Mike Minutes Mastermind 07/18/2023

Mike Andes hosts a live Mastermind (07/18/2023) with announcements, a Q&A segment, and a closing"education/musings" section. Announcements promote an evening roundtable (5:00pm PT / 8:00pm ET) and logistics. Q&A covers: 3F employee eligibility (temporary seasonal layoffs do not reset the two-year requirement), pricing strategy for a landlord offering 18 widely separated small properties (recommendation: stick to per-property minimums and avoid heavy discounts), how the platform computes budget-hour capacity (based on active employees' daily/weekly budget-hour settings), and discerning true vs false sales objections (look for timing and conviction; use reservation closes). The education/musings segment discusses personal routine experiments (protein drink on waking, flexible sleep patterns) and Mike's exploratory research into offshore accounts, multiple citizenships/passports, and tax/asset-protection strategies driven by prior pandemic-related business restrictions.

Hello, Guess the Nation. Hope you're all doing super well and go ahead and get things kicked off here in Facebook. In just two and a half hours from the time I'm starting this, we are going to have our roundtable.
But I didn't want to miss today's Mastermind and I do have a full slate. We have some announcements, we have some education and we have some questions. So let's go and get started. I will do education last.
First quick announcement.
And that is as stated prior, the roundtable is this evening. Make sure you're on it. 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time, 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time. I'll be going through more of the future stuff, what we're working on with the tech side of things and software. And then we'll be announcing the Franchise Advisor Council for the upcoming year.
And there'll be a space for questions if you have any in terms of zoom. So in the Facebook group there is a link. I will send another link for invitation right before the event starts this evening. 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time, 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time. All right, that's the announcements. Let's jump into questions and I'll talk about edumacation at the end.
Present Share Screen.
Mastermind all right.
I have an employee who's been working two months. Oh, this for Frankie North.
Rally. I have. I have an employee who's been working for two months and is super interested in taking advantage of the 3F program. Does he have to consistently be working full time for two years or does it matter? If I end up laying him off this winter and rehire him again in the spring, would the two years restart? No. If it was just like a couple months where you're laying off the winter, we'd still honor the two years. As long as he's working full time.
For, you know, at least eight, nine months out of the year, it's okay. If he's just getting laid off for the slow season, that's okay.
Number two, Connor from Evansville. Pictures attached. I thought it would be a good question for everyone and some newer members. I have a landlord who reached out to us about quoting 18 properties. They're all in the same neighborhood area and I'm all about within. Within about five to six blocks of each other. They would all require push milling because they're so small. Average around 1200 square feet of grass across all 18 properties. Our minimum is $35 for 3000 square feet or less. Would you price everything at our minimum price or is there any discount? Gets all. It's all properties under one vendor. What is your train of thought on this? All right, so I'm just going to show these real quick. I should be able to show them to everybody. So there's the addresses. Got some multi unit and some single member attached it sounds like. Okay, they're relatively close like you said, they're all right. Share this tab as well. Okay. So they're all, they're all separated though. And when they're single family houses, these people in the homes, the renters, I can guarantee you are going to feel like they are entitled to be the person that is telling you what to do as much as the landlord says otherwise. Single, single unit homes are going to be that way because you're going to have backyard fences, you're going to have pets, you're going to have to treat them like separate customers. I personally would not discount them a lot. Maybe you do 30 as your minimum for these prices. But I would recommend sticking to your guns because each of these tenants are going to think that they can tell you what to do and they will also need notifications like a normal house because they're a lot of these are single family houses and I'd just be honest with the customer too and be like hey, this is our minimum price per unit per property and that would be like a really easy sell. And then, then you say hey, just, just you know, 35 our minimum price per property. And that seems like a really good cheap deal for them. And then you could extrapolate out like a more of a. If they were looking for like a 12 month recurring type thing. But I would discount it a lot. It's not going to save you a whole lot more time compared to a regular visit because they're not all together. And every one of these tenants is going to feel entitled to tell you what to do. So Hudsonville in Coplat how is budget hour capacity figured based on employee availability or figured 30 budget hours automatically. All right, let's look at here. Share this tab. Yep. So it is looking at your users and in at your user level. I can show you real quick. If I jump into here and I go to.
My team and I go to my employees in my employees area is where once I open this up right here my daily. Share this tab. Sorry. The daily budget hour capacity underneath your employees employees part on in someone's employee profile their budget hour capacity for a day and then their weekly. So we're using weekly. The reason we have hours here is because we want everyone to put that number in so that down the Road. This would be used for automated scheduling next year, but for now, it's really just using this number right here.
All right.
Sorry. I have all these tabs now from all these pictures. Give me a second here. Share screen.
All right. Yeah, it's so. Yeah, it's based upon the budget hours that you put on the employees, and the employees that are active are the ones that are going to be counted towards that capacity.
Max Harwood from Burnaby. How do you know if a person. If a client's objection to a sale is true or false? In the sales training video you posted from Ryan Pineda, there's a speaker that talks about true and false objections. He says that true objections need to be confronted and dealt with, while false objections need to be ignored. How do you discern if someone's objection is true or false? It really depends. I would say mostly on their conviction, as well as if it's something like if they happen to bring it up late in the sales process, for example, if right at the very beginning, that someone's like, hey, I'm here because my. My wife was not available to do the quote, and so I'm here to talk to you, and then I got to go talk to her and give her the information. That'd be different than you do the entire quote. They're asking questions. They're very involved. They're asking very detailed how things are going to work. And then at the end, they're like, okay, well, I got to talk to my spouse. Well, then you know that that's just a false objection, because it wasn't brought up from the beginning, and it wasn't a recurring theme from the beginning of the sales process, and it was only brought up when closing came around. So the first thing I'm looking at is like, how. How long? Like, when was that brought up before? And if it was brought up before, that gives me a little more validity to that objection versus if it's just brought up at. Like, if it's just brought up right at the close, it's almost always a false objection. Right. And a lot of times they don't make sense. For example, it's like, well, I need to compare prices. It's like.
That is a. That is a valid and true objection, but based only upon the belief that they feel they need to have multiple pricing to compare to. And that's when you say, like, look, Mr. Jones, has anyone else followed up with you? Has anyone else contacted you back? I'm here. I follow. I'm following up with you right now. I can get this on the schedule. And I think the same level of care that I've had towards making sure you've understood your quote, is the same level of care you can expect when we come and service your property. And no one else has demonstrated that. And so if you're going to compare prices, you're gonna have to kick into account the fact that the value I bring and the care that I bring is substantially higher than all the other competitors. So that level of conviction takes a lot to say, but people will, when you call them out on their bluff, they'll be like, okay, yeah, you're right. Let's go ahead and get, get it on the schedule. Right. And again, the very, very worst scenario is that you use the reservation close. And that is, you know, they say they need to talk to their spouse and they get other bids. No worries. I'm. I know this is important to you. Get on a schedule. I also value your time. I'm going to go ahead and reserve this spot for you next Thursday. And we'll go ahead and put this on the calendar. And if you get another bid or you talk to yourself and something changes, let me know. But then try to get them on the schedule, committed, deposit whatever is required, and then they only respond back to you if they have an objection to that in terms of like a better price, for example, or they talk to their spouse and they change their mind. The bottom line is once you have them on the schedule, it's like, okay, that's off their to do list. They're not going to go get more quotes they're not even going to talk about with their spouse unless it is a true objection. But even still, if it's a true objection, I can still use that close to have them on the schedule. And then if they don't contact me, I'm rolling. So. All right. Education. All right, I have this thing now I'm going to have in my notes where if I think of things to share, I will. Okay, so education now has become personal. Sharing. Okay? It's not just education. It's just musings, musings and education.
Oh, that's funny. Musings. M. Education. E. So this is the me section. Very, very egotistical. All right, first thing is I'm trying out this thing. I don't like having like one rhythm a lot because then I become a dependent on it. So like I don't have like a sleeping pattern or wake up pattern or anything like that because then you get dependent on it and then you can't be adaptable. Like if you are needing to stay up longer or you need to wake up, a weird time, stuff like that. However, for like six or eight months, I probably did intermittent fasting. So now I'm switching it up. I'm not doing that, but I am trying to do is have a protein drink within like 10 minutes of waking up.
And seeing how that does like to keep me filled throughout the whole day. So like I'm trying to do like protein drink in the morning within 10 minutes of waking up. Something small snack on in the around lunch and then I have a pretty good sized dinner. I've always tried to like restrict dinners and it just never worked well for me. I really enjoy eating dinner. I like going like finishing my day feeling pretty full. And I know it's not the best for sleep. You should flip that around technically. But I've always tried to go against it and I've always like, I just enjoy dinner. So that just is what it is. So that's what I'm doing. Another thing is that I've been looking into a whole bunch. I've been looking at this for probably 6 to 12 months, but it is something I am actively actually doing or like starting to take steps towards doing. And some people think it's bad, that's fine. And that's looking at offshore accounts and getting different citizenships. So I know like for some people, if you've been raised in the U.S. it's like blasphemy to say you're gonna get different citizenships in the U.S. but my thought process in this changed when during COVID I was threatened to go to jail, was starting with $25,000 fine and I was forced to close down my business for four months. When someone else has that much power over you and you are an independent thinker, you're gonna look for alternatives. And so that not to say I would ever move or that I would ever, you know, anything like that, but I want to have control. And if I ever had a family or the people that I love, I would want to make sure that I could get them to a better place and have options. And with, in my opinion, freedom is options. And so I am actively looking for multiple citizenships and passports. I'm also looking then to, to parlay that into using it for taxes. And again, I'm a huge proponent of paying taxes. You talked to me three years ago, four years ago. I would say it's one of the most patriotic things I can do. I would still stand by that somewhat However.
I have to look at how those taxes are being used and that the government, I'm paying them to use them actively against me three years ago to basically try to shut down my business. And I don't appreciate that. And so these politicians have a lot of power. They have too much in my opinion. And, and I think what they're going to be, they're going to be outsmarted by entrepreneurs. And so people always complain about people that are not paying a lot of taxes and they're making a whole bunch of money. The bottom line is these politicians have all this power so they create rules that everyone has to listen to. And what they forget is that there are people that are fast adopt, they will adapt to any situation, they'll figure things out and they have enough legal support to figure out how to get around these stupid rules. And so, you know, for example, there are plenty of countries in Eastern Europe, in Latin America that it's very easy to get citizenship to. You can then use them as tax havens. You can also use them as ways to protect a lot of IP and a lot of secure stuff. So for example, people like bag on people like Bezos that are on his boat all the time, I guarantee you saves more by being on that boat because then he can be able to say that he's not on in, in the US for a certain amount of time. And he is using that as a way to be able to save taxes. I can guarantee it. Because a lot of those countries in the Eastern Europe, for example, Italy has a hundred thousand dollar cap on its income tax. So once you pay $100,000 to the government, after that it's all free. So if you're making $10 million take home, you're paying a 1% tax or less than 1% tax. So that's very interesting when the alternative is to stay in the US pay 45, 50% to the government. And so for myself, even though the businesses when they're growing, you have to increase your working capital. So if a business grows say $2 million in revenue, you're having to probably put aside an additional 7, 800,000 just for working capital because the amount of payroll goes up and rent expenses and all the rest of it. And you can't go low in terms of how much your cash reserves are because you fluctuate by hundreds of thousands every single month. You can't go low. So you have to increase working capital. However that is looked at as profit by the IRS. And so if I want to put $700,000 aside, I'm not actually going to make in profit 1.2. And that's not going to be. I'm not taking a single penny out. I'm just increasing my working capital limits. So, yeah, it's just something I've really, really started to dig into and learning a lot about. I haven't taken any action on stuff yet. I know from a options and security standpoint, I will 100% be looking into this. And then from a tax perspective, I'll be looking at it. There's a lot of legal costs and there is a lot of red tape around this. And if you are a citizen of the US you are going to get taxed wherever you live in, in the world. But there's, there's ways around this stuff. So, yeah, like I am not against government at all or anything like that. But again, when they threaten me to go to jail and threaten to bring the police and shut down the gym.
I'm just gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna figure a way around it. And so it's been in my head for three years. I'm starting to take some action on it. I'll keep you guys updated. In terms of what I'm doing, in terms of different countries, I've looked at about 15 or 20. I'm doing my own research and then getting consulting outside of that. So we'll see how it goes. All right, that's all I got for today. There's your education. We'll see you guys tonight. Two hours from now, we'll be starting the roundtable. Make sure you hop on Zoom. I will send out the reminder on Facebook for, for the link, but it should also be in all of your emails. Just look for Q Q2 Roundtable in your inbox and you should be able to find it. All right, guys, we'll see you tomorrow. Well, actually, no, we'll see you in two hours and then we'll see you again tomorrow. For the Mastermind. We'll see ya.
