My FINAL Live Masterclass of 2025

Matthew Hussey leads a live coaching session (Sept 2025) answering audience relationship questions and promoting a free virtual event called the Love Life Reset. Key advice covers evaluating age gaps by considering how goals will align over 5–10 years, defining the "right person" as deep compatibility plus a decision to love, not acting as someone else's therapist when they remain attached to a narcissistic ex, trusting your inner voice when a partner's lifestyle (e.g., polyamory) causes persistent pain, signs of avoidant/discard behavior revealed when you are more of yourself, and men’s stated need for "respect" often reflecting a deeper desire to feel seen and accepted. Logistics stated: the Love Life Reset is a free event in mid-September (last free event of the year; next similar event not expected until 2026), signups via lovelifereset.com; Hussey also mentions an October retreat and that his baby is due before the end of 2025.

So, yeah, we're in for a big finish to the year. I've got my retreat in October. And don't get me wrong, the baby would have to be extremely premature. But there that part of my head went off. When I'm going to be in Miami for the retreat, I was like, this baby better not be super, super, super early. I've forbidden the baby to be that early. All right, let's go. So I'm going to answer some questions. Harrison is going to be putting some questions in the chat, but let's see if we've got any questions now. Right now. D Purple full says, do you have a name picked out? We've got something cooking. We've got something cooking, but we're not sure yet. We've got a front runner. It's extraordinary. So thank you for everyone who's using it. Okay, what have we got? Let's see. Did we put. Did. Did you put a question in the private chat yet, Harrison? Okay, you're putting in one right now. All right, let's see. This is on Tick Tock from Lapra Salix, who says, thoughts on age gaps. 26 and 39. Great connection, but age difference. I. I think we have to be careful of age gaps. I think we have to go in with our eyes open. You know, there's relationships that work with big age gaps, but we have to go in knowing what we're getting ourselves into. It's not just about the difference in age today and how that works, because you can have a difference in age today that works quite well. It's about how the age grab. It's about how the age gap ages over time. All right, I want everyone to remember that if you're in an age gap situation, it's not just how does the age gap work today, it's how does this age gap age. You can be in an age gap relationship where everything's working for the first two years and is perfect because both of you are in the same mode. And then two years later, you're saying, I really want children. And they're saying, I'm 10 years away from even thinking about that. That's when age gaps actually affect you. So I think what's really important is not just to consider the. The attraction and the connection today, but to consider whether your goals over the next five to 10 years are going to continue to line up or whether this age gap is going to age badly as certain stages and goals kick in in your life. We have Instagram. In fact, I'm gonna. Before I even go into any more questions, I'm gonna. Can we put some. Can we pin some comments on the various platforms? We are basically doing an event in September, in the middle of September for anybody who is struggling either in a relationship or single. So this isn't just for single people. This is for everybody. I'm calling it the Love Life Reset. And it's for anyone who feels out of control in their love life right now. So if you feel like you are not in control of your emotions, how many people feel like you suffer from anxiety, constant guilt, feeling of not being good enough, a feeling that you're going to get left by somebody feeling like you have to keep trying to please somebody because that's the only way that you can make yourself irreplaceable to them. And you get scared when you're not engaging in that behavior because you feel like they're going to leave you. Um, how many people are single right now and feel like they're running out of time? Uh, you know, you feel like this. Maybe you feel like there's something wrong with you. Maybe you feel like nothing's working out in your love life. Maybe you're scared you're on your timeline is just not gonna happen. Um, if this is you in either category, single or in a relationship, come join me on the Love Life Reset because it is gonna be about bringing back a sense of control in your love life, putting you back in the driver's seat where you feel in control of your emotions, you feel in control of your results, and you feel in control of your future. This is a free event, by the way, so everyone should come the the. If you are on Instagram or Facebook, comment the word reset. If you're on TikTok or YouTube, go to lovelife reset.com that link above me right there and you can sign up for free. Okay, let's get. Keep going on Instagram. Oh, by the way, this is my last free event of the year. I'm not doing another one. I keep saying to people, if you still want progress in your love life this year, it's not too late. You don't have to wake up on January 1st and feel like you're start. You know, like, oh, another year. I'm beginning saying, I want to find love this year because it didn't happen last year. That doesn't have to be the case. There's still time this year. But what matters is what seeds you sow this month in September. By coming to this, you're sowing the right seeds in September. I'm not doing another one of these until sometime next year, so. And this particular event I may not do again at all. So I really want you to come if you know that there's work you want to do on yourself and in your love life. This is from Instagram. Melty Cheesy or Melt Cheesy says, what if soulmate needs more time to be married and make babies due to student but I can't wait due to age. What if so so that your. Your soulmate is a student and you can't wait because of your age. I think soulmate is some. Is a term we have to be careful of. Because soulmate is the kind of word that says, this is my person. And how do you define your person? I believe that our person, that everyone. I want you to think about this for a moment because I think this is really important when we're trying to figure out who is the right person for us. There are two things that I believe determine the success of a relationship. And you're going to be glad you came today just for these two things. Two things I believe determine the success of a relationship and whether someone is the right person. The first is deep compatibility. Deep compatibility. And the reason I say deep compatibility is compatibility is more than connection. Compatibility also means you want the same things out of life. You have goals that are synergistic. You don't have to have all the same goals. You can have goals that your partner doesn't and vice versa, but they have to be synergistic. They have to be able to work together. Right now, what you're saying is there's an incompatibility when it comes to the. To a big goal you have for your life, which is to get married and have kids. And this person isn't on your timeline for that. So you're at risk of jeopardizing what I imagine. Having kids is one of the biggest goals in your life because you've put the label of soulmate on this. But what is a soulmate? Right. I believe that the right person for us is the person we have deep compatibility with. And secondly, and this may not be relevant in your situation because this person is, it sounds like, willing to commit. The second thing we have to have for the right person is someone who is ready to make the decision to love. I'm going to say that again. They are ready to make the decision to love. That is very different from they are ready to fall in love. We have to start framing love as a decision. There are people in life who never find anybody that they're attracted to, Never find anybody that's good enough, never find anybody that they think that they want to commit to. And I would argue those people have not made the decision to love because at some point, we dis. I believe great relationships are built. They are not found. And I believe we have to find someone we can be deeply compatible with and who has the essentially the right stuff to build a great relationship with. Not saying attraction is not important. We need to feel some attraction. We need to respect this person. We need to be compatible with this person. But we have to find someone we're compatible with. And then we make the decision to love somebody. And that's what keeps someone in a relationship, is the decision to love. Because there's no guarantee that four years from now or 10 years from now, your feelings aren't going to change. On some level, your feelings might change. But when we continually make the decision to love someone, we become the fuel for loving. We're not looking at, we're not like trying to locate this feeling from outside of ourselves. We make the decision to love someone. So for anyone who's wondering about what makes someone right for me, it's that they're deeply compatible with you and they make the decision to love you. If you want to know if you're right for somebody else is that you're deeply compatible with that person and you are making the decision to love them. Those two things determine the success of a relationship. All right, let's see, what else do we have? Someone on Tick Tock, I think it's Mal says I was in an abusive relationship and listened to your podcasts rather regularly to get through it. Thank you, but that means so much to me. Thank you so, so much for letting me know. And I will let Stephen and Audrey know as well that you said that, because they will be, they will be really glad to hear that. We're shooting a podcast today. You'll be excited to know. For anyone not listening, the Love Life podcast comes out every week and is available everywhere you you can listen to podcasts. Once again, I am doing a free event, my last big event of the year in the middle of this month called the Love Life Reset. If you're on Instagram, comment reset or on Facebook, comment reset and I'll get you signed up on TikTok or YouTube. You just have to go here. Lovelifereset.com this is for anybody who feels like you're out of control of your emotions in your love life. Maybe you're single and you invest too quickly. Who here gets infatuated too quickly and overinvests too quickly as a result? Who here is afraid they're never going to find love? I'm going to end up alone. And that turns into catastrophic thinking. And then that catastrophic thinking turns into massive anxiety and that affects you in your dating life and the way you come across with people. Or maybe it stops you from taking any risks altogether. Who here is in a relationship with somebody or seeing somebody and can't get control of their emotions and their nervous system? This session is for anybody who wants to take back control in their love life. Who wants to put themselves back in the driver's seat? If you feel like you're always on the back foot in your love life, this is for you. It is happening in the middle of September. It is my last big free event of the year. And then I'm not doing anything like this until 2026. So if you don't want to give up on 2025, and you shouldn't, because there's still time to play for. It's all to play for. Instead of waking up in January going, well, you know, I need to, like, make a resolution about my love life. You can wake up in January going, I feel great about my love life because I have this momentum and I feel myself again and I've taken back control and I feel confident again. That's what this event is going to do for you. So if you haven't already, comment reset on Instagram and Facebook and we'll get you signed up in your DMs or if you are on YouTube or TikTok watching this, just go to lovelifereset.com that link above me. Okay, let's see, what else? What else do we have? Joyce says my ex can't forget her narcissist girlfriend. He. He said that he's done with my ex can't forget his narcissist ex girlfriend. He said that he's done with her, but no way. He's always chasing her, but he's always making way to chat and call me. What can I do? My. That's a tough one. My. My ex can't forget his narcissist ex. So I guess he's your ex now. So you're not with him anymore, but he's still reaching out to you to chat and call you, but he's not over his narcissistic ex. Let's simplify this question, if we can, to what do you do when someone you care about or even love cannot part ways with their narcissistic ex? You stop trying to control that dynamic because it's beyond your control. It's you. You are not. You can't be the force that convinces someone to break free of what's known. I think I saw someone put it in the comments as the trauma bond. You can't. You, a therapist, a coach, a great mentor, an amazing, wise, knowledgeable friend might be able to over time, to help someone start to break free of the shackles of a relationship like that, but you're not their therapist. And I want to make this really clear to everyone. You're not you. It's a therapist's job to be a therapist. It's a best friend's job to be a best friend. When you want someone in your life romantically, when you want to be their partner, it's you. Your job to be their. Their love interest. It's your job to be their romantic partner, their intimate partner. And one of the descriptions of that job is not to be their therapist the whole time, trying to get them to break free, free of their narcissistic ex. The best thing you can do is let them go, be. Be the contrast between them and their ex in the way that you act, in the way that you treat people, in the way that you treat them. Be the contrast that narcissist isn't. But let them go. And if they finally break free and they're ready for someone like you, maybe you'll still be there, maybe you won't. But what you won't have done in the meantime is wasted years of your life. And that's the most common thing in the world, is for people to waste years of their life trying to get someone else to change a dynamic that it is their responsibility ultimately to change, and only they can change it. I promise you, you don't have the power to change that for them. You're not that powerful. So some humility is also required here. Let's see. Comment reset on Instagram or Facebook. If you're not signed up to the Love Life reset or go to lovelife reset. Last free event of the year. This is big for anyone trying to get back control in their love life. Whether you're single or in a relationship, all are welcome. I promise you there's going to be stuff in this that's going to help everybody. Even if you're just someone who wants to be more confident in your life, you want to take back control of your nervous system. And you like my work. I'm pouring a lot into this, so make sure you're there. Last big free event of the year. Come join us. All right, so this one is from Instagram. The guy that I'm dating is poly. Is polygamous. What should I do? He constantly goes on dates with other girls. It hurts so much. You know what the you should do You. If you want me to tell you, I can tell you, but you already know. Like you. You. You said it. It hurts so much. Like, sometimes to know what to do, we have to start listening to our voice when we talk about someone. If every time you talk to your friends, about someone, you sound sad, upset, confused, hurt. Then you're not happy. Ask yourself, the last 10 times I talked about this person with my friends, was there happiness in my voice? Was there joy in my voice? Or was it pain? Was it strained? Was it frustration? Was it depression? Was it deep sadness? If every time you bring someone up is from a place of sadness and there's no joy in your voice, then this person doesn't make you happy. This person doesn't make you happy. So you're not with them because they make you happy. You're with them because there's some hypothetical that you have in your mind about how happy you would be with them if they just stopped being them. I want you to hear that, because that's the reality for so many people. Oh, I'd be so happy with this person if they would just not be them. That's what you're asking for, right? He's polygamous. He. He. He wants to be with multiple people. Oh, my God. I'd be so happy with this guy. He would make me so happy. This would be your dream relationship if he would just stop being this guy. You know what that means? That it's not that guy. Go date a different guy where you don't have to wish for them to be a different guy for you to invent a scenario where you'll be happy. You're not fucking happy, or you wouldn't be asking the question. If you need me to say that, you're welcome. But here's what I'd love for you to start doing. I'd love for you to start listening to your own voice. Because too many of us in life, and I understand this because it's taken me a long time to get this right, but too many of us are not trusting our own voice. You need me to say something that the voice inside of you is already telling you, which is why it's leaking, right? You're not happy. You're not in a happy situation, and. And everyone else is going, hey, are you sure you're okay with this? You know, polyamory and. And him being with other people? Are you sure you're okay with that? You look really happy and you look really, like, at peace, But I just want to double check that's not what's happening. You're the one who's leaking these emotions. You're the one who's telling your friends and me and the world I'm not happy. How is that voice not enough for you? That's the question we have to Ask ourselves. And I get it. I get it. It's taken me a long time to trust my inner voice. It's taken me a long time to give Matthew credit for. For what he already knows. The amount of time in my life I've spent looking for someone else to be the certainty for me. Can you validate what I'm feeling inside? Can you tell me that I'm right for what I'm already feeling? And inside there's a voice that's going, I already know I'm right. Why do you keep needing someone else to validate this shit? Why do you keep needing somebody else to tell you you're you? I knew this. It's like there's a moment where someone else says to you, you should leave. And then you go, you know what? I should leave. And there's a voice inside that says, well, I've been telling you that for the last three years. What it counts when they say it. It doesn't mean anything when I say it. So we have to start listening to our own voice. Your own voice is already. Your own voice is speaking to you through the question you asked me. The only mistake you made was putting a question mark on the end of it of a period because your own voice told you in that statement what you needed to do. Your self doubt and lack of confidence and insecurity about listening to yourself turned it into a question mark. If you relate to that, say me in the comments, if that's something you relate to, is looking for certainty on the outside because you don't give yourself credit for what you already know, leave a comment. I didn't expect to get that fired up this morning. Okay. I didn't expect to swear so much this morning. You made me swear this. What? I love this raw Matthew version. Okay, let's see, what do we have? Instagram, Sarah says, dismissive avoidance. How can you identify them in the very early weeks of dating, even when they are acting perfect, it just brings heartbreak when they discard you. That's an interesting question. Look, firstly, we will learn more about who someone is if we are more of who we are. I'm going to repeat that because it's very, very important. You'll learn more of who someone is if you're more of who you are. A lot of the time in early dating we don't learn who someone is because we're not ourselves. Right? Think about it. When. What do we. What's one of the things we do in early dating? One of the traits we have in early dating, we we act. We try to act perfect. We try to put up as little fuss as possible. We. If. If something has upset us or if we feel like, you know, you've. You've. I've come to your part of town the last five times, you haven't come to see me at all. And then they offer you a date and it's in their part of town. Again, we don't say anything. We go along with it because we want to be convenient. We want to be like. We want to be someone who's low maintenance. We don't want to do anything that could disrupt this flow because God forbid we get in the way of this romantic energy, this romantic flow, so we're less of ourselves. And we know this because, you know, a year into a relationship, we might start speaking up, but a lot of us in the first few weeks of dating don't. And so we don't learn what happens when we have to be. I'm not saying do it for the sake of it, but when we have to be a little inconvenient because, you know, we don't have time to get to their part of town tonight and we need them to come to ours or, you know, when there's some. The communication isn't really working for us when we don't speak up. We never learn what happens when we have an honest conversation with that person. Because if we were able to share more of ourselves, be more. A little bit more vulnerable, have a bit more of an honest exchange, we would learn who they are when met with honest exchanges, when met with any level of inconvenience or. Or are challenged in any way. And again, I'm not suggesting that in early dating you go around challenging people for the sake of it. I'm just talking about being yourself and expressing your needs and who you are authentically. We learn more of how quickly someone discards us or it becomes avoidant when we do those things. The problem is a lot of us leave it too late to do those things. So that's the first point. The other thing I would say is pay attention to the other parts of their life because it's. You'll see if people have a sense of loyalty to things by the way they talk about them. When Audrey moved to Los Angeles to be with me, when my wife. Because when we started, we were long distance. And one of the things that was really, really painful for her when she was coming to be with me was her friendships. She had really close friendships, and she really values the relationships in her life. So for her, moving was a really big deal because she had people that she really, really cared about and she didn't want to lose connection with them. That will tell you right away that what she values is relationships. And she values the history in relationships. So she doesn't just give things up like that without a thought, like, oh, I don't care. Yeah, and I'm not bothered about the leaving the people back home. Like, she cared about those things. Right. Look for those values in people. Do they treat things in their life with care? Or is everything disposable? Is everything replaceable? Can they reinvent themselves overnight and lose everything and not care about it? Do they? Those things are signs of how quickly they can give you up, too, in the future. Let me know if that resonated with you. Kathy says, you are absolutely right. All right, let's see. Clariel says, I have UTI right now. It's really painful. UTIs are the worst. It's the most, like, terrible. I'm so sorry. They're the worst. Anytime anyone has a uti, part of my heart breaks for them in that moment. It's a horrible feeling. I'm sorry you're going through that. All right, let's see. Carrie Anne, that's really great advice. Thank you, Carrie Anne. Again, Om Haya says, do you have online courses? Where have you been for the last 17 years? I. Yes, I do have online courses, but don't worry about those online courses right now. Just join me for a free event that I've got going on in the middle of this month called the Love Life Reset Bing up there. You'll see the link lovelifereset.com this is an event I'm doing in the middle of this month. You're gonna love it. Just show up. I don't care if you're single or in a relationship. This is for everybody. And it's really gonna make a difference to how in control you feel of your emotions and your love life. Last event of the year, guys. I don't know how many times I need to say it. This is the last event this year. If you missed this one, you're going to have to wait till next year to get this kind of momentum in your confidence and in your love life. So make sure that you are there. If you're on Instagram or Facebook, comment the word reset and I'll get you signed up. Okay? Comment the word reset and I will get you signed up. I'll just look for me in your DMs. There'll be a link to the event where you can sign up. It'll take 10 seconds. And if you're not, by the way, that won't work if you're on YouTube or tick tock. But what will work is going to lovelifereset.com all right, let's see. Bella Fit says. What do men need? What do men mean when they talk about needing respect? I really don't get this. I, it's an interesting one because that's the kind of question that would get lots of people riled up and be like, men. The male ego, this, that, and the other. And of course, the male need for respect is responsible for some truly heinous and despicable things in this world. But there's also just, I think a generalized kind of male needs to want to feel respected, to want to feel admired, to want to feel like they are significant. And you can call that respect, you can call it admiration, you can, you can call it men wanting to be appreciated. But I, and I think underneath all of those things is the desire to feel sane and valued for what is seen. And of course, there are plenty of men who take that to really unhealthy degrees. And they, they haven't, they have a desperate need for approval that will never be satiated and is always hungry and always hunting. But a lot of guys, you know, just want to feel seen and for who they are and they want to feel like, you know, I, I think it's hard for guys. It's hard for guys because they're, you know, guys. Men live in a world where they are told that they, you know, you, you don't have to be respected by being, you know, masculine and toxic and an, and all of this. And yet what they find is those guys who are like that seem, they, they, what they, their experience. A lot of them is those guys get more respect than I do. Like, I, I'm, I'm nice and I don't get the same respect as that guy who's not nice or that guy who just takes what he wants and treats people like crap and as if they're disposable. I, you know, so then unfortunately, a lot of men are like, well, I have to be more like that in order to, to, to be respected. And so a lot of men, I think, depart from their nature, from their innate sort of goodness and vulnerability because they feel like in order to get respect, I have to be more like this. But at the heart of all men is, is just, I think, a, a desire to be valued and appreciated. For what they are. And I think that one of the greatest gifts, if I can say this, that anyone but, you know, a woman can give a man is to make him feel respected and special for whatever his innate gifts are. Because every man is different. Every man shows up in the world slightly differently. And. And, you know, what we want at our core is to be accepted. You know, Mr. Rogers had a great. Had a great line where he said. I think he said, no, I don't believe that any child can feel. I think it's. I don't think any child can feel confident and happy unless he or she is. Respect is loved and accepted for exactly who he or she is. And I. That's not to say, of course, as adults, that we can't be better, that we can't. That there aren't improvements we need to make. But I do think that one of the places, One of the foundations of where we get better from is when we feel truly recognized for what we already are. And so I wouldn't get caught up on the word respect. I think respect often is the insecure front man for a deeper sense of wanting to be loved and accepted for who we are and the gifts we naturally have. Does that make sense? I think that when we don't feel accepted or good enough for who we are and what we innately have, we turn to respect as a kind of insecure need for, you know, for that respect. For, like, well, if I can't feel loved and accepted, then I. I want to be respected. You'll respect me. And when I think about respect in that way, it's like it comes from an insecure place. Right? If I'm always like, I need to be respected, there's a huge amount of insecurity and fragility behind that. Because someone who feels loved and accepted, either because they love and accept themselves or because they feel loved and accepted in the community or the relationship they're in, doesn't obsess over being respected. Does that make sense? Like, I feel so loved and accepted by my wife, Audrey, I can tell you, I don't. I don't feel this constant feeling of, like, but does she respect me? It doesn't. That's not going around in my head all the time. It's not. That's not the headline. Of course I want her to respect me in the same way I respect her. I want us to respect each other. But I don't have this, like, overt need to be respected. But I feel. I feel very loved and accepted. And I think when people feel loved and accepted, they don't obsess over being respected in the same way. I think respect is often the insecure edge of wanting love and, and acceptance and, and, and feeling, you know, that feeling of like, everything. Anytime someone is always hypersensitive to having been disrespected, you know that there's a huge ego at play or a huge amount of ego at play. Because people who are comfortable in themselves don't go through life constantly looking for ways that they're being disrespected. The other people don't have that kind of power over them. Okay, guys, I am gonna say this one more time because I don't want you to miss this. And I don't think I'm gonna go live again next week. I. It's possible. I don't think I am. I've got so much in my schedule. If you want to join me again and get real coaching from me, I am going live in the middle of this month for a big free event called the Love Life Reset. You can join here. If you're on Instagram or Facebook, comment the word reset. If you're on YouTube or TikTok, just go to this link. Guys, if you find. If you're here, my guess is it's because you resonate with me. The way I say things, my advice, my style of coaching, and I appreciate that because I've been doing this for 17 years of my life. This is my life's work. I've worked with millions of people at this point. I've written two New York Times bestselling books on this subject. This is, this is like the reason I laugh when someone said, do you have online courses? Is I've been doing this for nearly two decades now and have been in the trenches working with real people on their confidence, their love life, what's holding them back, the blind spots that they cannot see because they're too close to themselves. This is what I do. This is what I've dedicated my life to. And it's all. It's also, by the way, what I'm studying all the time. I'm still a student, I'm still learning, I'm always studying. But if you value my way of teaching and my way of coaching, when I offer a moment like this, when I'm doing something, that's a lot of energy and work is being poured into this 90 minute session that I'm doing, take that opportunity. Because it's not so often that we find people in life that really resonate with us and who we really enjoy working with and learning from and dialoguing with. That's not that common when we, I believe when we find someone like that, it's special and we should continue, you know, we should double down on that relationship. So I, I, my sincere hope is that you come with me and join me on this free event. It's going to be a great event and I can only offer one more of these before the end of the year because the schedule is just too crazy. Not least of which because we have baby coming. So I really hope you join us again. The link is lovelife reset.com don't feel excluded. If you're in a relationship, this is for everybody. Anyone who feels like their emotions control them. They don't control their emotions. Your confidence self is not coming to the surface. You're not waking up as the most powerful version of yourself every day. This is for you. And if you're single, it's going to help you find love faster. If you're in a relationship, it's going to help you bring the most confident version of yourself to that relationship, the most powerful, magnetic and attractive version of yourself to that relationship and of course, to your life. I'm excited to see you. It's going to be a really good one and we're going to have an amazing few months of momentum leading into the end of the year as a result of this session together. All right, I'll see you soon. Thank you so much for joining me. As always, I really appreciate the time. The thing I always value the most is the time and the energy that you give me. And I'll see you in the middle of the month for the Love Life reset. Bye, everyone.
