Wait Or Create -- From Matthew Hussey... Get The Guy

Matthew Hussey introduces a wristband printed with "wait" and "create" as a reminder to act instead of hesitate. He explains how small creative acts build self-respect, spark new thinking, and compound into bigger wins. Fear often hides behind indecision, but a physical cue can shift you toward action.

I got something in the post today that I am crazy excited about this thing. See, on one side of this bracelet, it says, wait, there's a question mark. The other side says create. Do I want to wait for what I want, or do I want to go out and create it? I recently got these wristbands made up for people who are coming on my retreat. And the idea was that this wristband contained a. A slogan, a mantra that people could use that would always be a trigger for action. I think so often when people say, I don't know what to do, it's really just a euphemism for I'm scared to do the thing I know I should do. Life ain't easy, but it doesn't have to be complex every day it can be as simple as that choice to either wait or create. You know, you're not good at flirting. That's fine. Go and create new ways of flirting. Use different words, Stand differently, move differently. Use a different tempo in your voice, a different intonation. John Ruskin English writer He said, quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort. Now, I'm here to tell you that you don't always start things with intelligent effort. John Ruskin was right. Quality comes from intelligent effort. But you don't always know what the intelligent effort is in the beginning. Sometimes it starts with just effort. What I want people to know when they come on my retreat is that anytime they're feeling apathetic, they're feeling frustrated, they're feeling indecisive, they're feeling lazy or scared, they're afraid of rejection. I want them to look down at this thing and remember, I have two options right now. It's that simple. Wait or create. Which person do I want to be? I went through a period in my life recently where I was waiting too much because I lost my motivation in a certain way. I'd always been driven by fear, right? Fear for not surviving, for not having enough money to support myself and my family. And for the first time in my life, I was okay and my family were okay, and we had everything we needed. And so all of a sudden, I've lost that initial motivation that drove me. But let me tell you something ironic. When I was creating these bands, when they first came through, as soon as it came through, I got excited again because I realized, oh my God, I know my driver. My driver is quality. Creating new solutions, being creative. My whole motivation now has changed. When I created this, this little thing, it gave way to a whole bunch of new emotions. For me. See, it doesn't take big actions to create big emotions. A small act of creation can change your entire world. When you do something, when you create in a certain way, here's what happens. You like yourself more. That's number one. You respect yourself more. The second thing is you stimulate new ways of thinking. You get new solutions to old problems because you're now in an active state. And the third thing is, you start to get momentum. Because, of course, you create one way, you think of another, you create another way, you do another thing. Layers of success. One on top of another, on top of another. I don't have these wristbands for everyone right now. They're just for people who are coming on the retreat. But I want you to find your own way of triggering that message. How am I going to do this in my life right now? Am I going to be a waiter or creator? And I want you to think about that in any given moment. So, my friends, it's been so exciting to be here with you. I'm trying to put out more content for you these days and really give you things that you can go away and use and be excited about to energize you. That's why I'm putting more and more energy into this blog to give you things that you can use that can help you regardless of what type of journey you take with me. Take care, guys. I'll see you soon.
