I showed up on the job site (NO WARNING)

This is a vlog-style YouTube video ("I showed up on the job site (NO WARNING)") where Josh from Augusta Lawn Care covertly visits several crews and staff during a workday to see if they are working. He records brief on-site interviews describing tasks (editing video, scheduling, QuickBooks, property cleanups, trimming, cobble removal, estimates). Most crew members are working; one delay occurred because wheelbarrows were missing (ca. 37-minute round trip). Final stop is Mike's studio.

That's a working man right there. Hey everyone, it's Mike. Andy. Sorry I threw the wrong audio in there. My bad. What's up everybody? I am Josh with Augusta Lawn Care. And usually I'm far behind the lens, but today we're doing a little something extra. I used to work in the field at Gus Lawn Care before. Four years and. And it was just me, Mike and Liz for a little while of that. Good times. Now I do the full time media. So we have quite a few crews going out today. I haven't told anyone I'm doing this and I'm just gonna sneak up, gonna play a little game today I'm just gonna roll up on cruise. I'm taking my personal car. We're going stealth mode.
We're gonna roll up on them, we're gonna catch them in the act of whatever they're doing. And we're not stopping at the cruise, we're going to the office. We're trying to catch everybody and don't tell him, but we're gonna end up at the studio and see if we can catch Mike slacking today. Keep your finger shot, that won't happen. And so I'm just gonna roll up on people and let them give a little brief overview of what they're working on and we'll see how that goes today. So the question is, will we find them slacking or packing? Alright. That's the reason I'm usually not behind the lens. So anyways, I'm gonna go head out, meet some of the guys. They don't know I'm coming. The only thing that they do know is that you should smash the like button and subscribe button right now. And it'd be greatly appreciated. So that's the only info we've got for today and we'll see how the rest turns out. Thanks. See you in a bit.
Alright, we're rolling into the Augusta shop. Let's go take some by surpr.
All right. They already spotted me, but they don't know why I'm here. So let's go see if they're busy.
All right. What up? What up?
Are you supposed to get a picture of me? No, just need 30 seconds. What you're doing right now.
Can I speak? Go ahead. Hi, Josh. It's so nice to see you. You too. Wonderful time away. Are you videoing me or taking pictures? I'm videoing. I just need 30 seconds of what you're doing right now. So wonderful. I am editing this video for Nick. I'm gonna post this awesome interview Today. Hope it's a blessing to somebody. Cool.
Can I get 30 seconds of what you're doing right now? 30 seconds right now. I just filtered through a couple emails. Nothing really too exciting. So I was actually just going to look at next week's schedule to make sure I have the jobs kind of lined up and if there's any special product I need to order and just solve a problem on a job where we need to rent a piece of equipment. So just a little bit of everything right now. Fantastic. And Brandon, I am currently itemizing some expenses on our QuickBooks account. I'm trying to find invoices that Carl's mower was supposed to send us for a couple charges that I can't track down. And I've been on the phone with them back and forth for about two days. So hopefully we get it sorted today. All right. So as you can see, we are three for three. Brianna was busy, Lee was busy, and Liz was kind of busy. So we didn't catch anybody slacking yet. This is our first stop of the tour and so now I think we're gonna isotech knickknack. So we'll see you when we hit the next location. All right, so we're pulling up to the next crew now. Let's see. See what they are up to.
What up? I'm not here to pester you, but what kind of am I making a short video today? So I just need 30 seconds. What you're doing right now.
And what you're doing here. Just like 30 seconds. Okay.
Well, he's out of here. So right now we're doing a property cleanup here on Western Lake Whatcom property. We're taking down some tree branches and shaping up all of the bushes and taking up all of the weeds on the property. And in the back we have a bunch of fox head that we need to trim up and square off. And that's pretty much the deal of what we're doing. Fantastic. So another crew down. We just saw Ben and Mitchell. We got them getting ready to trim and so it looks like everyone's working hard today. Yeah, we're just working our way through the different crews and we'll see who we can find next and what they're up to. Stay tuned. Alright, so we just found Nick and Caleb after getting lost for like 20 minutes. And so we're gonna see what they're up to today. Let's hope we keep this hot streak going.
I need 30 seconds of what you're doing and what you're up to. Right now. Right now. Right now. Okay. Hot take. All right, so we just showed up to the client's house. We have to dig out all of the material in the bottom of these ditches, and it's all three yards of cobbles. So, yeah, just getting all the tools out and getting ready to go. There you go. We see it. No one today. So far, we've caught them being lazy, so that's a huge plus. No one knows I'm coming today, and everyone's working hard. So we out here. Tell me. Tell me what you just told me.
So I pulled up here earlier, and like 20 minutes ago, I thought I was lost, but I wasn't lost. I was here, but the crew wasn't here. Why weren't you here, Nick? I don't know what you're talking about.
So it turns out when you're working with jobs like this that wheelbarrows are important, and there were none, so they had to go get some. So I wasn't lost this score. Guard. What I said earlier, they just weren't here yet because they forgot wheelbarrows.
What up?
Nice. All right. What do you got put in here? Landscape fabric and some cobbles. Okay. Nice. Any trouble this morning? Got the wheelbarrows. Oh, boy. How far do you have to drive out the shop? 37 minutes, I think. Oh, 37 minutes. So with two people, that's what? How many man hours is that?
30 minutes each way. So an hour per person. So two full man hours, roughly, for two wheelbarrows.
It's tough stuff, man. That's tough stuff. All right, I'm gonna leave you be. All right, so this is crazy.
Marcus is our estimator, and.
And I'm undercover here in my car, and I'm rolling up on him. I didn't even know. I was driving by this parking lot and I saw the big yellow truck, and let's just see here. He hasn't spotted me yet. So let's see here and see if he's busy or not.
I kid you not. This is not staged. I'm just.
Oh, man. I was just driving by the parking lot on my way to our next to. To go see Austin, and I look and I saw Marcus at the parking lot. He doesn't recognize my car.
How's it going? Maybe. Maybe. Caught you hardly working.
I was just wondering where your mask was.
So we're actually. I actually wasn't planning to see you today, and. Okay. I was rolling around. Look, just going to the different crews and seeing what they were up To. Yeah. And we didn't. Does this look like a landscape site or. No, we had a nice little street going. Of. Of all the crews I rolled up on by surprise were working and just pulled up into the parking lot here outside Menchies and Little Caesars. See you sitting in the truck here. Are you. Are you doing an estimate for Port of subs or what? I'm doing some maintenance. Are you doing an estimate for Port of Subs? I can't actually disclose that information. Okay. But I'd love to. Okay. So. But. But. But. Ashley, what. What's going on here? What's going on? Yeah. What are you up to today? Oh, heading to Ferndale. Got some estimates going. Okay. Two of them, and then one's way far in. Blaine's a timed one, so I gotta be there. I'm just stopping for a nice little bathroom break. Oh, okay. At Whole Foods has the best bathrooms, right? Whole Foods is way, way over there. Yeah, like across the parking lot. I just noticed you were in front of the front of Menchis. I don't want to hit anybody with it. Oh, that's right. That's right. Okay. All right. I guess we'll let the viewer decide if that's. If that's valid. Yeah, I was actually gonna pull out my camera. I was getting my camera ready. I was gonna. I was gonna video, and I was gonna call you before you noticed me to see. See if you're telling the truth or not. So. So I was thinking we could just tear out all this concrete and just do a nice layer of medium brown mulch over.
Is that. Is that for your estimate? Yeah. Okay, so how long have you been doing estimates now?
Two months, Maybe a little more. A little less. Okay. But you kind of took over that position from Lee.
Yeah. Okay. So to speak. Is this a shot on iPhone video? This is a shot on iPhone video. For now, I'm just trying to be real self. I was driving by and then I just saw you. Did you? I figured I could catch you. Lacking.
Sure enough, it looked. It looked kind of like you were heading into Seattle town. Yeah. Honestly. Okay. I have a whole list of things I could do that's more important than talking to you right now.
I don't. I don't think anything on that list is getting done sitting here in the parking lot of super cuts. Okay. So. All right. I really gotta pee. All right. See ya. All right, we're just pulling up, and let's see if we can sneak up here on Austin, see what he's up to.
That's a working man right there. Let's go. What up?
Oh, my God.
Didn't mean to frighten you. I pulled up at the perfect time. Just saw your head under there. Oh, man. In there. Just going to town. I was ready to. About to take these and just go.
What you up to, guy? I'm just doing a small cleanup. Okay. Nothing too big. All right. Literally just round the corner and then around here and then and done after that, real small cleanup. That shouldn't take too long. All right. On beating budgeted hours. Yes, sir. That's what's up. Good stuff. Good stuff, dude. We've just been pulling up on random crews today and see who's working, see who's not. I just caught Marcus over at the whole foods parking lot sitting in the truck. He just. He just broke the streak, but, you know, he made up for it here. Hiding under the bush, so.
Not usually what I was at before. And I'm hiding in the bush on the phone getting hit by Brad. A couple years back, we would have seen Austin under that bush, but he would have been on his phone the whole time. Now with the cliff race in his head, he's out here putting on a clinic. That's what you like to see when you pull up at a job and they don't even know I'm coming. And he's there just getting it done. That's what makes me proud to be a part of augustination. All right, guys, Have a good one. Yes, sir. Thank you. Later, guys. All right, so we're here at our last stop of the day. It is at Mike's studio, and his car is outside here, as you can see. And so we're gonna go see if he's busy or if he's just hanging out. He doesn't know we're coming. Let's prize him.
Mike, what's up? What's up? Surprise, surprise. Last tour stop of the day. Just finished recording a video that you'll see probably later today. Brian Conner from over in Augusta, Georgia, joined the franchise, and this morning, he had a really cool team meeting with his team, kind of expressing his desire for the culture to change. So I was actually just waiting for Josh to show up, but he didn't tell me he was coming. All right, well, we'll see if we take his word for it again. We'll let the viewers decide if he's actually at work or not. He's in his socks, so it's hard to tell if he's been working, but we'll take his word for it. Thanks for coming along with us today and coming for the ride. And it's pretty cool to see how the company has kind of ran itself. Everyone's in their place with the systems and everything, so I hope you enjoyed that. Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed that or if you never want to see my face in front of this camera ever again. And have a good rest of your day.
