Matt Dart shows personal trainers how to keep clients coming back: forecast their progress and set sequential goals. Break a 20 kg weight loss into 3 kg at 4 weeks, then 15 kg at 6 months. When they hit it, move to the next goal so they always have something to chase.
Are you struggling to keep clients long term? Most personal trainers do, but this is the one way, the simple way to keep clients long term. And I'm going to tell you the exact secret. The secret is you need to forecast results with your clients on a regular basis. So what does that even mean? Forecasting means they always have something to work on or something to look forward to. For example, someone wants to lose 20 kilos. At the four week mark, they've lost three kilos. What you do is you forecast and say, hey, look, if we keep going the way we're going, it's going to take us XYZ time to achieve that goal. Fast forward 6 months, they're at the 15 kilo weight loss goal. They've only got 5 kilos to go. To go. Now, Sally, what are we going to work on? Let's work on strength. Let's set a goal for the next 12 months for your strength. That is how you keep clients long term. So they've always got something to work on.
