Matt Ragland got called out by a friend at HiRise for dismissing CRMs in a previous video. He reflects on how throwaway comments land harder than you expect, and warns against self-censoring so much you stop speaking at all. Good day and welcome back to another stand-up vlog. Whoa. Yeah, that, that for— I don't know. Well, it probably sounds like I'm in a bit of a tunnel. There's some great pieces in here. That. That. That. The main thing that I want to talk about today is actually something that I said in last week's vlog talking— Take 2. What I actually want to talk about is something that I mentioned in last week's vlog talking about Konasumo.me and some mistakes that I made. One of the things that I just kind of said in passing was like I didn't know what a CRM was and I still don't care about CRM. So I have a good friend that works at a CRM and a CRM that I actually really like, a CRM that I do and would care about. HiRise. HiRise is awesome. Shifting just inside because it's starting to rain. So my friend watches the vlog and she reached out to me in a very, I thought, in a very kind way and said, "Matt, I know that you're the kind of person who values building relationships. Why would you just say that off the cuff?" And it was off the cuff. I didn't consciously think, "Oh, my friend works here and I'm gonna make her upset." Like, of course I would never do that. It did make me think about, you know, why, why say things like that? Even if like there's nothing bad or intentional, you never really quite know what the intent, what the resonance of your words can be. Because, you know, do I care about high-rise? Do I care about my friend? And thus, would I care about CRMs? Of course, like, all those things are logical. And I said something off the cuff and illogical. That's something that I've been kind of turning around in my head because, you know, those sorts of things matter. And those sorts of things, you know, can make an impact. The balance is that you can't be so caught up in, oh, I hope I don't offend anyone. Oh, I hope I don't say the wrong thing. Oh, I hope I don't screw something up. And then you don't end up saying anything. It's important to think about and understand the resonance that your words have when you put them out. Okay? Let's do a little tour. This is interesting. Okay, here's— this is actually probably my favorite. This one's really good. It's really low. Really low to the ground. I already showed you my friend here. Here and there. Really like this saying here, actually. Here it is in its entirety. It's actually— I put this on my Instagram feed not too long ago, but it is a, it is a great space. Huge, uh, Boba Fett. That's what we got in here. This thing— pardon some of the language— this is going to be Most of the really detailed work is down the other side. Alright everyone, thanks for joining me for another vlog stand-up. We're gonna do another one of these and also gonna be doing some travel vlogging going up to Boise. Alright, take care, have a great week, peace. Nice little reminder right there.
