A short talk arguing that a home services business must be built like a heavy-duty chain: every link—sales, operations, admin—must be strong or the business will fail. The speaker illustrates how weaknesses (poor sales processes, chaotic operations, or inadequate phone handling) cause lost leads, bad reviews, and business failure.

In my opinion, a chain is far more representative of home services because it's actually the thing that gets you out of a tight spot when you need it most. Like if you really need to pull your truck out of the mud because it got stuck, you're not going to go get a chain like this, you're not going to get a piece of rope. You're going to get a hardcore heavy duty chain. And that's what is required to be able to build a home service business without breaking if any part, any link in that chain, sales, operation, operations or admin is faulty or is weak, the break, the chain will break, the business will break. If your sales is faulty, the process is faulty. If operations is chaotic, you're getting bad reviews, customers are not happy, your business will fail. If you're in the service business and your service stinks and operations, your business will fail. If you come to admin and people can't answer the phone correctly, they don't do upsells. They are constantly calling out and then phone calls are going to voicemail and half of your time on the week things are going to voicemail. If you have someone answering the phone for 40 hours a week, you know how many hours are in a week? 168. Which means that for 70% of the week, phone calls are going to the voicemail. And here's a fun fact, only about 37% of people leave voicemails. Which means you're missing about 63% of all your leads every time someone's not answering the phone and they're not answering the phone 120 hours out of the week, probably good idea to answer the phone.
