Mike Andes explains why his lawn-care company fires customers who don't pick up dog waste before service. Dew and weed whackers spread feces on his crew, so he either charges a big upcharge or drops them. Finding good team members is harder than finding customers.
Look, you got to pick up your dog poop all over your yard if we're gonna come mow the grass the first job of the day, there's dew on the ground, Everything's wet. They hit that with a weed whacker, it's all over them the rest of the day. So either a, I'm gonna upcharge you massively, and we're gonna pick it up for you, or two, I'm gonna give you a warning or two and then just have to let you go because it's harder for me to find a good team member than finding one more customer.
