Here are 3 tips to help you get the most out of tempo runs. 1. Try to maintain a very consistent pace throughout your tempo blocks. Aside from their physical benefits, tempo runs offer opportunities to get better at finding a steady rhythm at a desired pace. 2. Make sure your zones are up to date before you start. Pace, power, heart rate, and RPE zones are anchored to lactate threshold, which is the intensity you're targeting in tempo runs. 3. Try to run as relaxed as possible in your tempo blocks. One of the major objectives of tempo runs is to improve the ability to run comfortably and efficiently at moderately fast speeds.
