Hi everyone, my name is Matt, and welcome to another Bullet Journal productivity video. In this episode, I'm going to be doing a plan with me video for the upcoming month of August 2020. Going to be telling you about some of the things that I have coming up, not just on the channel, but how I'm planning out the month, a little bit of a review of what July was like, and some things that I have happening that I'm sure you would like to be a part of as well. One thing that I'm super excited about is that I'm doing a collaboration video with Amy Landino on this Wednesday, August 5th, we're going to be sharing our top 10 bullet journal tips for productivity. I'm going to share 5, Amy's going to share 5, and we're also going to be doing a huge giveaway at the end. It's the biggest giveaway that I know I've ever done. I think maybe that Amy's ever done also. So I'm super excited to share all of those tips and the giveaway with you starting this Wednesday. In July and into August, I've been using and testing the Baron Fig Do Work journal. There's a lot of things that I like about it. So I did a review video of it, you know, several weeks ago, so make sure you check that out. I wanted to use this for at least a couple of months that I could give you a, like, legitimate recap, like, this is how it works, this is how I looked at it. And so you're gonna get a little bit of that in this video as well, now that I have, like, a few weeks of work actually in it. I have really liked it for the daily and weekly spreads. Leaves a couple of things to be desired from a monthly and habit tracking standpoint. I think I would still stick stick with— after just a month of using it, I think I would still stick with the Baron Fig Clear Habit Journal. But let me tell you, let me show you what I'm doing to plan out August, some of the things that I'm getting into, and opportunities for you to get involved. So one of the big things just from the beginning that I am missing in the Do Work Journal is you see that even though there is a quarterly overview page at the beginning of this, there's nothing for like a month at a glance or a monthly planning page. And so I've made my own here, which is totally fine, but it's a little out of context with the rest of the journal. But let's flip over real quick to page 180 so I can show you— here we go, page 180— what my monthly layout is looking like and how I'm connecting it back to the things that I have to do every single week and every single day. So if you've been following my Bullet Journal videos for any length of time, you'll see that this is a very normal monthly spread for me. Here's another example for a different video that I'm putting together. But what this is is just day of the month, day of the week, and then top, top events, or like bigger things that are happening on these particular days, like when I have videos coming out, like this video on August 5th with Amy Landino that I'm really excited about. The different guests for the mastermind calls. And then the other thing that I have been doing, again, in past— in other layouts is that I'll do my habit tracking on this next page in the daily highlight. I attempted to put my habits here because it is possible on the daily highlights here on like the daily pages to like add in a quick highlight here. And so I thought I'd do that. But then as it turned out, I already like wrote in to like my habits column without realizing it. So I went ahead and just recreated that spread on the next page. So just day of the month, MMJR, which stands for movement, meditation, journaling, and reading. These are my 4 keystone core habits. And then the highlight here as well for the day. So that is what I'm doing. Let me show you a couple of ways how this connects back to the daily and weekly spreads. If we come back and we look at— okay, this is actually doing this on the day, but going to have the August Plan With Me video out on the 2nd, and then on the 5th, a collab video with Amy. And so if we look over here, back on the weekly overview for August 3rd through 7th, can see on day 3 being the 5th, publish Amy video. So I have all of my weekly, like weekly big, big chunks, big rocks, weekly deliverables here. And then what I'm doing each day is I will plan out like the top 3, the top 3 tasks that connect to these top 3 objectives or deliverables for the week. And then I just write out kind of every single day. So you can see on August 5th here, I already have as my top task, make sure the Amy video is published. The other things that I can continue to like connect back is on August 12th, a Wednesday, Thiago Forte is doing a presentation for my group coaching mastermind. So if we look forward to To the weekly spread, and I haven't filled out all of this yet. I just wanted to show you the main things of how I'm connecting all of these and keep it clear so there wasn't like a bunch of other things for you to read. But for this next week, August 10th through 14th, on the 12th, mastermind call with Tiago, and then continuing to write out my goals and everything that I want to get done for the week ahead. Same thing on August 17th through 1st, doing the launch week for the Bullet Journal Basics Guide, last day for a challenge that I'm running with Podia. So all these things you can see are written out in the monthly events. And if we skip over a little bit, this is the other thing. So I already showed you that there is a place, of course, for the quarterly overview, but there's nothing for like the month-by-month goals. So I just have another page for this in the like blank unstructured dot grid pages that are in the back of the journal. And so this is where I'm writing out my August goals. So number 1, publish and do an awesome bang-up job with the Bullet Journal Basics Guide. And then I'm listing like the main deliverables, the main subtasks or subgoals of this overall objective. So 6 lessons, videos, templates, sales page, community setup, also doing a couple of challenges and putting together an online summit with Podia. Those lessons for the Audience Building Challenge ABC are almost done, so this will be pretty much wrapped up by the first week, and I'll be focusing more on speakers and schedule. I need to finalize the last round of my Mastermind Expert Series and then working on a rock wall with my brother for my two boys. So like I said, main goals for the month. And then what I'm continuing to do is go back into the, like, pre-planning out the weekly overviews and getting at least like that top goal that is connecting back to the, like, goal list right here, and then writing in those daily highlights. So this one is when I'm launching the Bullet Journal Basics live series and, like, setup guide.. And so on Sunday there will be a live call about doing your weekly preview and then talking about daily logging and task lists, time blocking, trackers, monthly layout and goals, and then the weekly review. And so all of these are gonna be live calls, again, connecting back to this setup, this goal right here, and bringing it into that weekly spread, which will then allow me to write out every single day and make sure that I'm in the right place and staying on track. So pretty simple, pretty straightforward, the way that I like to do it because it keeps me focused and is a very efficient and effective use of my time. But just as a quick recap, I do a monthly, like, very simple monthly spread, day of the month, day of the week, main events. I also track my habits and my daily highlight on the next page.. And then I also write out my goals for the month, usually just 3 or 4 at the most. And then I go into each weekly overview page and write down what are like the sub-goals that go into each week. So first week, here's the next week: Bullet Journal Basics lesson edits, finish the Podia Summit plan and book all speakers. That Tiago mastermind call is coming up on the 12th as well. And after I'm done laying out all of the weeks, I'm going into like specific days and writing down, I'm going to specific days and making sure that whether it's, you know, my wife is working today, just a reminder to myself, or writing down like, make sure you get the final clip to Amy, pay out the affiliates, launch the course, all of that is written down on the daily. So it goes from monthly, monthly main events, main events for the month, goals for the month, deliverables for each week, and then a plan and task for each day. I get questions all the time about like, what should I do to start my Bullet Journal? What are some things that you would recommend? So I was talking about this on my Insta story. You can follow me in the link description below. But I was asking a lot of people on Instagram, you know, what would you like to see? With Bullet Journal Basics, I'm going to be doing a very in-depth course that I'm planning out and starting to promote later this month. It's going to be super, super low price, very accessible, so that everyone can get access to it that wants it. But good questions like this one from, from Andrew: Project management, when does a to-do list move to a collection? Sarah Taylor asks, how to get past perfectionism in your journal and embrace the messiness? Looks like Kara asked how to maintain consistency. And so there are a lot of great questions, and people ask me these all the time. I get a new question like every single day. And so I wanted to put together a super in-depth, anyone can use to get set up and stay consistent with their bullet journal, be really successful with it. Because I know there is a lot of like angst when it comes to bullet journaling, and that's something that I I've always sought in this channel and on these videos to show you that, like, making a Bullet Journal and being consistent with it and staying really productive with it is not something that should cause you stress. It should be a tool of productivity and growth for you. And so that's a lot of what this course, this guide, is going to be showing you.
