In this video Matthew Hussey discusses how authentic self‑expression is the key to deep, lasting connections in modern dating. He explains that men (and women) seek partners with whom they can be their true selves, not just a polished surface. To break through defenses, he offers three practical tactics: (1) use light‑hearted self‑deprecating humor to give the other person permission to relax; (2) deliberately show vulnerability by being willing to be bad at something, which creates shared authenticity; and (3) turn inherently vulnerable moments—like dancing—into fun experiences, shifting the focus from embarrassment to enjoyment. Hussey argues that these subtle behaviors influence the unconscious reasons people stay or leave, which are often hidden from conscious awareness. He promotes a free guide that outlines the five biggest reasons men disappear in dating and how to prevent them, encouraging viewers to download it for deeper insight into blind spots that cause relationships to falter.

Let me ask you one question before we even start this video. Do men feel comfortable dancing in front of you? I always think you kind of know who your friends are or who an amazing boyfriend would be or who an amazing girlfriend would be. When you find someone who you can dance in front of and enjoy yourself even if you're not a good dancer. The question that men are asking themselves that they don't necessarily even know they're asking themselves early on is, is this the kind of woman that I can really be myself with? And I don't mean bad habits and the worst parts of himself. Those are things that he should be working on in a relationship to eradicate. What I mean is, can I really express my authentic self with this person? Because when you feel that, and ladies, I know you can relate to this because you're asking yourself the same question, it's complete liberation in a relationship. It's like you've found a place in the world that's home. The problem is the modern dating world beats this out of so many people because they're living on dating apps, they're living in texting relationships, they're so preoccupied with being cool with not being awkward and they end up living on the surface in their dating lives. They never get to the real anymore. We have to start getting beneath the surface with people that we're around. And there are a couple of practical ways to do that. You could be going on your first date tonight and here are a couple of things you can do. Poke fun of yourself. I don't mean in an insecure way, but don't be afraid to laugh at yourself and to poke fun of something about you because that's going to give him permission to do the same, to not take himself too seriously. Two, be prepared to suck at something so that you're not just putting forward your call front of everything you're really good at, but you're also prepared to engage, to indulge, to talk about things that you're not good at, things you suck at. And you can do it with a light heart. You can do it in a fun way that allows them to not be cool all the time, but to also suck at something. And lastly, When you do find yourself in a situation where it's a bit of a vulnerable moment, that's why I like the idea of dancing as a metaphor because it's a bit of a vulnerable moment for people. Do you create an environment of this is fun? Or do you create an environment of youf look ridiculous? Because if you can switch the culture of a moment from you look ridiculous to isn't this fun? that will make a person want to go on the journey of life with you. Now what I love about this idea is that this is stuff that makes someone fall in love with you that men are not really going to talk to you about. It's not like a guy is going to tell you these are all the keys to making him want to be with you forever. But the real reasons that people stay or leave are rarely the things that they communicate consciously. when we ask them or when they tell us their excuses for not calling back, for not going from date two to date three or date 15 to a relationship. If we want to know the real reasons why people disappear, why we never got that relationship we wanted, we have to go a little deeper, a little more nuanced. I put together a free guide for you that details the five biggest reasons why guys disappear and how you can prevent that from happening in the future. To get that, all you need to do is go to why he's gone this is the information that really tells us where our blind spots are because we're too close to see it and how we can stop that from happening in the future. Go to the link now, download the guide and I will see you there.
