No Regrets

Matt argues that a regret-free life comes from daily choices, not big decisions. He never regrets exercise, reading, eating well, or present time with family. But scrolling social media, binge-watching YouTube, and procrastinating always leave him regretting the time lost.

Hey everyone, Matt here. Thanks for joining me on my run today. Trail running, Black Mountain, North Carolina. While I was running, as I started to run, I was thinking, I never regret going for a run. I never like get back like, ugh, hated that. Even when I don't have a good run, I never regret it. Like, I never regret exercising. I never regret eating well because they make me feel good. I was thinking about how we always want to live with no regrets. Common inspiration, purpose. A lot of times we think about living with no regrets in terms of the big picture, and that's really valuable. Like, I, you know, I never regretted spending more time with my kids, never regretted going to the of course, but that big picture is made up in thousands of daily pictures. You know, that's where, that's where it builds one way or another, regrets or no regrets. So I was thinking about just as I've been running, like, what are the things that I can control? What are the things that I can do on a daily basis that I don't have any regrets about? That's exercise. That's reading a good book, that's eating good food, that's spending really present quality time with my wife, my son. I don't regret any of those things. No way. Yeah, I regret maybe looking too much at social media, maybe too much time on you— even on YouTube. Those, you know, reading stuff that doesn't help, watching doing things that don't fulfill me. Those are the kind of things that you regret. Maybe like even with work, and I love my work, you know, driving through that last 30 minutes an hour when it can wait until tomorrow. Maybe it's just me that's pushing on that. Something I want you to think about: what are the daily things, the weekly things that you do that you never regret and are like, ah, Oh my God, that was great. Fill your days with more of those things and you're gonna find that you've got a life full of those things. Alright everyone, would love it if you subscribed, share this with someone if you dig it. I appreciate you watching. Keep shipping, keep making stuff. See you tomorrow. Bye.
