants, but that's just because of the heat, but yeah.
You know how it gets, man. Where are you from? Are you from Cali?
Yeah, yeah.
Cool. I'm from Georgia.
Oh. So yeah. You know how bad it was.
People think the bugs out there are worse. Like people from Georgia wouldn't think that the bugs in Cali are bad. They're actually bad out here.
Oh, yeah. I did a stint in Georgia.
Where you at then?
In Atlanta.
Okay. I live—
outside of there.
Yeah. What part of the city specifically?
The south, southern end.
Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So I live in northeast Georgia.
Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
It's beautiful, ain't it?
It is. It is.
What do you do?
Music.
Yeah. What kind of music you into, man?
Classical. But I do drum set and all that. But yeah, primarily classical.
Brother, my stepbrother, You graduated from University of Boulder, Colorado?
Uh-huh.
Music. Now he's going to Washington.
Yeah.
Cool stuff. No, Oregon. He's going to Oregon for music.
Okay. Yeah.
So I don't know if you guys— there's probably a small chance there's some connection with somebody.
Probably out there. Yeah.
But what do you do now within music?
Freelance.
Cool. Yeah. Cool. So, okay, you'll like this. Plus, listen, my stepbrother, he's in music. It's not a teacher role, but like, dang, man, I, I want to do a discount for you just because I know how life can get. Listen, I'll be, I'll be real. He talks to me sometimes. I'm like, okay, cool. Like, um, it ain't easy in the music world.
No.
Yeah, so let's, uh, I'm gonna level with you right now. We're going to hook it up big time. Oh, your contractor, he doesn't do the wasp mist. Yeah, I think we can both agree on that. Okay, well, yeah, they, they, he doesn't do anything. Um, that's why you're getting so many. Okay, the other thing with them is, uh, any other contractor, they don't treat the yard, period. The only thing your buddy does is he just sprays the base and that's it. So do you have like a contractual thing with him where he's always coming out or you just call him up?
No, yeah, I just hit him up whenever.
That makes everything super easy because you don't even need to tell him that you don't want to use them anymore. We just don't even call him, right? So, um, he's brand new, that's why you get a discount because they had me recording myself, Jonathan. But basically what we'll do for you today and the reason why we need to get started, your buddy has not treated the yard at all for the bugs.
Yeah.
Where do the bugs come from? The yard. There we go, brother. So we need to do the full granulation 30 feet out all the way around the house. That'll help basically make a barrier around the home so that nothing gets inside, if that makes sense. Next thing that we'll do, you know that you have the cracks and crevices here at the base of the home? That's how you're probably seeing the occasional ant on the inside as it starts to warm up. So what we need to do today is we're going to do a 3-foot by 3-foot power spray all the way around the base of the home. That way nothing makes their way inside.
Yeah.
Okay, and then last but not least, my technician, we've got this gigantic— it looks like a toothbrush, brother. We're gonna knock down all these wasps, but on that brush there's actually a product to help keep them down. It's one thing to knock them down.
Yeah.
One thing to keep them down, you know what I mean? It's a ghost, brother. Now, okay, pricing. Let's talk numbers because I want to hook it up.
Sure.
Do you own or rent? Uh, I own. Okay, the second question is how many bedrooms? 4. Okay, let's talk numbers because let's be real, if the numbers don't make sense, you don't do it. And, uh, married?
Uh, no.
Okay, kids, pets at all in the home?
Uh, no.
Okay, this will be easy for you then. So basically the way it'll work, um, square footage, you're probably between the $1,500 and the $3,000. Okay, if you were— and my— obviously my job is to sign you up today. It's very simple. Um, we do need to get this stuff taken care of because if not, they will get in.
Okay.
Normally the first one would be $400. After that, cheap, it's just around $240 per service. We just break it down to be $109 per month, okay? What I'm gonna do for you to make it a very simple, easy decision is instead of doing the first one today for $400, Tyler's in training right now. I kind of got to show him the ropes.
Yeah.
We're gonna go ahead and knock out the first one for you for day— today, $109. That's it. Crazy, I know. That is actually crazy. It is. So, and basically the way it works is you don't have any kids or pets. But if you ever do, just, you know, just put up the kids or pets for 45 minutes. It's all eco-friendly. I have the service at my house and I've got 2 daughters, so like no harmful products at all. But basically the way it works for you, Jonathan, right? Yeah. Your last name?
Okay.
Basically the way it works is we'll always call you before we come out that way no trucks in the way. What's a good number for you, man?
909.
909. And then Jonathan is spelled how it sounds, correct?
Yeah. J-O-N-A-T-H-A-N.
I wasn't good at spelling, that's why I do pest control. And then real quick, okay, I shoot you over that receipt today for the $109. What's a good email to send that to, brother?
.com.
What do you like to do for fun outside of music, man? Oh, I mean, I read, go to the range, just normal stuff. That's fun, man. I, uh, what got you into music, man?
I started off in marching band.
In school.
Yeah.
Very nice.
I was taking lessons and just kind of took off from there.
What instrument? Marching band? Was it drums?
Percussion. Yeah. Okay.
I was clarinet in middle school.
Okay.
And then I wanted to get into band, but it conflicted a ton with basketball.
Okay.
My dream was to go to the NBA. I'll let you decide if I made it or not. I didn't make it, brother. So looking back, it might have been better to do the marching band. But you ever heard of Air Academy High School? Oh yeah, Champions every year. Yeah, yeah, that was the marching band. Nice. It's— I mean, that in Colorado, I mean, they're no joke. Yeah, like, it's insane. So, um, so basically here's what I got for you. Um, nothing crazy at all. I did put down the wasp here. You don't have any issues on the inside, so you don't need to worry about it. If it does become an issue, please let me know.
Okay, okay.
So the way it'll work is today will just be the $109. That'll start the process. If I told you that today was a One-hit wipeout. Hopefully you would look at me and say, uh, yeah, get out of here, right? It's a process at first. So what's gonna happen is a month after today, the egg sacs open up. That's how science works behind it. I come back next month, break up the egg cycle. So I know it's every 2 months that you'll see me. You're gonna see me pretty like frequently in the beginning. After that, just every 2 months. So like I said earlier, it's just $220 per treatment, but we'll just break it down to easy monthly billing to $109 a month. Now, uh, this is what's cool here. We don't do like long-term contracts, okay? Uh, most companies, they make you lock in to this like 3 to 4 year contract. I do not like that, brother. Um, with us, we're completely different. Um, with us, if you ever did decide to back out— we're just 12 months, so nothing crazy— if you ever did decide to back out within that 12-month period, all we wouldn't make you buy out the whole thing like other people do. All we'd ask is, you know how today normally is $400?
Sure.
And I'm doing it for $109?
Yeah.
I'm basically giving you a discount today of $209 bucks, uh, $291 bucks. If you did back out, we just ask for the discount back, not the whole freaking thing.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, that's how we—
It's kind of like a deposit.
Yeah, it's like, hey dude, stick with us for a year, you're gonna stick with me for more. I've been doing pest control since I had hair. Dude, my customers, they stick around for a long time, okay? And so last but not least, um, I'll have this sent over to you just saying that I went over that. I'll just have you sign there in that white box and I Went over that with you.
Now I do have to be gone for like—
Don't stress. Okay. You don't even need to be gone for the service.
Okay.
Yeah, dude, don't even worry about it. Happy we could help, man. This is okay. So this is good for Tyler. He's brand new.
Okay.
So I get to show him the ropes. They get to— they send the old bald guy out to kind of show the young guys how to do the job.
Yeah, sure.
It's fun. I love my job, if you can tell.
Oh, cool.
It's fun.
It's good to do what you love, right?
It's good. It's not good to do what you don't love. Yeah, that's why with the music stuff, I tell my brother all the time, man, um, if you do what you love, money always comes, and fulfillment is what matters to me. It works, you know what I mean? So it— by the way, address 2159?
Yes.
I just want to make sure I'm not spraying your neighbor's house. Um, but for that first one, we will not charge it until we do the service later on today. That first one, you can either do credit or debit. What would you prefer? Uh, credit. Perfect, brother. Do you have that memorized like my wife, or do you have to pull that one up?
I do have to pull one out.
Yeah, you're good, brother. My, my wife has got that stuff memorized. That's why I'm out here hustling, cuz, uh, she racks up a nice little credit bill. So then when they're here in a second, I'm going to text him my number, take a selfie with him. Good to go. He has a contractor company, so it wasn't somebody that's coming out frequently. I have a Give them in, brother. And then number when you're ready is— all right. And then I got that set up here. I'm going to save that on here. And then you just got an email from my company, White Knight. So I just got that set up here. And then I'm going to go ahead and go to my schedule. Bear with me. Okay. So I'll just go show him here. We're going— who do you think we should schedule on the day? Jose?
Probably Jose.
Jose.
I've got the, the Yeah, either of those, 4 or 5.
Did he say we're okay to do that?
Yeah.
Okay, so we're good on that one. I just got the 4 to 5 appointment scheduled, so you're set today between like 4 PM and 7 PM. Let's see, between 4 and 8, so after 4 o'clock.
