Short monologue (YouTube video) in which the speaker expresses a personal desire for home prices to fall so they can buy properties, explains why widespread expectation of a crash reduces its likelihood, and notes moral discomfort that others are misled and missing buying opportunities. The speaker mentions having already benefited from a recent pullback by purchasing a deal.
You know what? I wish home prices would crash. I'm actually in a great position to be able to take advantage of it if they did crash. And so there's nothing more from a personal net worth perspective that would help me than if the prices came down and I could buy up all these properties. The problem is there are so many other people who think the exact same thing. And when you have everybody saying the same thing, it actually makes it less likely to happen. Anytime there's an extreme event like an actual crash, the way that happens is because people aren't prepared for it. If everybody, including Wall street and everybody with money is prepared for something to happen, it's actually a very low likelihood that that event to happen. So personally, I was able to take advantage of the pullback in prices and I picked up a great deal. But I feel bad because there are so many people who are misled to believe that this extreme event is coming and they're missing out on the opportunity to take advantage of buying that property or buying that first rental property.
