Mike Minutes Mastermind 11/10/2023

Mike Andes hosts a mastermind-style YouTube session (Mike Minutes Mastermind, 11/10/2023) answering audience questions and giving updates. Key points: the company is rolling out an instant web pricing form with a target completion around December 1 (work delayed due to upsell development and high sign-up volume); Command Center (Max) will adjust scripted prompts to avoid offering services some clients don’t provide (fertilization) and generally will assume weekly service from door-hanger responses unless circled; typical Command Center fees as % of revenue vary widely—Mike suggests ~4–10% (higher when aggressively growing or with additional office costs); insurance choices should match risk tolerance and business survivability concerns; and Mike critiques blanket productivity advice and defends individual/contextual approaches to time/value.

All right, let's get this party started.
Happy Friday, everybody. I hope you're doing amazing. Let's get this Facebook link.
Boom.
All right, we'll jump right into questions. Actually, no, I think I had something. One second. I think I had an announcement of some sort. Oh, yes. In relation to a follow up on Vlad's question from yesterday. Checked in with the web team. We still have a couple more weeks to get everyone finished on the instant form. Instant web pricing form. So many people applied. We are not. We are not. I thought we were gonna get done this week. We are not. So at least a couple more weeks are. We're shooting for December 1st. However, as we roll into the December 1st ones, we are going. We are kind of starting to work on the upsell side of things. So we kind of been working on that a lot, which slowed us on initially rolling them out. So that should be we. That should be available in December and that is the ability to do the upsells once someone checks out for the pricing for mowing. So. But yes, December 1st, everyone will be done. We'll have everyone's instant price that has signed up. We just anticipate everyone to basically do it. So we will get through everyone, though, by December 1st. So I apologize if you're still in queue for that, but we really do have to redesign each site backend so that the site still is light and fast. And this is why we're not doing this for any of the longer web design or home service web design clients, because this is a ton of work. So I apologize for saying that it was going to be this week. I thought we were faster, but he said that there are so many that in the past couple weeks have signed up that it's going to take us to the end of the month. I was talking with Tori last night about it, so update on that. And I apologize for giving a false hope that it was gonna be done this week. I only thought there was like 30 or 40. There's almost everybody signed up, so that is that brand. Boom. Questions share.
Five questions for Friday. Five question Friday.
Kevin Bloomingdale. When people are on the phone with Max after he gets all their info and sets them up for a quote, he asked if they are interested in anything else. He mentions fertilization, which I don't offer. Is there a way for him to not mention that on my account? I'm assuming it needs to be across the board, but I don't want to offer something to people only to disappoint them.
Okay, yeah, he's saying that because he's trying to get them to think. Oh, sorry. He's trying to get them to think about other services they need. Liz, I know you're listening to this. If you could send this a message to the dev team. I think it's safe to say all of us do bush trimming and property cleanups. So let's use that as a way to try to trigger the customer other services they might need and just ask. That's all we're doing. We're saying, would you like fertilization, fertilizer, any fertilization, or any of the services you might need. But it's a good point because a lot of us don't do fertilization or we do different types of. Like we don't do spraying, for example. So that's a good point. I like it. We will have that change within a week or two. We just got to do the voice part for Max and then we can knock it all out. So, Liz, if you're listening to this, please just send a message to Amanda, Sean and the team and just ask if that change can be made. That'd be excellent. Thank you.
Kevin from Blue Nail, he's on a roll today. What percentage of revenue would you say that growth models pay on average for cc? I really see it kind of all over the place. And so I can give a number, a percentage and say, you know, 8% or whatever, but I have seen that number be as low as 4% and they're on full service. I've seen as high as 10% and they aren't growing at all. It really does come down to whether or not you're following the systems. So, like, I know Kevin Cohen had mentioned they did over a hundred thousand in revenue and he had $4,000 to command center and they basically did everything besides his payroll. I think it was.
That's really good. And he's. He was growing quite a bit last year, so that's pretty good. I've also seen companies that do a hundred thousand spend 8,000 or 9,000 per month. So it really just depends on your ability to stay with the systems and realize that by making their job easier, you save money. And so sometimes I've seen locations, you know, hey, we're just going to cut the service out because, like, it is too complex for Command center to be able to handle. And it's only our market knows this certain type of bug or whatever it is, and this will just cut it out in the hopes of like making things smoother at Command Center. And ultimately, if it's not a big chunk of your revenue, I'd recommend doing that. Just like simplification, but in terms of giving you a percentage, I would probably say 4 to 10%. 10% being like, you are growing very quickly, you're expanding fast. You're like really in growth mode. Like, you're advertising a lot, Lots of leads are pouring in. And so.
In that scorecard I think I gave it at conference, I said like 8 to 12%. And so, but that's. If you like, you had your own office and you had like an office person, you'd be looking at more like 10 to 15%. Typically by the time you pay for the office and stuff, and then like the extra rent and then the wages. So hopefully you're more like 4 to 8%, maybe 10%. If you're really in growth mode would be my expectation. Assuming you are full service. Again, there's so many variables. Like, are you doing. Are they doing everything for you? Like, that's what my locations do. Um, but if it starts getting above 10% and you aren't growing, there's a really good chance that there's certain systems you're not following that's causing a lot of double pickup and like, people having to re go back and do things, et cetera. So I would just keep that in mind. And it's one of those things that's like, on your coaching call, it'd be a good thing. Like, hey, what do you think I could do in my business to make this easier for command center? Because by making it even for command center, I save money. I want to do that. So that would be one question you could ask a coach for sure. Because they every single day are dealing with command center. Like, I was just talking with a regional manager about.
Something that they had with command center. And it's like, how can we make this simpler and like, smooth so you don't have to charge this back and forth? Be charged for this back and forth. So I see it in my P and LS too, when they submit it to me. This is from no name. Should I have full coverage or just liability insurance on my trucks? Just. It's your risk tolerance. Right? Like when I first got started, I still think to this day on most of my locations, I just do in liability insurance only, but I'm not doing expensive trucks. So just kind of like, what risk do you want to have? Like, I hate spending money on insurance. So I usually am less. I am more risk prone because, like, I don't want to be spending 200amonth in the hopes of saving 15,000 one day. Like if I get hit by an accident, it's a bad day and so I'd rather take the L than having to spend an extra thousand or $2,000 a month to keep my fleet completely fully insured. But that's just because I do. If I get hit by if one of my trucks get hit tomorrow, I can afford to go buy another truck. So keep in mind, what you always want to prevent in business is like going out of business. So, so if going out of business means your $10,000 truck or $20,000 truck gets hit and you have to buy a new one, if that's going to put you out of business, it might be a good idea to spend the extra 100 or $150 a month to get the full coverage. So again, like, all aspects of business, especially in the first 10 years, should be covered to how do I prevent from quitting? That is like and going out of business. If you're going to stay in business for 10 years, usually you do pretty well.
This is a long question.
Is from Audi a conscious the Conscious A Bridge Too Far Apart Part 1 Cosmic Battle for the Heart I. E. Will and Soul of humanity Matthew 27.
Okay, go goth a skull shaped hill in ancient Jerusalem. A profound and interesting fact about Christ's crucifixion learned okay, Yesterday's mastermind. There's a question there that was a reference from a thought from something that was talked about in a TED talk. Culture is so focused on efficiency and hyper productivity that we regularly work produce ourselves out of being happy and mentally healthy. We need time built in that does not have specific value. You had wisely and cautiously commented you thought that this was very egotistical and that unfortunately has crept into the TED talk quite a bit. I want to preface this before I ask my question. In a video I talk, I recently shared a link. Here's the title 4 Keys to Growth for the End Time Believers. In the interview DJ Hargrove is quoted as stating growth should be organic and that when we develop the right culture, organic growth takes place. There are two cultures, Value driven culture and performance driven culture. We should be leaning in towards value driven culture. Question if time is a gift and value is a philosophy, then who we are, who are we accountable to and why is having time built in that does not have specific value? Very egotistical. Oh this is great. Okay. P.S. preface, we hear this word all the time and I have personally failed to acknowledge the Importance when somebody uses this word May or June of this year. Ryan Payne said this. I want to preface this before it had has since engaged me into trying to understand the impact when someone says that. Shout out to Ryan Payne. Thanks. Okay, so I guess this is the real question. That is why is having time built in that does not have specific value Egotistical. Great, great, great, great. So, yeah, what I was saying yesterday about this point was not that time being built in does not have specific value being very egotistical. What I thought was very egotistical was when someone states their own personal belief system and says that, that how it should be for everybody. And that is what I was saying I feel has crept into Ted a lot is people get on stage and like, this is how everyone should operate. This is how the world should operate. This is how countries should operate, this is how economies should operate. And they fail to realize that everyone is different and everyone is individual and every country has different cultures and every race and group of people have different traditions. And what works for one does not work for all. And so to say that every, everybody must, must have time built in to have and that that time produces no specific value. I think it's a youthistical. It's spreading your individualized perspective of the world and shedding that on everybody else as if they should be doing what you're doing. And I think that's pretty egotistical. Anytime someone has a point of view and they think that their point of view should be everyone's point of view is wrong. They might have strong beliefs in something or they see the world in a certain way, but. But don't believe just because you see everyone else should. Now, if you like, for example, if your employees, like, well, in my point of the world, I show up late to work, that's totally fine, great, you're not going to work here anymore. But I'm not going to say that they are a horrible person or a bad human being. That's just their perspective of the world. It's just not going to work well in my culture. And so in my opinion, if someone gets on a stage and says that their opinion is right for everybody, it's pretty egotistical because everyone has their own background and stuff. And you guys will notice, like when I'm on stage, I will quite often say, this is my opinion. This is not necessarily the right way. This is just my opinion. And I do that because everyone has a different context to their life and what they're going through. And what I say might not what was right for me might not be right for them. So that. That's the part that I feel. As you get to school.
Mount Vernon, Tim, how will CC treat door hangers with weekly bi weekly price will be assumed that to more frequent service weekly than if customer requests bi weekly, we change it.
How will CC treat door hangers with weekly bi weekly price? Will it be assumed that it's more frequent service weekly than if customer. Then if customer requests bi weekly, we change it. Yes. Yeah. So anytime that someone just submits the picture, we're going to assume weekly unless they circle it. Now, typically they circle the one they want, but if they don't, we do assume weekly. You're 100% right. And then if the customer wants to change it to bi weekly, we would do that at that time. So yeah, you nailed it.
No other questions are submitted. Fun, Fun. All right, everyone will have a fantastic weekend. Happy Friday. We'll see you on Monday. Tomorrow we do have the third day of cutting edge conference. Feel free to show up. Um, I'm gonna talk a little bit about Copilot at the end, but the first it's gonna be pretty long at 40 minutes, 45 minutes. I'm talking about how to create offers in your ads as well as like, I'm kind of taking what Alexwer Mosey talks about like a hundred million dollar offers, but making it applicable to home services and actually show like some examples of like certain guarantees, certain scarcity, different like ways to actually craft your ad copy. So I think it would be really helpful. You definitely wanna show up for that part. And then I'm actually going to do an offer using all the stuff I talk about at the end for Copilot. So that's like the gist of the whole thing. What other part was in there that I thought was good for everyone? Oh, I'm also going to talk about frames. And I like how to come up with a great offer is like looking at like what we talked about a couple weeks ago and I was like, if I had to grow my business by 10 times faster, what would I have to do if I had to 10. If I charge the customer 10 times as much, like instead of $40 per cut, I charge it 400. What would I have to do these type of frame like frame breaking questions that allow you to then put together an offer. Because when you ask, well, if I had to do it for 10% the cost, so instead of $40, I have to do it for $4. What offer, what provide service would I provide? Now all of a sudden, you start thinking about those. Those things that you can give away for a dollar or two dollars might be the things you do as freebies or bonuses or guarantees in your offer. So we're gonna talk about that tomorrow. I think it'll be helpful if you wanna come along for the ride. I will be putting it on my. I'll stream it to the Facebook group so you can see it if you need to see it there. So appreciate all of you. Have a great weekend. See you on Monday or tomorrow or whenever. Next. Love y'. All.
