Short YouTube monologue (Neel Dhingra) advising creators to avoid conversational interview framing for social feeds and instead speak directly to the camera as if addressing a single viewer. The concrete hack: immediately give clear value and look into the lens (e.g., 'I'm going to tell you the most important thing I learned...') to increase engagement from strangers in feeds.
When you do interviews, this is a great hack. You can have capture the conversation. So me and you could have an interview. We could capture that and we could cut up and put it up. Problem is, most of the content today on Social is shown to strangers that have never seen you. So me and you be talking. We know that the conversation is valuable, but in the feed, someone's like, yo, this is just some weird dudes. There's a nerd with glasses talking to this guy. Like, what? Who are these guys? I'm gone. And so if you're not known, the hack to get known is to just give value. And so if you. If I look right at you and say, I'm going to tell you the most important thing I learned at the ARIA conference today. Like, this is going to change your business. Like, bro, tell me, like, what. What's next? So I found that when I looked directly at the camera and talked to it, like, it was one person. I'm going to tell you. I'm not just like, hey, guys, what's up, man? I'm at the ARIA conference. Super fun day, man. I've lost everybody already. So just go straight into it. Speak to the one viewer. You'll get way more engagement. So that was my hack to get around it.
