Top Notch Lawn Care - Shop Tour

A conversational shop tour video hosted by Mike Andes (Top Notch Lawn Care) where the host and Mike walk through a lawn-care shop. They highlight a recently acquired Craftsman toolbox, personal items (a replica of the host's first house made by his grandfather, photos, keepsakes), camera gear, a workbench gearbox repair for a Walker mower, and a range of equipment (Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna trimmers; chainsaws and hedge trimmers; battery-powered tools including a DeWalt extending tool and an upcoming Milwaukee multi-tool). The tour closes with mention of compressor/air-hose equipment and general garage supplies.

All right, guys, what's up? We're here at the shop, and we're gonna do a little shop tour for. For Mike. So we'll start here with the. The Craftsman toolbox. Got this a few weeks ago. Absolutely love it.
I'm in.
I'm so much in love with this thing. This is literally my. My little baby.
So is these magnetic?
No, it just all sits in there. Impact ones.
Okay, cool.
So, yeah, very cool. Yeah. So much in love with it. You know the desk.
Pretty. Pretty simple desk. My. My walker sign from Countryside Lawn Care. He's up in New York. That's my pride and joy right there. But, yeah, nothing really special. Got my. My wife back when she was a pharmacy tech.
Wow.
Back when we just got out of high school. I've dated my wife all through high school. We're high school sweethearts.
Nice.
So our first Vegas trip. Just some stuff. Here's all the camera gear.
There's really no rhyme or reason for it. GoPro stuff down here. I just got the new Crane plus, but haven't really played with it a whole lot.
Was that the front cover of Lawn and Landscape, that magazine?
No, that's. That's a picture that Chant made. Chanting Bossa made of. He made that a couple years ago. Just kind of. Some of the YouTube guys.
Yep.
Pretty cool. They sent us all one.
Yeah. That's awesome.
So I always have that up in the shop.
Were you in the. The Lawn and Landscape. That one edition where they had, like, YouTubers and all that?
No.
No. Thanks for putting that out there, Mike.
Spot.
I learned. No. I literally didn't know anything about it came out. But, yeah, I'm happy for those guys.
It's pretty cool.
This here is something I've never talked about before, but this is a replica of my first house that I bought.
Really?
Me and my wife.
Locally.
Locally. It was actually north of Wichita in a little city called Park City. Huh. Okay. Right around the corner from Dennis Rader. You know who Dennis Rader is? The BTK killer. Oh, no need to look that up.
Okay.
Literally right around the corner. Oh, wow. Anyway, so the reason why this is so special to me is because my grandpa had made this for me. Huh. He made all of us grandkids a replica of our house. And you can see he did it out of quarter round and just old. Old pieces of wood he had laying around the house. Wow. And this was, you know, this is the color scheme and what my house looked like at that point. And he made one for all of us grandkids. And, you know, he's gone now, but this is. This is what I have. That's cool. So that's pretty cool. Workbench. Right now we're working on.
The gearbox for the walker. So I have a leak in one of my gaskets right here. So I'm going to take that off and I'm going to replace it.
Cool. See, that's one thing you can do, is do replacements and stuff and like, mechanic. I'm horrible.
Yeah.
Like, I can't even change the oil.
I'm not that good. You'll. You'll see a lot of my videos. I mess up a lot, but I do that because I think people, you know, I think it's good for people to learn how to do their own stuff. But this gearbox here goes on this walker right now. This would not cut any grass. So.
Did you just finish painting this, you said?
I did. I did.
How'd you do, like, because, like, you don't have to be really careful, like the grease joints and all that when you paint.
I just put a. You just put.
Tape it.
Tape over.
Got it.
Each one. I didn't want to clog them up. That's cool. Yeah, it's not the greatest, but it's better than what it was.
Yeah.
Yeah. So, you know, obviously these are yellow, but. Yeah. So the trimmers. I've got a few steel up here. Got an echo. Husqvarna. I've always been kind of a steel.
Guy.
But the echo was not a bad one. This one's not a bad one either. They're both pretty good, but I still prefer my steels.
Do you like those. Those rectangular edging heads we just started. One of the guys at our crew, he got us hooked on the star edging bits. Have you tried those before? Never. Yeah, I have two.
Yeah.
But he's like, hell bent on it.
So what's it called? Like the Golden Eagle or something?
I don't even know what it's called. So we got 10 of them. We're gonna try it out for a week and see.
Let me know. But is that for, like, thicker stuff or.
I don't know. He just said you don't need to switch it out with like using the line trimmer on beds. Like, it'll still make a defined enough line.
Oh, you're talking about the little, like the. Looks like a. What are they called?
Not the weed eater line.
No, I know. It's. There's a head that goes down there.
Yep. The metal ones.
Looks like a UFO type thing.
Yeah, exactly. It's star.
Yes.
Yeah. And so, I don't know, we'll see how it goes.
Yeah, I know a few guys that use it. And you put that, basically you put that edge right on. Right on your edge and your line will still track. Yep. Tracks better. Yeah. Yeah. See that, guys? No, I, I actually prefer just using the dedicated edge of myself.
Right.
But yeah. So yeah, the other walker. This is all the chainsaws, the hedge trimmers and stuff that we got.
Do you now, do you actually like the battery operation for like chainsaws and things?
I do for certain things.
Yeah.
For certain things. The hedge trimmers are really good. Chainsaws are not bad for doing little cleanups. And you got like, you know, saplings that might be, you know.
Very good for that type of stuff. Obviously you're not going to be cutting down a big oak tree with this.
Right.
But still not bad at all.
How long will this last, like, for a hedge. Hedge trimmer?
It lasts a while.
Really?
I probably saved 45 minutes to an hour. Usually when I go do hedges now I take this one.
Okay.
This is the one I usually take, so. Huh. But yeah, I really like them. And.
See. Yeah, this one here too. This is dewalt. This kind of extends out. Yeah. Pretty cool. But. But I think the battery powered stuff is good for, you know, I don't think like the trimmers and things like that aren't quite there yet.
Have you tried using those backpack ones from Steel where you put the backpack battery system on?
No.
For like the weed eater. Yeah.
Yeah.
It's still, it's still a hassle though, because they're heavy.
Yeah. Milwaukee is sending me their mo, Their new multi tool here pretty soon. It's supposed to be kind of like the copy system steel. Yeah. It's all electric. Huh. So. But it has all the different attachments. So they're going to be sending me one here in a couple weeks. I think they're actually going to be sending me two sets. I'm going to be giving one away. So if you're interested in that, you can tune in here sometime shortly.
Awesome.
But yeah, the only other thing we got left is.
Just kind of the air compressor type area here. Got the hose reel. My air compressor is actually out there. I just ran the line down here.
Oh, wow.
So, you know, nuts and bolts and stuff, all that type of good stuff and just kind of cleaners and hey, cool. You know, just basic garage stuff.
Awesome.
