Hey everyone, I'm Mike Yandes. If you don't know who I am, I'm 25 years old. I own Augusta Lawn Care services. We have 37 locations around North America. I own a anytime fitness gym. I have real estate and stocks. About 10 real, 10 real estate deals I've done and then I do stocks. I also just recently started Reset Mind and Body, which is like a mental health biohacking type of a facility. Lawn care, Web Design and LandscapeBusinessCourse.com are also websites that I own. We build websites for people, do courses, things like that. And I want to talk today really for like it's 10, it's 10:50pm right now on a Saturday night and just wrapping up a few things here at my desk and wanted to kind of make this video for those of you just getting started, those of you who are younger in this game. I'm 25. I still feel very young, like I'm still trying to learn a lot this business world and business game. And I wanted to kind of share a few things that has really helped me and I hope it helped you. And I think that when you think about your future, you think about what you want to do in business and in making a career and making money. I think the thing that you want to think about, if you really want to have a career that's fulfilling and going to help others and is going to be more than just making money, which in my opinion is short lived, short term joy, it's not long term fulfilling. I think that the way that you want to think about it is how can you help other people get what they want in life? I truly believe if you think that way and if you actually try your best all the time, whether it be your employees, whether it be your family, whether it be other business owners, whether it be your competitors, whether it's whether to be other human beings in general, whether it be your customers trying to get them where they want to be at in life. In my opinion, very fulfilling and also a huge business opportunity. All right, so for example, lawn care and landscaping, Augusta lawn care. Our goal is to get our customers to give them the one thing they can't really buy anywhere else, and that's time. We're trying to save them time so they can spend time with their loved ones, with their grandkids, you know, playing golf on the weekend, doing whatever it is they want to do after maybe a long work week or whatever it might be. But the goal is trying to help other people get where they want to be. At in life. And so, for example, at Augusta Lawn Care, I've made it now my business of trying to help other people start lawn care businesses and grow and succeed by them buying an Augusta Lawn Care franchise and then supporting them as much as I possibly can to make them successful. And I really believe when it comes to making money, being successful, having a really fulfilling career, that can help a lot of people and make lots of money, I really believe that if you really truly believe and in your heart of hearts want to help other people get where they want to be at in life and financially, you're going to be set, you're going to be completely fine. The more people you can do that, the more money and the bigger your business can become, in my opinion. So, for example, like Facebook, billions of people literally use their products and it helps them in their life. And some people would argue that social media has hurt a lot of people, but in the micro, those people are using it to communicate, to advertise, to connect. It helps them in their life, it helps them do something better. And I really believe if you're looking for a new business idea, if you're looking for a new service or product that you want to market, that you want to begin to make a business around, ask yourself, what can I do that's going to help other people get to where they want to be at in life, that's going to make life a little bit easier for somebody else, that's going to give them time to spend how they want to do that. And I think that's like one of the best business strategies you'll have. Because thinking about other people is a long term solution that will make you happy. Giving other people what they want in life, your employees, giving them a safe and healthy place to work at, a place where they feel like they get to the next level in their career. It's so satisfying and fulfilling to see that happen. Another thing is like I've really found to be so important is just laser, like focus on the things that you can control in life. I feel like, you know, millennials and a lot of us that are younger getting started with our businesses, we get so wrapped up in things we cannot control, we cannot control the politicians, we singularly us. I, as a human being, one person cannot control who's in office, which way taxes are set, what way regulations are, whether or not I wear a mask, all of those things, in my opinion, they are not going to change whether or not I'm successful. I'm going to play within the confines of the game, the rules of the game. I don't make the rules. Like if I'm playing a soccer game, I don't play the rules. I am simple. I don't, I don't choose the referee. I don't get to make the calls. All I am focused on doing is winning the game and taking the rules of the game that I have been put in and trying to maximize my success and inside the framework of those rules and win the game. So whether there's a Republican in office, whether it's a Democrat, whether there is high taxes or low taxes, whether I have great employees or I have a really bunch of bad employees that I got to get rid of and I got to change the culture, whether I have a great product, whether a bad product, like regardless of the things I can't control, I'm going to strip those things away and look at the things that I can control because I can control my perspective of my circumstances. I can choose my mindset. I can choose whether or not I wake up every single day and lead other people in my organization. And I'm a good example. I can choose if I work out and stay healthy in my mind and my, my body and in my spirit. Those are the things that I can control. And so getting wrapped up and spending energy and complaining and feeling like you're a victim to things that you cannot control, you cannot control certain things and so to get mad at them literally makes you feel like a victim because you can't change them. And so what I would encourage you to do, if you're a business owner, stop complaining about the, the politics or the economics or the virus or the stimulus or whether or not so and so should get money all. I don't care. I don't care. I've said this before, so we won't like it. I don't care if I was put inside a, of a communist country and that was the game I was put into, if I was put into that game, I would figure out a way to win, be successful, whatever success is to you, making a money, making a great business, having a successful family, whatever that is to you success regardless of the game I'm put in and the rules of that game. My only goal is to win the game. It's not to change the rules. It's not to get mad at the referee. It's not get mad when they make a call that I don't like or if the other team that's against me is somehow doing something unfair. That is not what I'm Concerned about. I'm concerned about on the things that I can control. And when it comes to that game, that soccer game that we were talking about, the things I can control is my level of preparation, my level of dedication, my level of effort, my level of work ethic, my level of working together with my team, supporting my team members, supporting my coaching staff. That's the only thing I can control. And that's where you should spend most, if not all, of your energy in your business. What are the things I can control? Complaining, groaning, being unhappy or scared or fearful of all the things you can't control is a waste of energy.
Another thing I think is really, really important when it comes to kind of growing your business. And again, I'm kind of saying this for the new entrepreneur, the young entrepreneur out there that's trying to get started. I'd have like, do not judge yourself.
Whether it be good or bad, based upon the opinions of other people. And what I mean by good or bad is some people, they actually care a lot about how other people judge them because other people think that they're amazing. And people heap a lot of praise on them and say that they're smart and they're beautiful and they're strong and they're athletic and they're the best and they're special. And that judgment, not negative judgment, but positive judgment from other people is literally what they run their life through. The filter of all of people's opinions and judgment of them is the lens by which they live through and make decisions. And I would encourage you, when you're starting your business, when you're trying to become something, when you're trying to build something, make a product or service, when you're trying to make money, when you're trying to get ahead in life, if you're trying to dig yourself out of a hole of your family not having money, or you're trying to get started and get to the next level, stop caring what anybody else thinks about you, your business, how much money you make, the clothes that you wear, the car that you drive, in the house that you live in. The faster you can get to that point, the faster you can care less, not care nothing but care less about what other people think about your successes or your failures. The more free you are to actually chase the dreams you have in life, the sooner you can stop caring about what your aunt, your uncle, your cousin, your friend, your. Your brother, your sister, your grandpa, your grandma care about you, and they care about the way that you work or the way that you don't work, or the way you make money, or the way that you are trying to build your career and be successful and build something to again, help other people, and you're trying to make this world a better place. If those are your true intentions, your true desires, and you're actually trying to go for those things, if you know that your intentions are pure and you know that there is no deceit inside of you and your intentions are pure, you can go for the things that you want in life without caring what everybody else thinks. Because guess what, little secret here, Everybody has a different perspective. Everybody. So if you, if you're trying to make someone else happy, whether that be a family member, friend member, a peer, a spouse, whether that be as someone that is a professor, someone you look up to, a boss, whatever it is, if you're trying to make that person happy, I have a news breaking alert here. You're gonna make someone else unhappy because their perspective is different. So at the end of the day, if you're constantly trying to make somebody else happy or you're also constantly trying to make, you know, live life through their lens based upon their feedback to you of whether or not they like or dislike what you're doing, it's a moving target. Because one day they'll like what you're doing, the next day they won't, but then someone else will literally, vice versa, like the thing that they didn't like and dislike the thing that they did like. And so you have to filter out the things that other people think about you. Obviously, you want to make the relationships that your family and the close friends around you, you want those to be, you know, to be really, really beneficial. And you want those to be strong. And you don't want them to feel like they don't have any part in your life and all the rest of it. But you cannot allow their perspectives to dictate. Everything you do in your business, everything you do in your career, everything that you do in terms of the circumstance, decisions you make, your moral compass, those cannot be the things, because that leads to a lot of hurt down the road. It leads to a lot of just complete dissatisfaction with my business isn't big enough or it's too big. My house, my car is not as good as so and so's. They said I should hire people this way. They said I should do this. Who cares what other people think? You living your life, you're having the consequences of your decisions affect you. So why would you allow those opinions and advice and the thoughts of other people dictate where you're going and what your motives and objectives and goals are for you, your business, your life.
When you can disconnect.
From all the opinions of other people, whether good or bad, whether they encourage you and saying you're the best and you're so smart, you're so successful. And whatever you can disconnect from that, it'll allow you to go so much further. Because you're not constantly in this echo chamber of people telling you you're amazing. When people tell you amazing, it can lead you to kind of settling down. Like, okay, you know what? I'm fine. Like, I'm doing good. Everyone's saying I'm great. Everyone's saying I'm amazing. I'm going to settle here because I'm better than so and so I'm better than somebody else. You're comparing yourself, and we always talk about the other side, which is. Yes, which is totally true. Don't compare yourself to the people who are above you and that are going to make you depressed when you start comparing yourself to them. That's true. But you should also, when you hear good things about you don't become in this echo chamber of. Of positivity that people, you just think you are somehow invincible and you're so much better than everybody else. You're limiting your potential because you could potentially go so much further. But because you've been locked into this mindset of, oh, I'm better than everyone else, and they all tell me I'm so great, it literally inhibits you from going further. This is what keeps people who, like, win a Super bowl or win some incredible achievement or build an incredible business or, or make a bunch of money. This is what keeps him from repeating it over and over and over. And this is why we are so drawn into the greats like Tom Brady that can consistently perform year in and year out and win championship after championship after championship. Because most people, when they get to the precipice or they get the highest level of success, or they get some level of success in comparison or in relationship to their family or their close friend network and like, well, if I'm the most successful person in my group of 20 friends, then therefore that's like, I'm the best. I'm the best. Like, I hear it from everyone else. It's just an echo chamber of I am the better than everybody. And all when that happens and someone gets that level of success, they win a Super Bowl. It's very rare. They can repeat that again and again and again and become greater and, and better and achieve more and more and more because they start to sit back on their laurels. They start to think, you know what? I am good. And they actually start to believe all the things and the judgments of other people. So the same way that we want to block out the negative judgments of people that are going to doubt and that people are going to cast shade on your dreams and your ambitions, and we all want to be like, oh, yeah, like, yo, forget what they want, forget what they say. Like, just go for life. Go for, okay, great. But now when you're hearing that you are successful, that you are beautiful, that you have skills and you have talents, you also need to put the blinders on and focus on getting back or even superseding that level of success. Whether it be in your family, whether it be in your business, when it comes to money and investing, you've got to stay focused on what you can control. Talked about it like, you've got to focus on only the things you can control. And say laser light, focused on that. Say laser, like, focus on helping other people get to where they want to be at in life, where they feel most achieved, where they feel successful, where if you can get your employees to the next level financially, next place in their career, and you can actually help other people get to where they need to be at.
It unlocks so much opportunity for you. It unlocks so much fulfillment for you.
And if you can do all of those things, I truly believe you'll be set up for a better chance at success. Whether you're young, whether you're just getting started, or whether you're just itching, you're hungry to continue to grow. I really think those things will help. So I hope that was helpful. I'm Mike Andes. Watch some of the other videos and the other content I'd love to hear in your comments below. Another thing that really has helped you get through those low moments, stay focused, and allowed you to achieve success that maybe other people thought you'd never get to. I'm Mike Andes. See you later.
