Speaker (Neel Dhingra) describes moving away from buying internet leads (e.g., Zillow, realtor.com) after finding it unsustainable. He learned to create videos and build a personal brand over ~two years, which produced audience growth, business opportunities, and rapid scaling of revenue.
We were doing a lot of Internet leads. Like, we would buy leads from, like, Internet companies and Zillow and realtor.com, so we'd buy these leads, call all the people, close a couple deals, get paid, buy the deeds, close the deals, get paid. And it was just a circle. And as soon as I stopped doing it, I would make zero money. So I was like, at some point, like, there's gotta be some better way to do this business. Like, how do these big brands do it? How do people who are killing it do it? And I realized that they have what's called a personal brand. I started learning how to put out videos, so I started doing more of it. And then as I got better, got even more opportunities. Two years into doing it, kind of like figured out my thing, and now I started do better. And then I saw this hockey stick growth. So I was able to build my personal brand, my audience, all my business followed, and I had huge opportunities.
