My One Page Daily Bullet Journal Spread

In this video Matt Ragland walks viewers through his comprehensive one‑page bullet‑journal system that integrates daily, weekly, and monthly planning. He explains the multilingual monthly layout, a weekly quadrant tracker for habits, and a detailed daily spread that runs hour‑by‑hour from 5 am to 11 pm. The daily page includes top tasks, gratitude entries, a time‑tracking section that feeds into a 10‑block visual, a work‑graph, goal‑process alignment, habit check‑offs, and journaling prompts (“today I learned / tomorrow I will”). Ragland shows how each day’s data rolls up into weekly habit quadrants and monthly overviews, tying actions to larger goals and “growing edges.” He promotes a downloadable PDF of the layout, an email newsletter, a 30‑day time‑tracking challenge, and upcoming events such as a ConvertKit conference and personal travel. Throughout, he emphasizes mindful time use, the importance of writing down nagging items, and the role of gratitude and reflection in productivity.

Hey everybody, uh, welcome back to me. My name is Matt. I hope you're doing well. It's been a couple of weeks. If you've been watching me for a while, uh, it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted a video. I'm really sorry about that. I've been super busy with some really cool stuff I can't wait to show you, but But the main thing that I want to show you in— focus in properly— the main thing that I want to show you in this week's, month's, June plan with me video is that something I've been putting together, you just saw like a little, just a little bit of it in the, you know, the book raising that I did, is that I'm really kind of trying to put together everything that I've been talking about with you over the past several months in terms of daily tracking and goals and habits and the 10 blocks and putting them all to a one-page page spread that I can use every single day and, you know, plan out over the week, over the month. Because if you've been following me for any amount of time, you know that the way I believe, the way that we spend our days and our weeks and our months is, you know, when it comes down to it, that's the way we spend our lives. And so being really focused and being really mindful of where we're putting our time and what we're spending our time on is really, really important. If you want this daily layout with the hours, with the top task gratitude, The Daily Graph goals, habits, learnings, and time tracking, go ahead and click in the description below. You're going to go to a landing page where you can pop in your email, but definitely encourage you to check that out. You'll also get other bullet journal emails from me. Everything's connected. You're going to get my whole system, so check that out. I think you will like it. Really glad that you're here. I'm excited to share this video with you. I've been kind of planning it out for the last couple of weeks, so here we go. First off, can you believe that it's June? I'm just, this year seems to be flying by even more. I think it speeds up when you have kids. But here we are. Let's zoom in just a little bit. Zoom in, not out. And just take a look. So you've seen this layout from me before. I've got just the days going across horizontally. Different languages. So English up top, Spanish, French, German. I didn't have the opportunity to screw up my Japanese characters this time, but that's okay. And thank you for all the comments explaining what I did wrong. But this is going to be the, like, main monthly layout.. And what I'm doing, I'm going to show you how I'm doing this in the daily spread, but what I'm doing here is that it's not, it's not a Pokémon ball. It's not a Pokémon ball. What this is, is this is going to be like a quick look at a weekly tracker. So maybe I'll do another video about this if you like it, that goes into more detail. But for this one, these are the 5 kind of quadrants or sections. And if I hit my weekly goals for these habits, then I get to fill in that portion. Okay? And so if I work out 3 days out of the 7, then I get to fill that in. If I create something 3 days, I get to fill it in. If I do deep work for 4 days, then I get to fill this in. And journal 5 days, and then go on a date with my wife. I do this because we have a 3-year-old. And so one day, even if it's just at home, that's what gets filled in the middle here. Okay. And I'll just have one of these for every single week of the upcoming month. So as you can see, this is kind of diving into, this is kind of piggybacking on the end of May. But this is the month layout. Again, it's going to be primary events and going on a trip in June as well. And then the ConvertKit conference. Is going to be at the end of the month as well, so I'll be traveling for that. The reason that I wanted to write this down, and probably you all have these things, is something that's just nagging you in the back of your mind, like, gosh, I got to do this. This is where I want to, I want to write down maybe 1 or 2 things each week that have been nagging me that I want to actually complete. So just getting that, like we've talked about a lot of times, just getting something out on paper can be a huge help. Okay, here's a look at the daily spread. So this is actually Memorial Day, so I'd still worked, well, I still worked a good bit, but that's why it's not filled up right here. So let me explain this to you. This is the daily layout. This is hour by hour starting at 5 AM and going down to what would be, let me just make a note down here, the end of this would be 11 PM. So This was a big day. I did a lot. You can see everything's filled in, and, you know, I just stayed up a little later than I should have. The daily tasks, the top tasks of the day, are still right here. And then this is where my time tracker is going down here. And so all I'm doing with the time tracker is I'm writing down my primary activities, and then I'm just taking them from the hour-by-hour list over here. And so you can see I'm just, I'm just calculating them at the end of the day. So I knew that I slept about 7.5 hours, went to bed early on Sunday. And so, you know, hence 30 blocks. If you want to know like what the heck this is, if you're pretty new, there's going to be a video link up there and in the description down here, or maybe the video is going to be up there. It's going to be in a card and you can learn more about the time tracking. The other thing up here is that I'm writing down things that I'm grateful for. So something in the morning, couple of things in the evening. Then my work graph. So this is like a zoomed-in version, a daily version of what is going to come over here in the weekly version. So you can see that for the most part, I wrote one email, but then I just worked answering, answering emails for ConvertKit. So that was pretty much the rest of it. So then this whole section then comes over here. All right, and then I'm writing down the goals and the processes, basically the processes that are getting me to the goals. So send email, update the replays, and the newsletter, complete the weekly spread. This is for you guys right here, working on this. And then the habits that are a part of that as well. Okay, so this is really— think about it in this term, in these terms, that what I'm doing in the day is playing itself out to the goals that I have here. And the blocks that I have filled out here. What I do here in the day is added into what I have for the week. All right. And really what I have for more of the month or the quarter. A couple other little things that I have that we've talked about in the past, just trying to make little notes. This is a bit of a journaling. I know the last video is about journaling, so if you want to check that out, view the card or it'll be tagged on at the end. But today I learned and tomorrow I need to. So I found this one particularly useful is like if there's something, and this kind of goes along with the nagging issues, but if there's something that's kind of nagging at me from the end of the day, then I'm just going to write it down here that tomorrow I need to do this. And then I'm going to make sure that the thing that I wrote down tomorrow I need to have ready is then right here as like a top task. Right? So anything that happens to be here gets migrated over here. And you can see the same thing. I'm, I'm testing a couple of different layouts. So this one has all the lines. I don't know if I like that. This one is without lines because, you know, the dot, the dot grid is there. The dot grid is there, my friends. A couple of, well, just one icon still right here. Deep Work, little, little hole diving in. Still the gratitude, adding in the activity. One thing that I haven't done, I'll probably do this at the end of the week, is just culminate— or not, not culminate, that's not the right word— just add up all of the different days' blocks and put that into a week. So probably I'm just thinking about this on the fly, actually. I'll probably actually put this somewhere, like make a little space here because this week is successful. I don't want to overload this because then that'll be hard to achieve and I'll feel bad. So I'll probably put like time tracking. I'll do that. And then I'll have, have them all listed out. Newbill. Shout out to Newbill. Corey and team. So this way I'm saying I'll probably bump this up a little bit. This way I'm saying this is what I've spent the time on and this is who or what I've spent it on just a little bit more. So general and then some more details right here. So, more top tasks. So, just go ahead and knock some of these out. Like I said, it's May 31st. It's crazy. And shoot video. That's happening right now. Oh my gosh. And everything right here. So, we're gonna go ahead and put video in. That's what I'm working on. And then everything else. So, I'll just keep adding these in. You can see I haven't quite finished this one off, but I did exercise this morning. I did read, I did journal, and I'm making something. Don't know if I'm gonna get to deep work. I don't know if I'm gonna get to deep work today, unless you count the 3 straight hours of meetings as deep work. Tomorrow, this is Friday, June 1st. It's mostly blank right now except for a couple of things right here. I don't have any meetings scheduled, but my wife works tomorrow, and so I just have that noted in a couple of places. And yeah, that's what, that's what it'll look like. Let me show you in a completely kind of blank layout is, you know, goals this week is successful. Let's go ahead and add in, because we just, we just got it, a nice big fat Pigma graphic right here. Let's go ahead and add in. Okay, so you might be asking yourself real quick, what is growing edges instead of nagging? This is an old term from a past job that I had. Shout out to Camp Rockmon for Boys. And the things that we needed to work on or things that were bothering us, we used to call those growing edges. So I'm going to just try that as a term. And then here's that bold graphic one pen over here for the hours, top tasks, time tracking, goals, habits, gratitude, daily graph that will then play into the 10 blocks over here. Today I learned, and tomorrow I will. All right everyone, thank you so much for watching this. Before you go, remember that if you want to download the PDF for this, you can click in the card or the description below, and you can get that right away and be on the email list. If you're already on the email list, then just look for the newsletter that's going to come out that's going to have this PDF in it. So you don't need to sign back up again. I'm going to send it to you, don't worry about that. Last thing to bring up to you is that if you did our 5-day time tracking challenge back in March, that's being extended to an entire month in July. A 30-day time tracking challenge. There was so much good feedback and so many people that have been through the 5-day, and what I was seeing for myself is that when I was able to go through it for 30 days and be really mindful about my time, it really started to pay dividends and for how I started to, like, live my life and pay attention to my time going forward. So if you're thinking, like, do I have to track my time all the time, like, for the rest of my life? You don't have to. I think it helps, but if you can do it for 30 days, and I'm going to have a specific, like, daily challenge for everyone. So if you're interested in that, just go ahead and sign up for the email list and you're going to be on, you're going to be on the list for that. Okay, and you'll, you'll know about it. All right, hope you have a great week, have a great start to June. There's going to be more videos coming your way and I can't wait to share them with you. Have a great day. Bye.
