OUR TRIP TO NASHVILLE

Brandi and Mike Andes travel to Nashville for a coaching session with Cameron French, owner of Erosion Masters LLC, discussing his business challenges and back injury. They carb-cycle, try a $33 smoothie at a farmers market, and improvise a microwave hack in their hotel room.

What are you hitting today? I'm a Bonnie. That's right, let's get it. That is our ideal Saturday morning. We're gonna go do— oh, actually, Mike's gonna go do stairs. I'm gonna walk.
What'd you listen to during your workout?
Just music.
Mm, I listen to this new guy. He's like a small creator. His name is Greg. He's the CEO of Bloom Energy. He makes those.
Sorry.
Pretty good channel, pretty good channel.
Something semi-new that my coach has incorporated over the past like maybe 2 months actually is carb cycling and something I've never done before, but now she has me do it on weekends. So basically on weekends she has me doing higher carbs in my meal plan and then on weekdays it's like my normal deep deficit. And she also has me doing no cardio on weekends, which, hey, I ain't mad about it. But that's why I'm going for a walk on the stairs, and Michael's actually running stairs. To be honest, I'm using that as an excuse. I could probably totally run stairs, I just don't want to. Got that off my chest. So that's kind of where I'm at in my meal plan. I've been doing this ever since the beginning of December, and we have yet to change my workout routine. So it's been about 6 months, it's time to change it up. So my next second day, which is always on Wednesdays, I'm gonna ask my coach to switch out my workout routine and just get some variety because I am a little burnt out, not gonna lie. How many stairs is this?
Uh, I've counted it before, I think 113.
Doesn't that look ominous? It just like winds all the way down. 113 stairs. And how many times do you run up and down?
I do it 15 times.
What a beast.
My calves love it.
Yeah, the first time Mike ever brought me here, we were still dating and we ran stairs. My calves were sore for 2 weeks. That's not even an exaggeration. It was awful. So I'll leave you to it. I'm gonna go for a walk. Good luck.
Thank you.
Love ya. Although the wintertime in the Pacific Northwest can be a little gloomy for like 5-ish months, the summertime makes it so worth it. Like, days like this when the weather's perfect, it just really makes the winters worth it. I just went to the falls, totally forgot to get a clip, but here's a picture. And, uh, let's cut to Mike. How was it?
Fabulous.
Did you get any clips?
Clips? Got gains, baby.
10 out of 10. No notes.
No notes.
No notes. Nothing to add. It's just that good. Swinging like down. Elbow up at the back, buddy. Elbow up.
Yep, that's it.
All right. Good morning from a Delta SkyMiles Club. This thing is so cool. I've never been in an airport like membership club situation, just like waiting for your flight or layover or whatever. This is so cool. I got a really, really good almond milk latte. Mike got breakfast. He's checking out their yogurt bowl bar. We are waiting to board our plane because we are going to Nashville, and I'm so excited. Of all the cities we've been able to visit in the past several months, Nashville and almost anywhere in Texas are like— have been my favorite. We came to Nashville like almost exactly a year ago. I think in July it'll be a year, and there's so many places I want to revisit and new restaurants we want to go to. We also have a turnaround there. We're gonna fly back and then do a turnaround, kind of semi-ish semi-local to us.
Hey y'all, this is Blake Shelton here welcoming you to the Nashville International Airport. Okay, vlog.
So it's Christmas morning.
We didn't have a microwave in our motel and Vanna is on meal plan. So what do we do?
We buy a microwave and we hold on to the receipt because this is absolutely getting returned. But we're staying in this hotel for 3 3 nights and I need a microwave to cook all of my food. Are you like, it's high maintenance? Yes, I'm fully aware, but we have goals to reach.
All right, 9 PM Walmart came in clutch.
$60.
This doesn't track. It was $60 or $80?
It was $60. But like, usually 3, 2-star, 3-star hotels have a fridge and a microwave. We have the fridge, no microwave.
Yeah, usually we don't like the really nice hotels because they don't have microwaves or fridges, but the less nice ones usually do.
Exactly. Oh yeah, books, it's like Christmas.
So we want it not too nice of a hotel, but not too bad of a hotel, like a Motel 6 situation.
I thought Courtyards by Marriott or anything by Marriott would— you know what, maybe I should just flip it upside down.
I would help, but I'm doing my big job over here.
That's a cute little guy.
I literally had to walk into the front, past the front desk lady, and she just like looked at me like with such confusion.
Well, I called earlier and, well, I accidentally hung up on her because the cord disconnected. Anyways, I was like, is there any way we can get a microwave? And she was like, no, unfortunately.
Click.
And I was like, oh man, she probably thinks I just hung up on her out of anger. But nay, it was just because this phone cord gets disconnected like super easy.
I'm gonna pop it out like nobody's business. I think it's like broken or something.
Press 0 to unlock.
Why is it not It's probably taped, isn't it?
To open the microwave, press 0 or stop/clear.
Man, it's not plugged in.
All right, let's try this again. Why does it have to be plugged in for you to open it? Why would they zip tie this, folks?
Can you just slide it off? No.
I have a knife from home.
Here, you want me to do that? I think I have a hack.
Don't do this at home. All right, okay, all right, okay, that makes sense. So you do need to plug it in for it to open. There was no such thing as a weight limit whenever it comes to like luggage traveling, whatever. I would totally bring a microwave with me.
We already bring a scale.
Her maiden voyage! And welcome to our beautiful hotel here in Nashville where we stay on track and hit our goals. How was it?
Crushed it. It was a great park.
This is such a cool park. We are at Bicentennial Park in downtown Nashville. It's like a huge memorial basically, and I don't know how many like acres or miles that you can walk it, but it is so cool. It basically connects to downtown and connects up to the state, the state capital building, and it's right next to the farmers market. It kind of looked like not everyone was set up, like they were starting. It's open, but like not everyone had all their booths booths ready yet. So peak time is probably like the heat of the day.
This is the part of the show where Brandi loves walking through the farmer's market and Mike Andes enjoys checking his email.
And then check this out, like corn stalk and tomato bike racks. The corn— the only corn maze we have the attention span for. Nice, nice.
Wow. Ooh la la. Brandi, you can sing a song on the stage. Just what we need.
I'm feeling like, like even though we're here, I can't really take anything home because we already were over our weight limit for both of our suitcases. No space. La La Land taste test. That's an almond milk latte with vanilla.
Wait, this is the matcha?
Matcha. Is it good though? Like, be honest.
Yeah, it's pretty good. It's a little watered down, honestly.
That's good.
Is it good?
It's a matcha. Plugs are really cute, the heart-shaped plugs.
It's good. I don't know if it's worth waiting in that line for it though.
We got in there just before the outdoor line started, so glad we were able to try it. It's good, not gonna lie. I would not wait in a line that long again for just like some matcha and a coffee.
These people are waiting in line, they're gonna take an hour and a half, and it's not even like— that's not an exaggeration in the slightest.
We waited like 45 minutes.
Okay, let me try the matcha.
I usually don't have matcha. You don't like matcha though.
I'm not a huge fan of matcha.
What did you just order?
The most expensive smoothie I've ever had in my entire life, and I did it just because it was so expensive.
How much is it?
$33. But Vanna, it's called the Billion Dollar Smoothie.
There's like a bajillion ingredients in there, but they're all like incredibly healthy superfood things.
Yeah, every social media buzzword like colostrum, MCT oil, everything you could think of just smashed into one smoothie. Just had to try it. I asked the lady, I'm like, "Hey, just out of curiosity, because I love business, I just want to know why is it so expensive?" Definitely some of the add-ins like toko.
I've never heard of toko before, but it's like a superfood. Derived from brown rice.
Just the name of it is so genius because like if you have a $33 smoothie, make sure it's called the Billion Dollar Smoothie.
Let me show all the ingredients in here, like mushroom blend, aloe vera, creatine, colostrum, Apex Superfood Blend, insane, all the buzzwords. Is it worth the $33? You feel like you're healthier?
It definitely feels like it's hard to pinpoint point what's inside because I never had it before. Uh, is it worth $33? I guess I'll let you know later if I can like fly.
It's like the kind of smoothie that hopefully cleanses you from the inside out.
I do feel like my stomach is a little uneasy because I don't know what it's digesting right now.
Oh, that's not good.
Well, like, do you see that ingredient list?
Yeah, but like all good things, it's like putting—
it's like putting a high-octane gas in your car for the first time. It doesn't know what to do.
Now we are going to head to a vibey barber spot for Michael to get a little haircut, and I'll either explore or I don't know, we'll find out. But I love Nashville so much. I could live here. Me every time I go to a new city that's not Bellingham. Let's play a fun little game. We are waiting at this morning's turnaround for Terrell to wrap up B-roll so we can get out there. Let's try to predict how long you think coaching is going to take. How long do you think it'll be for you to Like knowing what you know about this applicant and the problems since you reviewed them last night, how long do you think this would take? Hmm.
Once we're at his house or from the time we start the shot?
Uh, like just, just the coaching part once we're at his house. Hour and 10. An hour and 10 minutes? Okay. I'm gonna show the time whenever coaching starts and we'll see how close.
Well, here's the thing. The thing is if I've, If I had to be fast, I could do it in 15 minutes. But for the sake of the show, I am going to make sure we go deeper.
Easy. 15 minutes?
Oh yeah, easy.
He's a second.
No, no, just because he doesn't have big problems.
Also, just based off the call I did with him, his application video, he doesn't really talk in circles. Like, he's good at talking.
Yeah, he's abbreviated.
Which I appreciate.
But if you're not good talking, you should still apply to the Turnaround Trail. Agreed.
All right, an hour and 10. You heard it here first.
But generally— Merci. You know, when I was thinking about it, there was only so many people doing it and—
All right, not quite, you know, an hour and 10 minutes, but that's totally fine. It was such good coaching, about 2 and a half hours. I was tracking.
I thought about it during coaching. I was like, I'm gonna lose that bet.
That's hilarious.
I was like, I could speed run this. I think I know where this is going.
Oh no, no, no need to rush it. No, it was really good.
I'll fix in post.
It seemed like you actually really took your time more with him. Like you obviously are intentional with everybody, But like with him, I felt like he was almost your ideal guy because he was young and felt some of the pain points that you can relate to.
Yeah, I see a lot of myself in him. Yeah, they do like a million— do a million dollars in revenue. They do erosion controls like slip fencing, straw rolls, like on erosion, street sweeping with, uh, for job sites. Um, yeah, pretty cool. But only like 4 customers make up like 95% of their revenue. And so, and he can't get back in the field, so he's very concerned about losing a couple of his employees because his back is out. Um, and then he has a kid coming in 4 weeks. He didn't have a honeymoon because he was so busy with the business. And so trying to prevent that when the kid comes along.
