A short spoken monologue (YouTube) by Matt Dart explaining why he moved from face-to-face personal training to online coaching. He argues online coaching creates a situation where clients 'have no other option but to make it work,' which increases action and accountability. He also stresses the value of working with mentors to create pressure to take action and ensure a return on investment—financially and in learned skills.
This is part of the reason why I decided to stop doing face to face PT and move everyone to online is because when you have no other option but to make it work, then that's where you actually take the biggest amount of action. And that's, that's why a lot of people, that's why I always, not always, but that's why the 95% of the year I'm working with mentor mentors, because you put, there's an added level of pressure for you to take action to get, you know, the return on investment, whether it's financially or time wise, to make it, make it worth your time. So I always say, you know, whether people work with me or someone else, like always, always work with someone to, you know, elevate your game. Because when you do put, you don't want to put immense amounts of pressure on yourself, but that does give you a little bit more pressure to say, like, cool, I'm paying money now to, you know, work with this person. I need to make sure I'm getting a return on investment, whether it's financially or you're learning a significant amount of skills.
