In this episode of the BBHC podcast, host Speaker A interviews Nick Howarth about the role of dietary supplements in achieving health and weight‑loss goals. They begin by defining supplements as additions that complete or enhance a diet, noting that modern store‑bought foods often lack sufficient nutrients due to long shelf lives, pesticide exposure, and overall nutrient decline over recent decades. The conversation moves to the challenges consumers face when sourcing supplements—confusing health‑store advice, low‑quality ingredients like rice flour, maltodextrin, or added sugar that can negate benefits. To address these issues, BBHC has created its own organic, precisely dosed supplement line. They walk through several flagship products, explaining each one's primary function and claimed health benefits: ashwagandha for stress, focus and blood‑sugar control; betaine HCl for stomach acid and nutrient absorption; organic Ceylon cinnamon for antioxidants, blood‑sugar regulation and inflammation; DIM for hormone balance and estrogen reduction; organic kelp for iodine, female hormone balance, digestion and weight loss; milk‑thistle extract for liver health and detox; selenium for thyroid support (T3/T4 conversion); and potassium citrate for blood‑pressure, nervous‑system function, blood‑sugar stability, kidney health, and electrolyte balance. The hosts also preview upcoming BBHC products: a sugar‑free electrolyte drink designed for travelers, athletes, and hot climates, and a green shake powder (with a capsule version) aimed at people on the move who lack kitchen facilities. The episode concludes with a teaser for a future client‑success interview and a call to subscribe.

Welcome to BBHC's podcast, episode 11. Today we're talking about supplements and why they are important when you're trying to get healthy and lose weight. So Nick, what are supplements really?
Well, supplements, the definition of a supplement is something added to something else in order to complete it or to enhance it. That's really what a supplement is. It's something that supplements, it adds to something that is already existing.
Right. So—
Yeah, I mean, you know, on our program, you know, you eat a lot of vegetables, and vegetables have certain things in them that you that your body needs and that it needs to use to get healthy. However, these things, if they are not in the right amount in these vegetables, then you're going to have to supplement it. So, in order to get the correct amount of these types of nutrients, you'd probably have to eat a bucket of vegetables every day, you know, to get the right amount.
Mm-hmm.
So, that's why a supplement is needed.
And also, these days, the foods that are in the stores are not as nutrient as they used to be, or they've been on the shelf for very long, or they've got pesticides on them, all sorts of things.
Yeah, even the good food. Even the good food is not as nutritious as it was 30, 40, 50 years ago.
Right, right.
So, yeah. I mean, you know, we decided to start our own supplement range. Do you want to tell us why you did that?
Yes, yes. So in our program, we usually give the person a list of supplements, you know, specifically for him because it's a personalized program. And we say, okay, go get this one, this one in these amounts. And then we send them off and they go to the health shop, to the health shop owner, Tries to help and tell them, oh no, no, you shouldn't take this, you should take this.
Yeah.
Or they just go online and they buy something, but then they don't look at the ingredients in the supplement, and sometimes they put the weirdest stuff in, like rice flour or maltodextrin.
Or sugar.
Or sugar, which is basically going to nullify whatever you're putting in your body. So yes, so our supplement range is organic, it's in the right amounts, and it doesn't have anything else in it other than the supplement that you need.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, all right. Yeah, so why don't you tell us a little bit about these bottles that you have in front of you over there?
Yes, so these are some of our supplements. So this one is ashwagandha, and ashwagandha is really good to relieve stress and anxiety. It even lowers blood sugar, and it sharpens your focus and your memory. So this is a good one.
That's what I need.
Yes. What were we talking about again?
Who are you?
This one is bee tang. hydrochloric, and it's very good to promote stomach acid levels.
Yes.
So we actually use this one for people who travel and who can't, you know, have the right type of food that they need. So they just take one of these to help them digest the food, and it actually helps your body absorb nutrients better. So it's good. This one is cinnamon. It's organic Ceylon cinnamon. Yeah, the one that you can't have on the programme. No, but it's very rich in antioxidants. It helps with blood sugar control and it actually reduces inflammation. So it's a very, very important one. The last one I'm talking about is DIM, which is short for D-indolylmethane. But this one is very good to balance hormones.
Lucky you're having ashwagandha, so your focus is better anyway.
So it balances hormones, it improves your mood, and it also promotes weight loss. These are great ones.
Yeah, and also doesn't it remove estrogen?
Yes, absolutely, excess estrogen in the body.
Yeah.
Mine? Yeah.
So I have kelp, organic kelp, and kelp contains iodine. It's very good for balancing especially female hormones, and it also aids in digestion and aids in weight loss. So kelp is definitely something that every woman should be taking. Then the next one is milk thistle. We use the milk thistle extract. which is basically the real concentrated extract of milk thistle. Milk thistle assists with liver disorders and bladder disorders. The bladder gets blocked up, the liver gets fatty, the liver starts— I mean, the liver is literally the center of the universe as far as the body goes.
Yes.
It has to be healthy. This cleans out the liver, it helps the liver burn fat off it, it helps the liver detoxify, and it supports the liver in its function. So, it's extremely, extremely good and it has so many other benefits. Then the next one is selenium. Selenium is used to maintain or support a healthy thyroid. A lot of people have a thyroid problem, you see people with double chin, thyroid problem, get fat all over their bodies and that's a slow thyroid. Selenium helps with that, it helps with the T3 and the T4 cells. or T3 to convert to T4 cells, and it starts to speed up the thyroid the way it should be. So, that's why we use selenium.
We need more acrobatics to understand what T3 and T4 are.
Yeah, well, we can get into that. You can have a look on Google about that. I'm not going to get into that now. So, it's really the thyroid, what are the hormones that the thyroid excretes. And then we've got potassium citrate, which is probably one of the most One of the main things that we use on our program, and you back off, you find this product in the health stores in the right amount. You've got the 500mg capsules, you don't find that in health stores, you get like 99mg capsules, and you'd have to literally, you get 99mg capsules and you get 90 of them or 180 of them in a bottle, they're little tiny little things like this, and it would take you 2 or 3 days to finish that bottle.
Yes, because your body needs about 4,700 milligrams a day.
A day of potassium citrate.
You're not going to get it from your food.
Yeah, so potassium citrate, it maintains a healthy blood pressure, it helps with the nervous system, so it gets the nervous system working properly, or it assists with it. There are other things that assist with it too, but it's one of those things. And it stabilizes blood sugars, and it also helps clean out the kidneys and clean out calcium deposits, the citrate. And because of the citric acid in it, the body recognizes it as food and it absorbs it a lot better. Potassium has to be taken, especially with today's diet, it has to be taken for quite some time. It could be up to 3 months before your body gets saturated with the correct amount of potassium in it. People go to the doctor and he tests their blood and he says, oh, you've got high potassium levels. It means absolutely nothing. The potassium has to go into the cells. That's where it counts.
Yeah, yeah.
In the blood, it really just might put a bit of strain on the kidneys, but that's why we use the Cycrit, because it doesn't put the strain on the kidneys. So yeah, those are our supplements.
Some good ones. Tell us about the new DDHT supplements that's in the future.
In the future, yes. On the horizon. Yeah, so we're going to— we've got this— we're developing a sugar-free electrolyte drink which will have all of your main electrolytes that you need and also your trace minerals. And once we have that put together, it's really going to be a great product because, you know, you can, especially if you're also traveling or you're a sportsman or if you live in a hot environment.
And it's very difficult to find a good one that's sugar-free and has the electrolytes in the right ratio.
Because you just don't find sugar-free electrolyte drinks anywhere. You get all these famous brands and they have sugar in them, which literally pushes the electrolytes out of your body. So this one's not going to do that and it's going to taste good and you can give it to children, adults can take it. It's going to be really good. I'm really looking forward to that completing.
Yes.
We also have a green shake powder, like, if you're gonna— that we're busy developing at the moment. And we also want to put that in capsules for, again, for people who just don't have the time to make a shake.
Yeah, traveling, or maybe on the road, you know, some places it's very difficult to get the ingredients to make your own shake, or you don't have a blender because you're traveling, or you're a single person or whatever.
Some people don't have the things you need in your house. You've got like one suitcase for all your supplements and your blender and everything, and another suitcase with your clothes in that don't fit you anymore.
Yes.
So yeah, I mean, that's going to help a lot because it's something that people struggle with. Like, there's many people out there on the road, they're doing things, they're not at home, so they don't have the luxury to just walk over to the kitchen And make this stuff work. That's what our little green shake is going to be like. So then we're going to have a new, um, podcast coming up soon. What's that about?
Yeah, so that's going to be an interview with another one of our clients that are very, very happy with the results and did very well and wants to share, you know, the wins and successes in that.
Fantastic.
So yeah, so make sure not to miss that. Subscribe to our podcast channel, and we'll see you next time.
