This YouTube video by Mike Andes documents a short trip to Memphis, Tennessee to attend (but not lead) a franchisee meetup for Augusta Lawn Care. Mike emphasizes the value of owner connection as the brand scales and his fear of losing close ties as the company grows. The body of the clip contains hands-on training about Christmas-light installation (materials, techniques, and pricing), practical pricing/examples (cost ≈ $50, charge $100 per tree), and brief franchisee testimonials about revenue (one reported ≈ $20,000 in two weeks) and hiring/compensation strategies.

Hey everybody. I'm actually in Memphis, Tennessee today. Flew in for a very quick couple days here for actually one of our franchisees put an event on and I'm gonna be just hanging out for the day. I'm actually not doing any speaking or anything like that. Rather the franchisees themselves are gonna be just doing a meetup. We have lunch today in like four hours. We're gonna be learning about Christmas lights, how to install them, how to make money on them. Hiring P4P1 of owners out in Mississippi is actually putting on Kevin Fairburn. There's a lot of work into it and so I'm here to support. Not really here to put the event on. It's more a matter of just connecting with the owners. I'm just super thrilled that people like Kevin put time and effort into actually putting these events on and bringing all the owners together. It's the best thing about Augusta Lawn Care in my mind is just having the support group, having people to bounce things off of. And it's been a long spring rush for all of us. And so to connect and learn and grow together is super valuable. I think my biggest fear as we continue to grow and have have a lot more locations is simply staying connected with all the owners. Something I'm very passionate about and I want to make sure I do a better job at so getting a quick run in this morning and then we got lunch and four hours worth of training with all of them and it's basically right back home. So quick trip here in Tennessee. I love the city by the way. It's very clean compared to like Seattle. So I'm enjoying the run and still getting used to the humidity.
Let's go. Coolest table here.
Absolutely.
Very nice. Oh yes.
Cuz this is not useful when you're out installing. So I always just say to throw it all out. And then you're going to start with the plug side and you put that in your hand and you start wrapping it up. And what you're going to want to do is make a wall out of it all in. Your cost is probably around, I don't know, 50 bucks. And then we do these for $100 a tree. So you're making dol put the mistake in the ground. You're going to be putting satcon screws into the expansion joints of brick homes. You're screwing in the Harding Point or let alone if you got guys you trust to screw into a stuff build house.
I guess mindset issues just that handicapped me all year. And then even after he taught Me, this, I just still had a lot of, a lot of doubt if this would work for me. This would work in my market. But yeah, just follow this blueprint. This might not seem like a lot to some of you guys. I know some of you do a lot of revenue, but. But for me, in my first year, 20,000. A little, little over 20,000 in two weeks with me and one other guy. It was, it was a lot. And it just, it made all the difference for.
18 scoops of ice cream.
Let's go.
Ah, look at that. Let's go.
What's better? What can you do in your ads than bet gas is terrible right now. I give a hundred doll gift card for perfect attendance for the entire month. If it comes through and I'll hear my earbuds, I will stop off. Somebody applied. Boom. Because they're mass applying.
I don't tell y' all or sell it to you, but the ones that haven't transferred over yet. It is the thing that made my business successful. Have your base pay be more competitive than all your competitors by like $2 if you can. Is that that's what attracts them first. The company from bb out on the truck and just wanting to work as much to get to the level where I'm at now. I knew what it took and I thought that it took, you know, 60 plus hour in the field work weeks 1.5 or higher multiple of your base pay.
So just like that, you can tap into, do whatever you want. If you're dropping from a roof to a fence or something like that, all you do is we call it putting an inline. The guys will say, hey, throw me an inline, I need an inline. But all you need to know is being able to put a plug in the middle of your line anywhere on a house makes it extremely customizable.
