THE ATTORNEYS CALLED | $300k Business in 30 Days (30)

Mike Andes documents a one-month challenge: traveling ~3,000 miles to launch an Augusta, GA lawn care location and hit a target of $300,000 revenue by building it to $1,500 per day in 30 days. The footage covers day-to-day operations (estimates, mowing, equipment purchases, staff logistics), challenges (poor weather, vehicle damage, low early close rates), outcomes (over 20 mowing customers, 60+ leads, schedule booked 4+ weeks out), and reflections on relying on systems to weather setbacks.

I'm traveling 3,000 miles across the country to build a $300,000 lawn care business.
In just 30 days.
This Augusta lawn care location needs to be making $1,500 per day before I.
Can hand it off to a general manager and go back home.
I'm starting with no employees, no equipment, and no customers to prove that systems build great businesses.
Now, as much as I desperately want.
To get home after this month long.
Challenge, I also, in a way, would like to stay here for another month. I trul with the momentum that we have, I would probably have at least.
Three to four trucks rolling by the.
End of one more month and at least a few more employees. Now, that is not the plan for the south park location once I'm gone. The reason is because Chandler is a new manager. He needs to come for training for an entire week at our headquarters in Washington and just get more comfortable with managing employees. It would not be fair to him to throw him into the next month having to hire three or four more people and scaling up to 40, 50,000amonth in revenue. So instead, we'll book out the schedule pretty far, raise prices, and probably get one employee in July, maybe a second one in August. But next spring he'll be able to grow as much as he wants. This is a great market. We got lots of momentum behind us, and we're finishing out this one month with more than 20 mowing customers, and we've gotten over 60 leads, and we're more than four weeks booked out on the schedule. I want to remind everyone that this is a market that I am not familiar with. I'm not familiar with the grasses. This is the worst weather they've had in June in many, many years. It's crazy, man.
Look at this.
You can hear it.
It's a deluge. All these just got soaked.
And I started the business in the middle of the season instead of in the spring rush, when I would typically have tried to get more like 40 or 50 mowing customers. I was only able to get just over 20.
All right, so I'm dropping Jonathan to his project. That's a big one. Not a huge fan of dropping off a guy without a truck, but we have two massive projects and a whole bunch of MO's and we only have the two trucks, so we gotta just make do with what we got. And I drop him here. Go knock out a whole bunch of mows and estimates and then come and pick them back up later.
All right, so the OG members of the vlog remember this property, all right? Echo, you ready? Time for your maiden voyage. Be a good girl now.
Oh, it's probably smart to have a.
Key and unlock this thing.
Dude.
I think the other keys are the ones that work.
Sick.
It almost gives me PTSD just driving in here. This is our very first MO or job this entire month, and it went badly. Remember, the locks were all incorrect. I didn't have the right keys.
Zach left with my phone.
Took a long time. I didn't know where he was at.
The tire popped on the zero turn.
Our very first job. Our very first job here in south park went miserably. And now she's still on bi weekly cut just for the backyard.
$50, 30 minutes.
I should get this done in 15 to 20 ma.
Today.
It doesn't need to be done.
Okay. This is going to become a problem at this customer's house. We got a dog here that is a supposedly is a biter. According to the customer and the notes we have on this property, the dog's a biter. Good luck, Mike. So I gotta literally talk to this customer every single time we come here, and I'm not a fan of that. So we're gonna have to fix this or else this customer just have to let him go.
Just gonna send command center a quick voice note about that client. Hey, team. You'll see I skipped Betty Johnson's today. Same thing happened last week when Terrence went there. She didn't want service. Today. She was not home and the dog was out in the backyard. Couldn't do services either. So I've made notes on the skipped visit and if you could just give her a call and basically say, okay, if this happens in the future, if you don't give us 24 hour heads up, we have to. We have to charge you. And I know she does not have a email or possibly phone number, so we might not be able to even do an automation for her that we're coming the next day. But, like, if it keeps happening, we're just gonna have to let her go.
Jonathan just reached out to me and said that some of those branches and trees at the property cleanup he's doing today needs a chainsaw. So I'm just gonna go buy a chainsaw because we also needed the property. I just did the estimate for and I'm also going to buy another trimmer because today we're kind of juggling trimmers now there's three of us, and so I'm gonna get another trimmer as well. This is the type of job where it's nice to have the ramp rack because there is no parking on the street. If I had a trailer, I'd be in a tough spot. So little small lawn, we'll knock this out.
All right, this might look familiar. A couple days ago we did a property clean up here. Today I'm going to be mowing both the properties. So some good route density couple around there as well down the street. So let's rock and roll. Okay, so you might like this on copilot, the dispatch board. I really like the fact that you can see all the jobs on the map throughout the day on a mobile device as well as where your trucks are at. So it makes it super helpful even when I'm out in the field to be able to see all this information and see everything on the mobile device. In addition to my regular schedule, which looks a little bit more linear and is designed more in this fashion, I kind of like the grid view and on today's schedule just to be like this so I can just work my way through my calendar. But there is also a calendar view.
Now you might ask, was there ever a time in the past 30 days where you doubted whether or not you'd.
Hit the goal of $1500 per day?
And the truthful answer to that is absolutely. Even in week two and three, I still was not fully confident that we were going to hit the goal. We only had a few mowing customers, we weren't getting a lot of traction. Our close ratio for the first couple weeks was literally 20% or less. However, now with Augusta, I've seen this 130 times and that is it is very predictable at the beginning when you have no brand awareness, when you don't know the market, when you're just getting started, to not have the confidence to be able to close deals and you don't have that momentum. And so you also have to do in that scenario is have confidence in the systems. And I know it's been cliche because it's in the intro of the videos and it is to prove that systems build great businesses.
Systems build great businesses. And so having confidence in the systems that we've built at Augusta over the past years is what kept me accountable to keep putting in the actions and the inputs required to now see the results of three days on the schedule that are over the fifteen hundred dollar per day goal and be now booked out for four or five weeks out in the future.
Confidence in great systems is what allows you to be unemotional about what actions you're taking in the business because they're tried and they're proven. And whether you listen to YouTube videos or you listen to books or you watch other competitors or talk to other people local in your market or other business owners, you've got to create systems in your business that regardless of whether or not you feel good, whether you're inspired or whether you think you're going to hit your targets and your goals, you continually put in the actions required to that you know, based upon time tested systems, you get to a specific destination. When you're flying on an airplane. There's times there's turbulence, there's times when your stomach feels like it's in your throat and it's like, oh my word, like what's happening? There's lightning and there's flashing like we're getting jolted all over the place. But why don't you get up and like freak out? It's because you have confidence that the FFA and that the engineers and the pilots have done their work, they've done their research to create safety systems, checklists and protocol to ensure you get to your destination 99.9999999% of the time safely and on time.
Okay, let's just, let's just say safely because they're usually not on time.
Look, turbulence is going to happen in your business. You will have car accidents, you will have people quit on you. You will have bad weather, you'll have months where you can't close any jobs. And you've got to have confidence in something. The systems you build, the things that are the backbone of your business is what keeps you through the emotional low, low moments to continue on the way to your destination.
We got another estimate. It is a follow up to a door hanger. Got my trusty briefcase. Gonna take this to them.
Here we go.
That's the job right there.
Hi, Jill.
How you doing? Fine. Come on in.
You know it says you do all these things.
Yep.
And we have someone who has been cutting our Y years. Nice guy. But I think that we need to take a look at what you can do.
Okay.
And you can give us a quote on, on your services for sure.
In the front yard. I'm going to walk you through the initial property cleanup. But the goal is eventually to basically do more of a recurring basis. Everything in this front flower bed is basically is knocked all the way back. A lot of these plants kind of flower in the spring. Then we got to knock it all back. And in the fall they come back. There's a lot of the weeds. But then all this stuff would Just come back down to like six inches, essentially. Definitely want to do a walk through with her prior to the visit. I will do it on a monthly basis. Just make sure any customizations are necessary. Same thing with all this. You can see it's been flowered. We got to cut it all the way back. All this has got to be cut all the way back.
Cutting the lawn, weeding.
And trimming the.
Bushes, and trimming the bushes back.
You can see very established beds. All these bushes need to be trimmed. We'll be coming here on a monthly basis, but for now, weeds, etc, just this initial property pimp to kind of get up to standard. All right, well, I'll make a video for the office. They will email you later today. I think they need to get your email, actually. And then they'll itemize each of those options for you and you can pick and choose what you want to do. And then what I'll have them do, Jill, is the initial visit will kind of get everything to standard and they'll make sure they do a walkthrough with you. Make sure you're happy. Because that's kind of like the benchmark for where every other visit needs to get to that level.
Start over here on this tree. Kind of limbed it up a little bit. There's a lot of branches dragging the dirt. He's looking to get some mulch later on. So went around, pulled all the weeds, kind of left the monkey grass. A lot of it was just taller than the monkey grass. So I was just snatching it out. It took a good little while, but.
Man, but he came out here, he.
Said he liked it, so.
Dude, that's awesome. He's crushing it. Yeah, man.
Trying to run from the sun.
You can't run. Can't run from yesterday. Like the other day, it's nice because everything's in the shade, but dude, this is hot.
Everybody's in the shade but me.
But you.
Put a rake up, weed it in the bed as well. But just limbed it up, make the tree look like have more volume weed eating it down in the back. Trimmed all the bushes. Gonna head to the back after I clean up up here.
All right, we're at the dealer. Let's pick up a trimmer and a chainsaw. Let's do it.
Fancy schmancy.
Steel rider mowers that are electric. A little overpriced, I would say. Carry echo trimmers or not. We don't carry them in house. We can get the parts though. Okay. Okay, then I guess for now, if I could just get an MS.170. That'd be great. Thank you very much.
Awesome.
Thank you.
Take care.
You as well.
All right, so I haven't heard anything.
From the mechanic about P2 that was.
Damaged last week in a car wreck.
And so I'm gonna give them a.
Quick call and just check in, see what's going on.
Hey, my guy. We finished the repair and he's got it on the alignment machine.
He's finishing up the alignment now, but we're going to try to get it as best as possible because when we put in the machine, we saw that he has some bent. The frame on the left side top is bent also, but he's doing the alignment and tried to make all of the adjustments to get it as best as possible. So it could be drivable, but you might have to go to a frame shaft to straighten out the frame because it's on the driver's side. When everything got crushed, it bent the frame a little also.
All right, should I drop by it later or tomorrow or what?
No, it's going to be today. He's finishing it up as we speak right now. I'll tell you within the next 30 minutes what time to get it.
Okay.
All right, thank you very much.
Okay. You're welcome.
All right, bye.
Bye.
That's frustrating.
So changed out the suspension and everything for twelve hundred dollars. The arm and a couple other things. Getting it all aligned now. But they didn't tell me beforehand that the frame was bent, so that's very annoying because they said they looked at it and all that was needed was a suspension.
Oh, man.
It might just still be a total because I don't want the guys driving with a bent frame.
All right, we'll see what happens. I have to check it out.
All right, just rolling up here on Jonathan. This is the project he's working on today. Clearing out a whole bunch of overgrown trees and brush from this front yard. Looks like we got a whole bunch of branches down.
Then. Yeah. Working on the backyard, too. All right, so as anticipated on this job, just a ton of debris. So I'm glad I made sure the client knew that this was not getting hauled off. This is all going to the curb, and if they do need us to haul it off, it's gonna be like $600, so.
Well, if you noticed, that last job kind of cut off with a little breath plate. Didn't film much there. Why?
Because I was using my phone.
Why was I using my phone? I was on the phone with the insurance and attorneys that is not a good combination. So today we found out that the truck might have a slight bent in the frame. Gotta check that out. Tomorrow, we also found out that we. The people that Terrence hit in the car, they're claiming they all got hurt. And there's an army of attorneys at it, so the drama continues.
