Yeah, this guy's something else.
Today we're gonna be breaking down a hand that is making the round for me. This is the top three hands I've
ever seen a poker.
In my opinion, Keating kind of might just be a low key gangster genius here. How did Alan Keating put in over a thousand big blinds with just third pair? I don't think I can do justice with an analysis to this call because this call is on another dimension. Who knows what's gonna happen?
Alan is awesome. He's a poker player that's here at Poker Go studio quite a bit and he's one of my favorites. He's super nice and he always gives me a big hug.
I see him as the James Bond of poker. He's mysterious, classy, sort of heroic in a way. But there's also this darker side. He knows when he needs to be great and should be great and he also knows when he needs to splash and just be the classiest degenerate in the building.
Tonight it's a brand new group of high stakes poker welcoming you back to Las Vegas in Aria Resort and Casino.
I'm coming off of a high from day one. I took Peter's left leg out with the 97 and I'm coming for the right. But today we have a new variable, Rick Solomon. I've heard Rick's absolutely fearless at the poker table and if you get us both at the same table, I mean, who knows what's going to happen.
Well, looky here.
What a pleasure to see you all. How are you doing? Fancy seeing you guys here. Here I am, I'm coming in late. They've already played a few hands without me and I get to the table, I see these hands get turned over and it's monster hands, pocket pairs like kings and queens, jacks just kind of takes me back because if the standard for winning a pot is a good hand, then I guess I'm in trouble. That makes me feel good about my raise. I don't really care what I have in this situation. I'm just trying to play hand, right?
I don't believe the seven deuce bounty game is working. No, it is clearly working for Keating.
Raising with seven deuce. You raise, you try to bluff and show the hand and have a little chuckle.
And we can see Keating throwing 15 some odd into the abyss.
I'm out in the streets just bluffing with seven high, thankful he leads into me because if I bet another 50, 75,000 on the river, he's going to call me, right? So I saved a Little money. I don't know why it's not even funny. Even though you think it's going to be funny, I guess it was a little bit funny.
Vinny is one of the sharks on South Africa's version of Shark Tank.
I like playing with really great players, and the best players play high stakes. So I want to learn and I want to play with those guys. So this is Vinnie. We haven't had a lot of time to play with him since he's new to all of us at the table. He to have a bad habit of revealing his cards to the table. And you'll see why that's a bad idea as the game plays out.
Nick, how. How do you play against guys like this?
Ooh, this is a good hand. This is a good hand. By this time, we've all gotten a little bit comfortable at the table. And Peter goes for a big bluff.
If you're taking a shot or you feel under rolled, which Peter clearly isn't, by the way. 55 dimes to go. Right off the heels stack. Vinnie's in. Another lady on the turn.
Look at that.
This isn't an easy spot for Vinnie holding onto the kings. He was beat by a bunch of hands, but he also beats a lot of hands.
Oh, I'm gonna do a monster lay down.
That is a monster lay down, my friend.
Okay.
Oh, boy.
Wow. Kind of a good example of why you don't want to show your hand, because now people are gonna change how they play you in the future because you showed you can fold a big hand like kings. Show it. Oh, my. What a buck.
Wow.
Wow. Now the whole table sees blood in the water.
Top pair for Vinnie. I would imagine this one's done.
You imagined wrong.
Well, Rick, right on cue.
585 dimes in. Maybe he remembers Vinnie folding kings against Peter.
You know, I understand what Salomon's doing here, and I really like it. Had Vinnie not shown those two kings that he folded earlier to Peter, I doubt that Solomon would have went for this play here. Sometimes showing your hands can cost you in ways you don't understand in the moment. I fold. Jack, ace is good.
Run it.
Tricky part here is when he shows this jack seven that he folds, it's the same as showing the pocket kings that he fold. It wasn't the perfect hand, but the people watching will say, oh, maybe I can bluff him in the next hand. So I would expect more pressure because of that. The biggest wildcard here is Rick. He's an animal. He can put in any amount as A bluff as a draw, anything. He doesn't care. This is a great hand. It's really dynamic. You've got five good hands.
Okay, right away. Here we go.
Boom, boom.
Solid. Yeah.
This might go five ways for 60 dimes.
Wow, look at this. This is exactly why Rick is dangerous. You could have just called and played these jacks passively, but he's gonna pump him up and he's gonna try to win a big pot.
We know Peter's not going anywhere.
Excellent.
He's made a quarter million dollar pot pre flop. He's got two jacks and the only card higher than his in there is an ace and two of us got it. So he's just making a big pot.
Well, spades for Peter.
This is a great bet from rick. He's betting 150. He's not taking his foot off the gas. He's charging draws. He's making it hard to play a pair like an eight or you know, pocket nines or something like that. I wouldn't know what to do with Peter's hand or if I had a worse pair, I don't think I could fold.
Huge one brewing right off the bat. Okay, let's go.
Floor deuce on all in potts over a million. I don't know what he's saying but it sounds like Jesus, what the heck do I do now?
Perhaps we could consider folding. But with the duck he is pushing them all forward. Ayyjayy.
1.452 in the middle in Peter's spot. You just have to call. I mean you might have the best hand and if you don't, you can make the best hand.
Man. New heights for high stakes poker. That's the biggest pot yet.
What? Flush draw for him. Yeah, I already knew that when he says yeah, I knew that. Look how confident he is. A lot of people would be worried what hand Peter has, but Solomon sees through it all. He makes a big pot with the best hand. Look at these dudes. I mean there's $1.4 million in the pot. Each card represents $700,000. If Peter doesn't hit Ace, a two or a spade on that card, he loses. Here Rick gets the first 700,000. Let's see if he could do it again on the second river.
Is Rick Solomon going to win the biggest pot in high stakes poker history? He's not.
Wow. And Peter gets that much needed spade.
It's a chop by the way.
That's a big chop. They're chopping up 50 dimes from two other players.
So, yeah, true.
Nice little profit there for the both of them.
I love how Rick played this hand. He played it aggressive and got a call from a worse hand. He made a $1.4 million pot with a pair of jacks. And he was right. That was great play. And of course, Peter tips the 500. Almost like, thanks for getting me out of that. Right. Like, I'm just glad to get my money back.
Ace check for Solomon.
Alrighty.
Rick raises here, pre flop. I don't really pay a lot of mind to what he has. I just have a hand that I like. I'm gonna re raise him, see what happens.
All right. Rick said
seven for Ken.
This turn is interesting. I. I have a pair, and he has a good ace high. And I'm betting the turn, almost feeling him out. And he's doing the same. He's calling the turn, feeling me out. The nuance of this hand is that which version of each other is showing up today. He's got his antenna up. You see that?
Rick's got that death stare.
Looks like Alan considering going for value with just the seven.
If this was later on in the day, I would have bet that river for, you know, to get called by worse than a seven check.
Okay.
But I also don't know what mood he's in. So if he were to raise me back and I bet that river be a really tough situation, I could make a big mistake. When you're talking about the biggest psychos in poker, it's basically me and him. You can throw some names in there, but this is a showdown if we want it to be. Here we go. Rick raises ivory raise again, pre flop, both times with nine high. I'm trying to play a pot with Rick. I mean, already there's 124,000 in this pot.
Spades working for Rick. Middle pair for Allen. Already a buck 25 in there.
Half of me is saying that this is fun. The other half is saying, why are you doing this?
Keating bets 45,000, and 11 seconds later, Rick raises to 245,000.
Wow. This is what's so crazy about when you got two lunatics in there. You can have any coordination with the board, and all of a sudden you have a million dollar pot and me re raising Rick here. It's just another example of me kind of instigating, looking for a fight with him. And, you know, he's looking for a fight with me too. So it's fair play. I got bus.
Yeah, that's true.
Vinny said to me, he said, Is it aces versus king? That said, it's like Jackson, a flush draw. See, this is so great. Vinny thinks it's aces versus kings. And when we turn over, it's a bad flush draw and a bad pair. Everything here is okay.
Over
everything is a cry. Welcome to the party, pal.
There might be two different games going on right now. Well, the good news for you is I got a nine. And to keep things interesting, we're gonna run the board twice. Good luck, brother. Wow, this pot's 50. 50. Rick needs a jack, a spade. But a nine won't help him. This game is a different game altogether. When that jack hit, I knew the first run I was dead and I was getting punished for playing hands. I know I shouldn't be playing.
Keating now drawing to a six.
Thought my discipline would be rewarded, but apparently not. No spade, no jack or Rick wins it all. And thankfully this second set goes my way.
Chop it off till the end.
Okay? Poor Rick just can't close a deal.
Look how much Rick wants that pot, right? He hits the jack on the first one and he's salivating to scoop the second board. And I probably feel the same way Peter did when he just got his money back.
I think they respect each other. End of the day, Rick and Alan, similar styles.
What Rick and I have in common is we're both playing on just feel how we're playing is not in a book. Because of that there's a mutual respect. I expect today's game to be pretty wild. So I think the chips are going
to be flying today.
I think it's going to be an action packed game. Gavri's a ton of fun to play with. He gambles it up and he's a great personality. Here's a hand where Gavri has three threes and I need a five to make a straight wheel draw. Working for Keating, I'm just being stubborn here. I have a fine hand, you know, looking for a five for a straight, but nothing to write home about
30,000 recovery. All right, okay.
We can see Keating really does not go quietly.
It's possible I have the best hand, but probably not still hit a five. But I shouldn't be doing this. I know I shouldn't be doing it. This is my favorite situation, right. He bet 70,000 and I think he only has 50,000 behind. And I'm not calling, but you know, part of me wants to test him. Right?
No.
Ayyjayy.
He puts him there. The ace of spades, deuce of hearts.
I like this guy a lot. It's so fun.
If he calls and loses his hand, the gates are open, right? Instead I double them up and he can relax a little bit. Now I go in the blender.
The three of diamonds is so key. It's such a good card to have. He does pay it off. Thought he was beat. We'll see the good news. Ayyjayy.
Oh good.
It's usually not a bluff when they only raise for a 50k. That's what I was thinking. You think you're playing the hand in a fun way, but 60 seconds later you're down $175,000. You know, I have ace king against airball here. I'm gonna re raise and try to make a big pot.
$23,000 from Keating. D.H. king.
He's a little bluff me up.
No flush draw. Working for airball. Keating still with technically the best hand.
25,000. Nikki makes the call.
I'm betting 25,000 now. 90,000. I don't know what he has, but I'm just trying to make him fold it.
90 dimes.
Look at this.
Oh my gosh. He just puts me all in. I mean really nice.
Shmerpal.
He might be bluffing me. I didn't really even think about it. I guess I just gave him credit. It's hard to call with an ace king there. And that makes it how he played this hand. Really good. You ever have that voice in your hand? It's like, please don't do this, don't do this. And you ignore it all and you throw it out. I had it a couple minutes against you.
A couple minutes.
I mean that's what the voice is saying to me. This hand. Bluff me, huh? I have a flush draw. No. Yeah. He shows the ace of spades and expects me to know that. You know, of course he must have had a flush draw there. But I guess I didn't really calculate in my mind why that would be. At the time I just felt like he was messing with me. I shot myself in the foot with the Gavri hand and now I'm getting outplayed and I'm just off my game.
You know, some people might think this is fake. That money is coming directly out of his bank account and put on the table. This is all real.
I really need to hit a hand. Oh boy. By this time it's kind of the writing is on the wall that things aren't going my way, but I've got 98 suited. It's kind of a good looking hand. You know, maybe we'll make something calls.
Let's go to the flop.
Oh boy. Action flop.
I flop a club flush draw and I'm gonna chase it. I have to chase it.
That's right. Yeah.
This is a dream for Rick. Can he hold off the club? So far, yes.
80,000.
By the way, this has not been a great start for Keating.
No.
Can he find lightning in a bottle?
All in.
All in.
I'm playing desperate. The club misses. My stack is dwindling. I've felt this before and if I don't change anything I could drive home down 2 million tonight. I said a kings.
Really?
Kind of whispered his hand there to Keita instead of kings salad.
Look who's back. Back again. This here is the biggest pot in high stakes poker history.
Yeah. 1.41 point be the biggest end something else this game.
I bet you didn't see that coming.
