NUMBERS REVEALED | $300k Business in 30 Days (16)

This is a Day 16 vlog from Mike Andes’ series documenting his attempt to build a $300,000 lawn care business in 30 days. Mike outlines daily revenue targets (needs $1,500/day for this location; must exceed $1,000 on day 16), shows on-site work including a mulch install ($399), multiple mowing cuts ($59 per cut mentioned), and a property cleanup/trim job ($299). The episode also records operational challenges (no employees/equipment/customers initially, GoPro scare, possible need to hire another team member) and a detailed phone conversation with a client named Rema to confirm trim scope.

I'm traveling 3,000 miles across the country to build a $300,000 lawn care business in just 30 days. This Augusta lawn care location needs to be making $1,500 per day before I can hand it off to a general manager and go back home. I'm starting with no employees, no equipment, and no customers to prove that systems build great businesses.
All right, the game plan for today is very simple. It's day 16. We're past halfway through the chall. I gotta make more than a thousand dollars in one day. So we got several projects, a couple mowing jobs on the schedule today. But to go from a thousand to fifteen hundred isn't gonna be easy because we're gonna have to get another team member hired. However, I've gotta hit a thousand today. So that's the goal. And we're gonna keep track of all of our income and all of our expenses today. Starting off with $27 here at the gas station to fill up the mowers and the gas cans.
This is going to be a property cleanup and a mulch install. We're going to start getting mowing on this one as well. Terrence out here being a beast. We got the mulch.
200 plus tax. Okay, so we are clearing out all these acorns in the flower beds and then installing the brown mulch in these. We've already got a few yards installed all the way back here. Looking beautiful. Let's go. Oh, yeah. Let's go. Looks great. All right, so the mulch, 399. That is the income.
This MO here is 59 per cut. Let's knock it out.
See, when we installed this, because it is way too tight. It doesn't even spin. So that's kind of useless.
For one person. This lawn probably takes about 35 to 40 minutes to mow edge and blow the whole property. All of the cleanup of the leaves and the aches, corns and things in the flower beds. 299 in revenue.
You're natural, dude.
Okay, so I drove away from the property. The GoPro was sitting on the bed rail of the truck, and I drove away with it. So now we've got to see if it's fell off on the road somewhere and hopefully didn't break. Pick out a whole bunch of debris headed as well as the rest of this mulch being installed. So, dude, I literally think I drove away with the GoPro on my truck. I don't know where it's at now. Oh, no.
Okay. After all of that, it's literally Sitting right where I put it. Like most things we quote, unquote, forget.
So this last little cleanup is coming up, but it's 125. I'm a little bit concerned because this is the first cleanup. If you remember, yesterday, I had a bit of a meltdown. I was frustrated about the whole door hanger situation when we have multiple line items that be put on the estimate if the client accepts it by just sending us a picture. But I should have plugged this weeks ago. And so I don't think it cost me a job. He's still accepted, but like, it's frustrating. It's a 605, $500 job. It should be on the schedule right now, but instead we sent him an estimate. Well, this is the first estimate where we have not actually confirmed exactly what the property clip entails besides the customer sending in the accepted quote door hanger. And I'm just going to show up. So it's 299 for a cleanup and what that includes, we're about to find out. It's 125. I sure hope it's not more than like five or six hours.
All right, so we're at the property. We have arrived. Let's go over what exactly this includes because the notes from command center tell me that they. It really just includes the front yard and the left side bed here. Nothing really in the backyard. So it's kind of trimming up all these bushes, pulling out the weeds and the flower beds. Shouldn't take me too long. The problem I am foreseeing is that these bushes are very tall. I do not have a ladder, so I do have a pole saw. We'll see what we can do. I do have the stand on zero turn that I could actually use to kind of honestly stand on if I have to. So we'll see what we can do. But fortunately, the storage facility is only like 5 minute drive from here. So if I need to go pick up the ladder, I can do that. They're really just those three big ones in the front there that I would need the ladder for anyway, so. All right, let's rock and roll. Oh, and this job, this property cleanup, it's $299. So my goal is to get done in less than four hours because then we can make good money on it.
All right, so this client very specifically called yesterday in the command center and asked that we do give her a call prior to wrapping up because she wanted to go over the job and she. She said she works like right around the Corner, So I'm only about 25 minutes in this job, but I've done a lot of the trimming. And what I want to confirm with her is obviously, I'm gonna hit the tops of these, but I want to make sure exactly, because, hey, with trimming, I can always take more off. I can't put it back. So I want to make sure, like, that she wants the azalea cut, even though it's a little bit later in the season. And then she had specifically told command center she didn't want the backyard trees or bushes done. So I've done the left side, but I don't know if I want to do this back one yet just in case. Like, obviously, I think it should be trimmed, but I got to make sure I'm careful. And so I'm gonna give her a call right now. Turned off. Everything away from the AC is all growing into that. But I do want to confirm and have her come by and just make sure it's exactly what she's looking for, because I can always say, hey, look, I'll clean all this debris up. I will clean this all up. But in terms of the bushes, are you happy with how much I'm taking off? Do you want more off, etc.
Foreign.
Is Mike, but I'm with Augusta Long. I'm over at your house trimming the bushes today.
Oh, okay. Okay. Yes, yes, yes.
I'm about an hour away from being done, and I'm not. I'm not done completely, but I did want to make sure because I can always trim more off, but I can't put it back. So I wanted to see if you would be able to come over here anytime in the next 15, 20 minutes, and I can just make sure exactly what you're looking for. I'll still clean out all the debris and things, but I just want to make sure the heights are exactly what you want and you're exactly, you know, what bushes you want down more.
The shorter, the better.
Okay. All right.
I'm not going to be able to get. Yeah, I'm not going to be able to get there within 15, 20 minutes, but all I can say is the shorter, the better.
Okay. And then my only question was, yeah, don't worry about.
Don't worry about being too short.
Okay. All right. I just don't want to hurt too many of the bushes because it is a little bit later in the season, but I'll get them as low as I think I can go. Being safe. The bottom, the left hand side, my one Question is that tree that is on the very corner. I know you had said not to worry about the ones in the backyard, but I'm assuming that one in the corner you still want done, Correct?
The corner of the house?
Yeah.
Or the corner by the shed?
No, by the right against the house.
Right against the house. Well, there's some odd looking tree there that. That can be gone.
Okay, I'll cut that one way back then. Yeah, yeah, that's the one I was wanting to make sure I just didn't make. I want to were attached to it.
Sorry. There's like three round bushes and then some really odd looking thing in the corner there.
Perfect. Yep. No, I'll clean that one up. I just wanted to make sure that you didn't work, considering that the backyard. So I think we're good.
Okay. Perfect.
All right. Sounds good.
I should be there. You said you. You said you'll be done within an hour. I should be back within an hour.
That's totally fine. Cool. I'll see you then, at least.
Okay, perfect.
Thanks, Rema. Have a good one. Will do, Artie. Bye. Bye.
Thank you.
Awesome. So she'll be back here within an hour. We will be mostly finished. But I want to make sure I do see her before because we haven't met her. We haven't gone over the scope of work. It's all literally just been a door hanger accepted via email. And I just gave her a call. So based upon, you know, using all information, I think we've got a pretty good understanding. And she made it pretty clear. She made it pretty clear that she does want this bush in the back here trimmed off out. I thought so, but I just want to make sure. Obviously all these are suckers. I'll get the ivy off the eve of the house. But yeah, this is the main one I was asking her about. So we'll cut this thing out completely. My GoPro is dying, so I don't know if I'll have any footage of it, but I'll go right down to the base and get these bad boys out. Completely sa.
Far away then. Yeah, like two minutes. Oh, cool. I work in a restaurant, so it's hard for me to leave. Just get out. No, that gets you totally. There's a lot of that undergrowth stuff, so we just cleared it out. And then we just been raking and getting tons of debris. What's the rules with the debris here? Do you know? From the city? Your neighbor said it's like they'll take branches.
Is it four feet? Okay. Yeah, I think that's. Usually it's four feet, I've heard, but every, like, every little area is a little different. Oh, is it? Yeah. Like, we went to a place yesterday, they're like, oh, yeah. Like, you have tons. The other place was like, nope, they won't pick anything. The only thing is they like for the piles to be a little smaller. All right, we'll move them apart. Yep. So they can. I tried to get as much of the ivy had gone up into the eaves. I gotta get that little bit there still. Yeah.
I went through the. I was literally gonna pipe picking through it. I was like, I'm gonna make that hole bigger if I keep picking through because it went through the.
Yeah, that's fine.
Inside. Okay. All right, perfect. In terms of direct cost of labor today, we can assume, let's just say, $30 an hour. So taxes and workers comp and all that's included. I worked about four hours, and Terence worked eight hours. That's 12 hours. Multiply that by 30, that's $360 in direct labor. All right, so just wrapping up. Terrance is rolling out, but fortunately, we were able to leave the debris here at the curb. Saved us a ton of time, but this is kind of the finished product. Honestly, the challenging part was just getting all the undergrowth that was coming up and then going up the siding and the ivy and everything, so. Looks much, much better. Client is super happy. She's gonna be calling for more services in the future. And in all, this project, again, was 299. A lot lower than I typically am used to. However, we did get it done within about three and a half to three and three quarters of an hour. So it took me about two to about two and a half of my hours. And then Terrence came and helped me wrap up the job after he finished his job, and he was here for a little over an hour. So all in all, all in day's work, customers happy. Was this success?
