Mendell Gosnell of Centurion Real Estate Management walks through how to vet a property manager. Check their credentials and experience, ask what's included in their base fee versus what costs extra, and don't pick based on price alone. Find someone who delivers results, not the cheapest option.

Hi, my name is Mendell Gosnell, and I'm the owner of Centurion Real Estate Management. Today I'd like to talk about how to interview a property manager, or some questions that you might ask when you're looking for a professional property management company. Firstly, some things to look for is accreditation or professional designations or what associations the company belongs to. Some questions that you might ask are their experience and their background and training, time in the industry, staffing, and the types of properties they manage. Do they manage similar properties to yours? What resources do they have? What services they— do they offer? What's included in their fee and what services are billed separately? You should do a thorough interview, but don't let cost be your sole determining factor. Ask yourself, "How can someone offer the best service for the lowest price?" One thing that we like to encourage our owners is you shouldn't be so hasty to offer your biggest asset to the lowest cost bidder, but rather to the best. And finally, and most importantly, look for results. Because again, it's not the top line, what someone costs, but the bottom line, what they deliver, that's most important. We hope this helps, and again, if you have more questions, contact us today. Thank you.
