Mike Andes slept in an office closet and drove a Honda Civic to save money for his business. He focused on controllable inputs like doors knocked instead of chasing sales numbers he couldn't control.
He lived in the closet of the office.
A Honda Civic.
Three things I did to become more successful were one I lived in the closet of the office so I could afford to invest back into the business. Number two I drove a work truck or a Honda Civic. Still drive the Honda Civic to this day in order to be able to afford investing in the business. Number three is I focused on inputs I could control instead of the outputs that I could not control. In other words, I focused on things like the number of doors I would knock on to be able to sell lawn care instead of the number of customers because the leading indicator the put I could control the number of doors being knocked. I couldn't control the number of customers, but I could control how much work I put in.
