Mike Minutes Mastermind 03/13/2023

Mike Andes announces a partnership with a Google Ads agency to create "done-for-you" Google ads for franchisees (these templates will remain free). The agency will also offer optional paid account management: a reduced setup fee (~$250 instead of $1,000), monthly management around $500 per location (drops to $400 for multiple locations), plus a 15% fee on ad spend; no long-term contract and Mike will trial management on four of his locations before rolling out. He recommends franchisees with smaller monthly ad budgets (roughly under ~$700–$1,000) use the free templates rather than paid management. The rest of the session moves into Q&A on sharing P&Ls, handling pay-in-full customer credits in CRM software, marketing ROI timing, and routing/job error codes.

Oh, Gustan nation. Happy Monday. Let's go and get started and refresh a couple things here. Bring in the link to Facebook.
All right, couple quick announcements.
Save.
Right Facebook.
I mentioned about a potential fix coming for the Google Ads. So what that is.
All right, so what we're going to be doing is partnering up with a Google Ads agency that basically does this for clients all the time. Now this is the deal.
Because I don't usually like marketing agencies, my agreement with them is that a couple things. Number one, that they would actually show us exactly how to do their ads for free in the done for you ad section. And then by doing this, they would allow themselves to be a preferred vendor and would get a discount for franchisees if you wanted them to manage your account. All right, so what this is going to do is twofold. Number one is give us way better done for you ads because I don't spend 12, 14 hours a day looking at Google that I maybe spend 30 minutes to 60 minutes a day trying to stay up to date on what's relevant. An agency, this is their job. They do this all day long. And so they will make the done for you ads for us.
And you can just do them for free or if you want to just have them manage it, they can do it completely for you. Pricing is better. Being part of Augusta. They don't have the typical cost of initial setup because obviously they can copy and paste a lot better. So that will be the they will try to sell is the management of your accounts and constantly changing. But how they actually set up the ads. They're going to create the done for you ads for Google going forward. So hopefully by end of this week the done for you ads will be done and ready to go and you'll be able we'll have a bunch of information about if you want them to manage your account, what that will cost. It's going to cost you between 4 and $500 per basically if you wanted them to manage your account and then a 15% cut of whatever you're spending on marketing would go to them as well. So lots of details on that are coming down the road in terms of what it includes and how it gets set up and whole nine yards. The reason we're waiting one more week is because they are going to do this. I'm going to run a trial of their management side of things like actually paid on four of my locations. So that way you all can see exactly what the math is and I can show you exactly what happens when you pay for the management side, but the ad side, like creating your own, will now be done by some, by someone that is doing this every single day, all the time. What's, what's happening is I feel like at least half of these Google submissions like this being pending for a long time is I'm not staying up to date with all the little things that are changing in Google every single day. And that's just not what we are the best at is staying up to date with Google's changing. And I'm usually like a month or two behind and by then people's ads have been paused or whatever. And so I'd say like 30, 25, 30% of people's ads are getting hung up and then they're just recreating them and they work again. So like a lot of it is just Google's algorithms have been really weird on all their platforms the past few months. But to prevent that, you could either just copy their ads the done for you ads that they will create for us, or if you want them to manage the account completely and you don't have to deal with it at all, they'll do that for a fee. So a bunch more information coming out in that. I made sure that the pricing was exclusive to us in terms of instead of their thousand dollar setup, I think it's 250 and then the $500 per month is a discount as well as if you have multiple locations, it goes down to $400 per location. So some of our franchisees have already used this company. I've talked with them and vetted them, but I won't actually use them at my four locations. So I can show you exactly what the paid version of their service looks like and what's nice. There's no contract, it's month to month, et cetera. And I'm not going to use them at my locations that are in profit mode because we're not spending money on marketing. So I'm not definitely not spending money on management. And I will definitely have a threshold and a recommendation for everyone to use them based upon how much you're spending on ads. Because if you're only spending your ad budget, your marketing budget is a thousand bucks or let's call it $700. Well if 500, that's going out the door to, to management, it's not worth it. Okay, so I'll give you exactly what that number is and what I feel like the the threshold is for when it starts to become worth it to have the extra 10, 15, 20, 30% optimization that they're going to bring because they tweak the ads constantly. They're always changing things around. They have like usually 30 or 40 different campaigns for every ad set. 30 or 40 ad sets for every single campaign. They're constantly moving things around, et cetera. So a bunch of more information coming down the road in terms of reinstatement that is something that you as the owner really only can do. So you're going to have to be the squeaky wheel at Google. You're going to have to make sure you submit a lot of detailed information. Definitely book a call with a coach if you have not gone through the reinstatement process before. That is if it's an address based thing, you're going to be submitting utility bills, legal documents, et cetera, showing your address. And if it's an ads account that's being banned.
They might be able to help with that. But it's just going to be a matter of you just got to talk to the right people at Google. It's not like you did anything wrong. Right. It's not like you did anything malicious or bad. It's an algorithm that's cutting you out. So you've just eventually got to get a hold of someone and help get help. These marketing agencies typically do have someone directly at Google that they can work with. We used to, but since COVID they kind of just dropped everybody once they cut everyone from the office. So.
Yeah, so more information will come at the end of this week where you could actually get onboarded with them. But for now just know that I'm going to be testing at my locations and that the done for you ads will get updated probably within the next week or two. And those will be completely free per usual. You won't have to pay for those and you can do them yourself. And I would probably recommend if your budget's under a thousand or so per month, that you probably just do that, use the done for you ads and realize it's not going to be optimized. The extra 5, 10, 15% and you just create the ads. But if you want the management side of things, that will be available within a week or two. All right, so that's going to be coming down the pipe. Let's jump into questions.
All right.
Boom. All right, Kyle Tarvin, I think it would be very helpful seeing the P L of one or two of your new locations as they grow and scale. Can you do this? Yeah, I'll probably do it like mid year and then at the end of the year. Something like that.
Yeah. I just gotta be careful guys because I do have general managers, right. So I don't want to make it as a public thing where they're like competing against the other or I'm making them look bad. That's the last thing. So I have to be a little bit careful. As much as I want to share all information, you got to realize like behind it all these P Ls is a general manager that is an employee of mine, right? So it'd be like you guys sharing your.
Your P4P with all of your team and going over it with your whole team and then having strangers walk in the door and sharing the numbers with them too. So just be, just be aware. Like I have to be somewhat careful on this stuff. All right. The last thing I want to do is lose a GM because I say something on a P L and I. And I don't even. I'm not mean meaning if you say anything bad, but they take it wrong. Right. So just, just know that. But I will share as much I can. Ken from Benton, Michigan. During my coaching call, I told Chuck that I had a high acceptance rates by offering the customer 5% off credit card cross processing fee if they pay by one time check for the whole season. He asked how I was going to use that method with Command center. So my question is, how would I do this with command Center?
You would want to make sure if you're in super, this would be your customer intelligence. If you're inside of service autopilot, this would be your office notes that in all bold that you say that they've paid for the entire season. What you could also do if you wanted to, you could also do this. And this is why I would recommend doing to keep track of everything is apply a credit to their account for whatever they paid for the whole year and then still continue to invoice them and just tell them, hey, you're going to get invoiced. It's just going to say paid at the end of every single one. And then it's going to keep track of the credit inside their account, what you don't want to do. And you will. It makes most sense to do this when you have like 30 or 40 customers. But when you get above that, it's going to become a mess. And that is okay. Well, they pay me 2 grams this year. Great. I'm going to mow them for the whole year. No, you need to keep track of all the jobs. You need to have invoices for every month and you need to take that off the credit each month. So make sure you're organized. That's the biggest thing that I see people making mistakes when they do like pay pay in full for the whole year is. And then like their visits go out the door, their invoicing goes out the door, and all of a sudden they have no record of anything that actually happened on the job.
Landon from Tallahassee. Two things. The last two days I had someone stop me on a job and say, I thought you were Mike Andes. Lol. About how about how long does it take for me to see the benefit of my marketing dollars? For example, if I spend $500 at a $50 customer acquisition cost, theoretically should it take.
Should it take for me how long theoretically should it take for me to get 10 customers? Just start started marking about a week ago, but feels like I haven't seen much benefit yet. Yeah. So couple things. Number one, keep in mind that you're probably early to the spring rush. So your customer cost being $50 is probably actually not true. It's probably more in the realm of being, you know, 100 plus, if not more if you're early to the spring rush. And then secondly is.
When it comes to direct marketing, you know, pretty quickly, like if you send out every door, direct mail, if you send out door hangers, if you do Facebook or Google Ads, you almost know within, you know, a day or two max. Obviously there's residual benefit of showing things like YouTube videos or Facebook ads because people call you later on down the road and it's a little bit harder to attribute some of those as customers from that spend. However, the vast majority of direct marketing is going to come fairly in short order after the actual ad being placed. Brandon Morin asked when adding jobs to a route in a couple I have an error code that shows up see attachment. Not sure if I'm clicking a specific setting when setting up the job.
All right, let's see here. What's the question again? A couple error code that you see attachment. I'm not sure if I'm clicking a specific setting when setting up a job.
I would have geo coordinates not found for that. Okay. So you should be able to go to the customer's property specifically and select geocordinates. What happens in Zooper if they don't have like if you, if your address is wrong or it's. There's no a map. There's nowhere on the map that you actually see a point, then it just like kind of bugs out essentially. Here, one second. Yeah. So I would go through each of these properties, and I'd basically just make sure that they all have an actual pin on the map with geo coordinates. And sometimes it's like new construction, things like that. What happens in service all pies. This one just gets randomly scrambled into the mix. And so this one basically, unfortunately, just doesn't do anything. And that is, you're going to have to go in there and select geocoordinates. And you can do that from just you look up, find geocordinates for an address on Google. You'll put in the address, it'll give you the geocoordinates, and then you can put that into zooper. So at least there is coordinates on a map. So cool. Hope that made sense. All right, I got to go check in this wiring thing we're doing. Okay. Take care, guys. See ya.
