Mike Andes charges $1 per minute per person for initial lawn mows. He explains why that first big bill surprises customers, and another operator defends charging $1.50 per minute per man instead.

All right, slow down. Are you telling me it's a buck and a half a minute? That's your price.
So for the, for the initial MoW, it'll be $1.50 per minute per man.
Per man? How many people are you sending?
I charge a dollar per minute per man on the first mowing service for every new customer. It makes some customers mad. After that first visit, they get this big charge they weren't expecting.
I'm not paying no $300. This is bull.
But ultimately, we told you on the phone when we gave you the price to that first visit was going to be that per minute rate. And that protects us because we're giving you the price over the phone. Based on square footage from a satellite image a year ago, we can't tell if it's three feet overgrown and if it's a foot overgrown on the sidewalk. And we have to edge that.
