Hi guys, it's Matthew. I'm coming to you from Cyprus right now, which is really beautiful. Jameson wanted to film in what he calls the golden hour. The sun is beginning to set. It's very beautiful out here. I wish you were here with us, but since you can't be, I'm not stopping making a video for you. I'm going to continue. And I wanted to talk today about an issue that is big in the self-help world. And I don't know if Stephen Covey was the one who came up with the concept, but certainly he talked a lot about it in his book, the Seven Habits. He talked about doing what is important, not just doing what is urgent in life. I want to look at this from a different angle today. I don't want to talk about that concept, but I want to use the concept because I believe the fact that people focus on what's urgent and not what's important presents a very unique opportunity for us. If we're a little more organized and a little more shrewd than everybody else. For me, the most important part is understanding that most people have not set their priorities for the day. Forget their year. I'm just talking about the day. Most people don't wake up with a clear sense of what is important and what they need to prioritize. So if we actually put what we want done in front of those people, chances are it will immediately become a priority for them because they haven't decided what else is important. So when they open their inbox and all of a sudden there's an email for us asking for something, that becomes the important thing to them. They think, oh, I'll do that because I don't know what else to focus on. If we call them and make ourselves present in their lives, if we put their focus on us, they're immediately in that moment going to think, oh, I need to do that thing that I said I'd do on the phone call. See, what I'm really talking about here, and I don't mean this in a mean way, is taking advantage of other people's lack of organization. There are things that you may know would be good for you and other people if you could get other people to take action on them. There might be business deals right now that you know would be good for everybody, but you just can't get this person to say yes or to actually take the action that's necessary. So how do you make what is important to you urgent to somebody else? Firstly, speak a little louder, right? Shout a little louder. Most people, they hide and they don't actually put themselves on someone else's radar. Think about it this way. If this person doesn't know what to focus on, in their day, hearing from you when you want something to get done, when you're asking them to do something, gives them something to focus on in that moment. So in that sense, you are taking advantage of the fact that they haven't prioritized. Also, be more frequent with your communication. I can't say how often opportunities don't get created because someone calls someone or emails once and then never follows up. And they say, well, they didn't email me back. They didn't call me back. And, and you know, I just didn't want to reach out again. Well, actually, if we had reached out maybe a second or a third time, we would have gotten something back. I've responded to a lot of people who didn't get, who I didn't get back to the first time on the second or third time because they put it back to the top of my inbox. Shout a little louder and be a little more frequent with communication. Now, this won't work with many of those super successful people who really are laser beam focused with what they choose to spend their day on, with their priorities. They're really good at saying no to everything that isn't one of their priorities. That group of people, it's not going to work just to make it urgent to them. You have to make it important to them. Now, how do you make it important to them? You have to figure out what the benefit is to them, to what you're asking for. It's unbelievable the number of phone calls that get made, the number of emails that get sent, where the entire time the focus is just on what I want, how it's going to benefit me, what I want you to do. And we don't actually put ourselves in the mindset of what the other person is going through. How is it going to benefit them? how will they see the advantage in what we're asking them to do? But bottom line is this, most people are disorganized, most people don't know what to do with their day, most people haven't figured out what their priorities in life are. So if you have things that you wanna get done, if you have projects that you wanna move forward, you will actually be able to move most of them forward simply by being the person who puts the urgent in front of them instead of allowing someone else to do it. Take care my friends, I will see you soon. Lots of love. Enjoyed doing something a little different from the love life stuff today, but we'll be back with more love life advice soon. So thank you. Have a great week.
