Yeah, we're just gonna share a little bit about conference and what we learned and some takeaways and different things. But I think for me, one of the biggest ones that, that stood out. And Mike actually did a supplementary video to his YouTube channel after. I'll probably post it in the team chat. But it was like, what's, it's kind of motivational, but it's also like, real. He's like, what's holding you back? Like, what are all the challenges? And like, he really lays it out, like all the challenges of being business owner, like, what the issues are and like why people fail, why people don't want to be a small business owner because it's not all glitz and glamour and it's not all, you know, nice cars and, and not working. Like, it's actually a lot more work than a lot of people want to paint it out to be. So that was like a big takeaway. Sometimes I think it's easy to forget when you're just in the operational side of a business that like, yeah, Mike does all these things, but it's still not easy, right? Like, just because he's the guy or whatever, it's, it's still going to be a challenge for him, like every day. And all the other business owners out there that like, we're trying to help, right? Trying to help everybody, all the franchisees and then anyone that has Mike's content and is a part of that. So, like, at the end of the day, for a small business owner and for a lot of us, there's no like, hey, I'm done. Like, Mike doesn't open a service autopilot and then clock out of his last job at 5, right? Like the list never ends. And I think it's kind of eye opening when you think about that. And that's why we're doing, what we do is to help those guys in our industry that don't have a clock out time.
Right?
Do you remember last year, how bad you wanted to be there and then it ended up that you couldn't be till the last day and you're totally exhausted from the 22 hour snow shift. So when you thought of this year, what were you thinking going into it and then how was it in your expectations?
I'll just always remember the moment where it's just like, whoa. I think we had like maybe 60 ish people there. Like not tons, but it's just like, whoa. Like this guy got on a plane from Florida, this guy got on a plane from, you know, Virginia to You know, kind of come be a part of this and kind of be a part of this community and so forth. That community feel and kind of being part of a bigger group was kind of one of the things that hit me a bit as well. But yeah, like, you know, we're all kind of better together kind of a thing. And like, you know, there's your, you know, how old is Seth in North Dakota? Like 16 or 17 or something like that. Like, pretty young. And then like, you have guys that, you know, have million and a half dollar businesses, you know, and so forth, kind of going into the finer of, you know, advertising on Google and, you know, kind of that whole bit like, it's just kind of like the whole spectrum and everybody was kind of there.
Yeah, I like what you said too, about. You said two years ago when everybody were able to get together, you know, at that hotel, and you're saying people somewhere from Florida, Virginia, all over the place. And even though I've never been to one like that, still, that zoom call with, you know, the 150 people, it's still like that sense of community that at least I felt. So. Yeah. And how active the chat was and people actively asking questions and them being answered right on the spot for them is really cool for them. But yeah, it's cool. And there's one guy from what, like, Australia? Andrew Little.
Yeah, and New Zealand.
It's cool to see, especially with all the diversity of people, how universal the concepts are that Mike teaches and the systems and, you know, if they could work for us, they could work for basically everybody else. And they could work really well too, as well. So everybody else is taking notes. I was taking my own notes. I was a student too as well. So that was really cool to see. All the spreadsheets, the marketing, you know, why we choose Google services over Facebook, things like that. But I, I took a lot out of it.
Like, I think one thing that's cool is like, Mike always like, preaches authenticity. Like, that's what we are here. And I know it's easy. Like, you know, if someone finds them on YouTube, they're gonna be like, oh, this guy just, you know, he's just one of those. Like, oh, it's all great. It's all good, right? Like, you know, every once in a while he gets a comment like that, or someone's just like, o. You don't even know what you're saying. Like, that's not motivational, blah, blah, blah. But it's like if you actually, like, listen to the content and you take part in, like, the conference and engage with Austin, Brad, Marcus, myself, Liz. Like, we share the horror stories. Like, we share everything it took to, like, build what's been built here. And I think that that's really cool, like, if you can get past, like, the. Oh, Mike's just another, you know, millennial YouTuber. It's like, no, it's like, it's all real. Like, everything we do here is real. And that's. That's why we're doing it. So I think that's always a cool remind. Like, it's a bummer we couldn't do conference in person, but it was cool. Like, Josh and Austin were saying, like, the chat was super active, so it felt like we could actually make more connections and explain that authenticity even more.
Right?
Because conferences can be all, you know, flashy lights and cool presentations and, you know, seminars. But this was just like. It was just Mike kind of. It was like intimate, right? It was Mike talking to everyone. And it felt like one on one, right? Because they're behind their computer and they're looking at Mike. So I think the authenticity really came through this year.
I talked to Mike Mike last night, and he was saying, you know how you go to events and the person in charge is saying, this will be coming up next and this will be coming up next and we'll get this done. You know, he's been working 20 hours a day while he's been gone. He said, I wanted to make sure that the stuff I said was going to happen was going to happen. And one of the things for the franchisees was having the tipping function, and we've made them do thank you cards, get well cards, and several other things. Like, every day he's just been knocking out the stuff and getting it done. He said, I want them to know that it's not like other companies that they promise, and three years down the road, they still haven't delivered. He said, I want them to know when we say stuff happens, we're going to get it done.
