A short YouTube talk (by Neel Dhingra) advising creators to "give before you ask": provide valuable information, context, and case studies before requesting a sale. The speaker credits Gary Vaynerchuk’s "jab, jab, jab, right hook" idea as an influential framing and recommends delaying the sales pitch to increase conversions.
So I think most people in content creation in any type of format are just selling in some way or shape or form. They're not really serving. And if you could flip it around, you'll have the opportunity to make the sale, just delay it. And that's another thing I learned from Gary was, you know, he takes it really far where he talks about, you know, jab, jab, jab, right hook. I think he throws many jabs and then hooks. But I think it is a super timeless concept of just like giving before you ask. Even in a simple thing where you want to sell something online, if you can give some context and some case study and then ask for the business, it works exponentially better than if you just come out there like most people do and try and ask for the sale. So we try and incorporate that in everything. Just giving information first that's valuable before you ask for anything.
