Neel Dhingra describes using existing ticket-holders to amplify event promotion: he asked attendees to share that they were coming and to bring a friend (with an incentive), which led to selling the remaining tickets within 48 hours. The clip emphasizes leveraging current customers as evangelists rather than only pursuing new prospects.
Questions this video answers
Within 48 hours.
We had an event. We were trying to get more people to come to this thing, and I kind of hit a wall with promoting it organically. And then the ads worked, but not really. But organic only got me so far. And I was like, you know what? There's all these people coming. What if they just brought somebody? Like, what if everybody who's already got a ticket to this brought one friend? We'd be full. Like, we would hit our goal. So I just asked everybody in the group, gave them an incentive to share the fact that they're going to this event and bring a friend, and we ended up selling the rest of the tickets within the next 48 hours. So it's kind of cool. Like, a lot of times we're looking for the next new customer. But what about the customers you already have, Many of whom, if doing a good job, are evangelists? They'll help you. They actually want to. They're already reading your emails. They're already watching your videos. So what can we do to get them to speak? Because I noticed that type of connection is the fastest.
