SwitchPod Unboxing! The Best Tripod & Camera Grip for Vlogging

Matt Ragland unboxes the SwitchPod, a tripod and grip designed by Caleb Wojcik and Pat Flynn. Its swing-and-lock mechanism reduces wrist strain compared to the Joby GorillaPod, and positioning is faster and smoother. Ragland was backer #41 of the first 100 units.

It's here, it's here! It's SwitchPod time, everybody! SwitchPod. It is a product I've really been looking forward to from my friends Caleb and Pat. That's Caleb Wojcik and Pat Flynn. Guys, I'm so excited about this. So as someone— ooh! As someone who makes a lot of videos, haha, super excited to see this thing come to life. So let's take a little bit more of a look at it. So I've been using for years now this giant Joby GorillaPod, which has served me really well, but also it is not like— I almost always leave it like this in kind of tripod style, but you can see it's a little— yeah, it just gets a little— you have to really fiddle with it to make it even. Now if I was to like do it Neistat style, then it would be like this, and then trying to get it back is just It's not terrible. It's great for what it was. But now, ooh, I can already tell the packaging is nice. Nice little like— ooh, hear that? Oh, that's nice, that's nice, guys. The packaging is— check. Yeah, very nice. The packaging is just— I mean Look at— well, you can't see it at that angle. So nice. It feels great. Actually, I held one at Craft and Commerce 2 years ago, and just from the beginning, made by creators for creators. It feels great. A nice, a nice powder coating, like it feels really good in the hand. Just the difference in feel between these two and how they— it's incomparable. Yeah, I love that I'm just going to be able to set it down. I gotta practice, gotta practice that swing. Pat and Caleb do the swing really well. It's like, not bad. And then, hi-yah! Set it down. And then, ticka-ta-tow! But, I can get the swing out. The swing— not bad, not bad. Let's try it again. Doc Holliday. I'll work on it, I'll work on it. So let's switch out this camera. It's currently on a tiny Manfrotto that's normally my my camera phone is on, but let's put it on here. Just the— again, the way it feels going from holding this with like an odd grip to holding the SwitchPod with like a good, almost like a pistol grip, it just has a really good feel to it. And the strain, for lack of a better term, on just my, just my wrist and my hand and my grip is going to be so so much less. And then it's quick, easy, right here to bring it in for a, like, you know, just a steady shot. And same thing, I was like, if I had to do it with this, it would be like, all right, let's get this here. No, still not. And is that going to do it? That might have done it, but then Also, just, you know, it just goes over. So, and then you back up. So I'm so excited to have my SwitchPod. Thank you, Pat and Caleb, for sending out the first 100. I was proud to be backer number 41, and I just have so much excitement for the SwitchPod. If you do anything with video and you haven't gotten yours yet, One sec. It is Switchpod.co.
