We're Finally Building the HQ We Needed 5 Years Ago

In this informal vlog, Mike Andes gives the first behind‑the‑scenes tour of the new headquarters being constructed for Augusta Lawn Care and HomeWorks. He walks viewers through the construction site, explaining the layout of shops, office spaces, a media studio, break rooms, training areas, and amenities such as a basketball hoop and an orange‑themed kitchen. Mike discusses regulatory hurdles (wetlands and storm‑water permits), parking limitations, load‑bearing wall constraints, and design decisions like drop ceilings, glass walls, and sound‑proofing for the media studio. He highlights how the space will accommodate current staff (28‑30 agents) and future growth, and he invites the audience to follow his $1 million‑in‑1‑year business challenge in Texas. The tone is conversational, enthusiastic, and occasionally frustrated by logistical constraints.

We are building a brand new headquarters building for Augusta Lawn Care and HomeWorks. I have not shown the management team inside at all. Today I'm going to be showing them for the very first time, and I want to bring you along for the ride. So we're going to take a little field trip from our current office about 5 minutes away and go check out the construction site. Have a drone just drone following you around. That'd be the best $30 grand I ever spent in my life. Oh, I am so lost. Our L&I claim of the year. This is like what we needed 5 years ago. We're just trying to fit inside of it. So annoying. So back in the back there, that's where they're putting the whole sewage or the stormwater. But all this red stuff is the wetlands, so we can't go in there. Basically what we're gonna do is give them money so we can take out that wetlands. That's essentially what it is. They're like, oh, conservation. It's like, no, you just want more money. But this is the stormwater area. Eventually we'll get this all taken out and we'll have this space. But like right now they won't let us touch anything. Basically it's like get permit, get occupancy, and then we can do whatever we want. So this is the Bellingham shop, this side. This will be like sectioned off 'cause this is just like a mechanical room for the tank. This will be for the guys actually come in, then there'll be windows for them to see in. Very big shop space, Nick. Dude. Tim was like, do you think we'll have enough room if we take away the— No way. Yeah, there will be stairs that go here up to the top so media team could get around the back. What's up, Tim? All right, this will be— they'll have their own shop in here and their own access point so they won't have to come through the office. That way this will all be vinyl and so they can track mud in here. Bathroom of theirs. This is the Bellingham shop. All right, slide through here. Morning. So yeah, this is like the homework area is going to be over there. Sick. Those are not going to be doors, they're just going to be walkways. I wanted to take out that wall but cannot because of the load-bearing wall. So it's just gonna be like 2 big windows and a random doorway. Yes. With a big long nothingness across the way. I don't know what this office is gonna be necessarily. Kind of a conference room-ish. Bathrooms and then break room. This is where right now you can fit 28 to 30 agents down below here. Here? Okay. But it would be Very tight. So right now, technically, it's going to be Homeworks over there, probably Home Service CPA, and then probably eventually Nick and Leigh. But plenty of room to grow. Yeah, yeah. All open concept. Yeah, this is all open. Yeah. But yeah, I'm thinking Homeworks along that. Yep. And then as we expand, just having desks right next to the windows. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know where Nick and Leigh would go, if they want to go here or not. But you could have this whole big old office together. Do you want to? We're gonna get a basketball hoop. You'll be hooping while you're on the phone. Yeah, this is orange kitchen. So this is gonna have orange cabinets. We established that the other day. Now is most of the MVM works? It is little. It is little. That's actually a big reason why we can't really bring 30 people over here. Well, actually, it's the parking lot. Technically speaking, the parking lot is the limiting factor to how many people we can get in this office. But. a space perspective, you can get a lot of desks in here. That's right, little go-kart's in here. And then here, there's still stairs. Cardio for the— oh, whoa, they did put— oh, I am so lost. I see some people knocking their head here. I'm thinking you could like start— do a chin-up, do a chin-up. Look at this guy. So then this is going to be a for the catering. So they'll have stoves and kitchen stuff so we can feed the owners, or if we do workshops or whatever. 2 bathrooms here that are private. So these 2 doors will go in. This will be like the owner area for owner training workshops, stuff like that. There's so much space in here. Yeah. So probably doing the projector up here, what I'm thinking, which you will need to know because you will be setting this up without me. But yeah, then those will go down there as well. That way the owners, there's a separate entrance over there. They don't have to go through the office. They can just come in those doors, come up here and they're good to go. And so lots of light too. I really like all the views coming in. Yeah. Fortunately, you never get direct light coming in this way though until sunset. And even sunset, this hill blocks it. So you never really get direct. This is not going to be a doorway. It's going to be a wall that we are going to take out after we get— we're going to take it out. So this is, this is a firewall. You, you can't have any doorways. Yeah, well, we're going to make it a, like, a wall, but then we're going to bust through it for the media team, cuz I don't need this whole space for a studio. Yeah. So what I'm thinking— I'm not tied to this— I'm thinking like building a wall here Over for like all of our desks along there. Also, that would then make the studio with no windows. Yeah. And then do glass, do a wall here with glass so the whole setup could be outside looking into the studio. And we still have plenty of room to do everything we want with the studio. Then too, that would be like a private corridor that would go back to there, which would then be the break room for the media team. So instead of my living area, that'd just become break room for— And then we have the closets for the media storage. This is the— this is gonna be stairs going down there, but I've already talked to Tim, who is the one guy down there, the framing guy. Oh, okay. He's like, oh yeah, we can just frame it out really fast, put a nice glass so the guys could see in. 'Cause like right now it's like weird with the curtain. But then in here, this would be the media team like break area. There's a whole kitchen in here. This will be a kitchen, and this could be like storage. Also, that room's going to be empty 99% of the time, so for like meetings, one-on-ones, you could use the owner room. That's true, that's true. This area is going to have a drop ceiling. Oh, cool. Because the studio, I didn't want the high ceiling. So all this area will have a drop ceiling that way. Second building will look exactly mirror to this one? No, no, not in terms of the interior. Maybe the exterior, but not the interior. So you were saying the drop— so drop ceilings here. On this side. There, it would just be like— All the way up. Oh, it would— Yeah. They might, they might do drop ceiling on this side. Yeah. They might do drop ceiling on this side, but I know that for sure is open. I feel like the room for training is like gonna be excessively large. Come on, dude. What are we gonna like— What do you think? Do some groups? This guy is going back from ACQ, bro. He's gonna sell like— How about this set? How's it going, Tim? Good to see you, man. Hey, real quick question. There's two walls down there in your long. Yeah. You want them there? I was talking with Tim this morning about that from Credo. Yes, sir. If they're not load-bearing, we can take them out. Yeah, we can take them out. I put them there temporary just to hold up that long wall. Yeah, yeah. And then I remembered a conversation that said somebody liked them there, so just leave them there for now. I say just take them out. Take them out? Yeah. All right, no problem. Okay, is Tim here? Do you know Tim from Credo? He should be back shortly. Okay. Okay. Yeah, I'd say take them out unless you hear from him, but I was texting him this morning. Okay. All right, appreciate it. Oh, this is media here, but then I think they'll add a wall to make like a soundproof studio. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll see. The best view in the whole building, they're gonna black out the window. Well, originally— yeah, no, you're 100% right, dude. Well, originally, Zach, if you wanted to veto this, you can. Like, we could make this not the media and they do it downstairs. We have tons of room because, you know, what we could do is we could start with that. And then build this out later, 'cause we don't have any lack of space down there. Exactly. It's more space than we have now, but like the depth on the sets is always nice to have. So this would be like phenomenal for one set. Okay. 2 would be— Stretch. Yeah. You know? Okay, well then we could leave this. Yeah, the more space we had for filming would be cool. Okay, then let's put them downstairs. We got, we got tons of room. Yeah, we could. So we put 'em down there. And then this is all— And then this is all studio. It's probably the biggest variable is like, where do you want your media team? Yeah, where would you guys go? I'm not going to be here, so you guys are going to have to figure it out. Where are you going to be when you come back? Are you planning on working out of this building, or— I could stay at that, like my current spot, and then just have a spot to drop in here. I just need a desk. I could be up here. This is like what we needed 5 years ago. I know. So now it's like we're just trying to fit inside of it. It's so annoying. Going to throw this out there, what if you and I just set up up here? Then you have a, you have a basketball hoop right there, bro. Dude, I go right here. You go right here. If anybody need us, they just come up the stairs. Okay. Well, if you guys want to be up here, that's fine. You have lots of space to walk around and pace during your calls. Get a wireless mic. Just be like. Get a webcam that tracks. Yeah, yeah. You'd be like back here. All the way back. Or you could have like a like a stick with a camera right here. Yeah. So you just walk. Have a drone, just drone follow you around. Thank you so much for watching.
