Matt Ragland argues that aspiring creators focus too much on art and ignore the business side. Passion alone won't pay bills. Treating your work as a business, not just a craft, is what keeps you from starving.
I see a lot of my friends want to become creators and they only know the art side of being a creator and they don't know the business side of being a creator.

Exactly. Like, you should chase it, but you can't sustain it if you're not making money from it. Like, there's nothing glamorous about a suffering creator who chased their passion so hard that they can't afford to eat, right? Like, becoming a creator is the business side of it too.
My friend Jeff Goins, one of my favorite books of his is called Real Artists Don't Starve. And I was like, oh, that's such a good title.
