How the Client Portal and Credit Card Payments Work in Copilot CRM

Mike Andes shows how Copilot CRM's client portal lets customers pay by credit card or ACH without logging in. Stripe handles payments at 0.8% with a $5 cap for ACH. The platform can lock cards on file for autopay and plans to add buy-now-pay-later in 2024.

Hey, everyone, it's Mike Andes, founder and CEO of Copilot CRM. And today I'm talking to you about the client portal and the ability for your customers to be able to pay from the client portal very easily. Now, this is what's funny. As much as I love the client portal, I actually don't want your customers to ever have to see it because I want you to be able to have their payment information on file and charge them a to be the most seamless thing they've ever seen. And this is why we've added a few really our client portal this. They are not required to set up a login or password. They have the ability inside their estimate. They already open up their client portal and can see all their payment information. It's all secure. Now we use Stripe payments to be able to get all the credit card information and ach. This is what's crazy. ACH is basically bank transfers. And if you're doing big projects, instead of having to go pay 2, 3% on credit card processing fees, or we only charge 0.8% on. On processing ACH with a $5 cap, which means if you have a $50,000 project, if a customer pays with ACH, guess what? Your processing fees are going to be $5, not 0.8% because it stops at 5 bucks. It's a cap. And the reason we do this is because this is what Stripe charges us. And we don't make any extra fees on credit card processing or bank transfers. And we do that because we want our business to be in the business of software, not just taking payments. And I think a lot of times in the CRM world, the big reason a lot of these, these companies don't innovate on their software. Cause they don't really care about the software. They're trying to just get you to pay, do processing payments as fast as possible because they want to make a cut on every single transaction. At Copilot, we're focused on the software and making that more efficient for you and your business. And therefore, we do not take any processing fees from your payments. Both ACH and credit card, it's all done through Stripe. You also have the ability to be able to add PayPal. So a lot of customers that already have PayPal, they don't even add their credit card information because PayPal, they can quickly tap on it and get paid. And it's completely seamless to you in terms of that money coming in. Now, again, the client portal, super simple. They don't have to do a login. And what I really, really like is the fact that we've added the ability to be able to lock people in to autopay. What this means is the fact that you require a credit card on file. The thing that's so annoying is you require it. They put the credit card on file, you start service and then they take the credit card off of the client portal and then you come to build them. It's like, oh, there's no card there. And they will just take it away. Once they've put a credit card on file inside of Copilot, you can make it where they have to add new credit card information in order for their account to stay active. And otherwise they can't. They literally can't take the card off of their client portal. This prevents you from ever having the problem of trying to go bill somebody with thinking they had a car and file, but they actually took it off without you knowing. Also, coming down the road, we're going to be able to have buy now, pay later, where if you have a big project, customers can actually apply for credit, do everything on the back end. You don't even have to see any of it. You get the money like normal. But they're able to do buy now, pay later, and that's coming here in 2024.
