When we keep people in our lives who are wrong for us or who we know will never give us what we want, or we know we're not that into, they still take up psychological space in our minds. They take up physical space. They take up Friday nights. They keep our head down and looking at our phone when we could be looking up in that coffee shop we're in. Like we are taking ourselves out of the world and reducing the opportunities for possibility to enter. Love needs space. And the only way to create space, as I talk about in the book, is to be happy enough with where you are now. Happy enough is not like blissfully happy. It's just happy enough that I can hold. It's a very powerful place to be.
