All right, okay, I just started recording.
Okay, yeah, cool, I got the notification.
Okay, okay, lucky on you, man. Looking—
I can't complain.
Looking, looking slim.
Yeah, ah yeah, it's a big difference. Yeah, okay, I'm amazed, really.
Yeah, that's awesome, man. I'm so chuffed for you. Even even your your skin. Yeah, like your your skin.
Yeah, I had marks on my legs. Yeah, yeah, I had marks on my legs.
I think you remember when we spoke initially. Yeah. Even that is starting to go away. Wow.
I mean, it's it's quite amazing the difference, and it's just food.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, just food.
I'm really happy.
Yeah, that's awesome, man.
So tell me, yeah, okay. No, what I was saying, and it wasn't effort. It wasn't, it didn't feel like you're on a diet. It wasn't effort. Some of the things you miss, like bread and shit like that. But I mean, on the whole, it's, it's like just carrying on as normal, just eating better.
Yeah.
Big difference.
Yeah. And like when you, like before you were on the program, like what was your life like then?
What, what, what were you chowing and how were you feeling?
How were you feeling? I ate just about everything, especially bread and pasta. I mean, coming home from work and it's afternoon, it's the easiest thing to make and it's the quickest thing to make, so it's convenient.
And I love my pasta and my cheese and stuff.
How I felt, you know, on the whole, terrible. The last couple of years, Constantly headache.
I wake up with one. I go and sleep with one.
Yeah, I think it. I know I was addicted to Grandpas because that's all I drink. Yeah, I went through about two boxes a month. So that's about sixty odd Grandpas. Um, yeah, and you wake up tired. You wake up sore.
You go to work tired.
Feel sluggish.
Feel thick. And even if you eat it, you feel uncomfortable, and then you might just go sleep.
So it's rinse and repeat. And it was really sucky in the last, I would say, 3 years. It just started getting worse, especially after COVID, working from home.
Yeah, I mean, the kitchen is just around the corner, so just a toast sandwich with cheese and there you go. Yeah.
I think the last 3 years it started becoming bad. Yeah, to a point where No, just couldn't.
Wow. And, and, um, like when, when you, when you first were introduced to my, to my program, like what were your thoughts on it? You know, were you, were you like skeptical or, you know?
Um, yes and no. Uh, yes, in the sense that you always see these ads and you see all these incredible results and you see people commenting, oh, this is so brilliant and this and that. Um, so you see it everywhere. And I think where the difference came in with you is that I know where you come from.
I know.
Yeah.
I know you.
Yeah.
Yeah. I think that made it, uh, if it was a stranger, I potentially would not have trusted it.
Okay.
Um, even though the results were amazing, but I think what, what did it for me is the fact that I knew you.
Yeah. Okay.
Um, and I think that pulled it through for me.
Um, So yeah, I think that's how it started basically.
Right. And you, you finished the program like about a week or two ago, right?
Yeah, towards the end of January.
Yeah. And then, yeah, so it was like last week and then, and then you just, you've continued with the lifestyle.
Yeah.
My wife is also on it now.
Yeah.
We've got my daughter in the same. My son is a bit hesitant, but he's You're starting to pick up on the vegetable thing. No, it doesn't feel like, like effort. It's like you say, part of a lifestyle.
Yeah.
Um, if we go out with the kids to go eat breakfast somewhere, it's not chips and stuff anymore. It's, uh, omelette and something, you know?
So you try and stick to the program even though you go and eat out somewhere.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, but yeah, no, I think we, it's, it's way past the diet. It's now, like you say, it's a lifestyle now.
Yeah. And then, and then like in the, in the like the first week or so of the program, like how did it feel? I know, I know it was hard for you because there was like a coffee thing going on there and, and a grandpa thing, like a painkiller thing for the headaches, you know, and you actually did, you actually did so well, like, like pushing through that because it's, you know, when you're so used to like a routine or even a habit. It was more like a habit, you know, like I got this headache and pump coffee, which was probably causing the headache. And then, and then, you know, painkillers to try and dull the headache, you know, and it just gets— it's like a spiral, you know.
It is. I think the first week was really, really utter hell.
I was going from about 10+ cups of coffee a day down to 1 in the morning. Yeah, because I know when I wake up before I go to work, even I've had about probably two cups of coffee. When I get to work immediately make coffee.
Yeah, getting past that and just drinking water that that was difficult. The first day, two days weren't so bad because I was so so chuffed that I can have bacon and eggs on a diet. Nothing else actually bothered me, and then headaches seriously started.
I remember.
Stomach felt awkward.
It really felt like flu symptoms, sore back, sore arms, everything.
Yes.
And you still told me, no, no, first week is going to be tough.
Yeah.
Which I heard and I didn't believe it until it happened.
Yeah, I thought you were trying to sugarcoat it, but it was really sucky.
But I must say, after about 7, 8 days, it settled. And then you can actually start feeling the difference.
Yeah, now you're more awake.
You actually feel like doing stuff, whereas before everything was too much effort. Yeah, a big difference after about 7-8 days.
Yeah, lekker, man. And then do you reckon it was money well spent?
Oh yes. If I look at previous attempts, then a couple of years ago when I was still training regularly and I was quite fit, I tried to do the same diet and same supplements or everything.
So you look at all that money and you start, but because you're all thick and uncomfortable, there's no one to push you through that. Yeah, yeah.
And it's more of an effort to get something going.
So if I look at all the money I spent before I managed to get hold of you, um, I think this was really well spent because I paid it, we did the 2 months, and now it's a habit.
It's not a, how can I say, it's not a strenuous habit. Um, so you don't have to force it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You just do normal, eat proper and that's it.
Yeah.
Um, so no, I definitely think it was money well spent.
Okay, cool. So it's like, it's like really just now it's getting a bit of knowledge on, on the body and diet and so on. And then it's just like trying to be sensible and responsible about it. You know, it's like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I must say, I was very skeptical about, um, natural medicines and stuff. Yeah, but when you gave the supplements, I actually started reading up on it and I could see what it does. And my biggest thing always was, no, natural stuff takes too long to work, um, rather go for the chemical option because it's, it's made in a lab, engineered to be specific.
And I think the logic thing changed my mind, um.
Oh, good.
I can avoid pills or anything.
Yeah.
Uh, blood pressure meds I haven't taken since I would take it in January.
Wow.
Um, and I've been testing my blood pressure every morning and it's, it's normal.
Wow.
Um, so the blood pressure issues are gone.
No way.
So, I mean, it makes sense and all you have to do is just do a bit of research on top of what you said and it sort of confirms that you're not busy talking through, you know, just making shit up as you go along. You're actually—
Yeah, yeah, exactly. It's a well— it's a well-researched, well-researched program, you know. You know, we obviously try— we've got so many different people that we deal with, the guys like you, different, different kinds of people, you know, and we've got to try and accommodate everybody. And we've seen— I wouldn't say we've seen everything, but we've seen almost everything because, you know, I mean, I must say, probably daily, Something new comes up with a with one of my clients, you know, like okay, listen, this is happening with me now, you know, and and we but yeah, I mean, you know, like it's it's like kind of standard, you know, anything happening with the skin, it's usually like liver, you know, so we know what to do there. And you know, headaches is is usually like a mineral problem, like lack of electrolytes and you know stuff like that. So yeah, it's it's it's like pretty easy to to handle. to handle all of our clients like that. And, and do you feel that, like, after doing the program, now that it's like moving forward, like this is going to be a way of life, or?
Yeah, I think so. Like I say, it's not strenuous to do the program. It sort of comes easy and naturally. And yeah, you get so used to eating decent food. Um, it's definitely becoming a lifestyle. Um, like I said, even the Texas when we go out now is you think, oh, I can't, I shouldn't eat this, I should rather go for that. So it even leads to interesting choices at the restaurant. Um, yeah, especially when you go, yeah, it's also more fussy when you go buy food because now you actually start looking at the label, um, which before I never used to do it. Yeah, I definitely think it's, it's easy to turn it into a lifestyle, but it's something that has to come from the person doing the, the program.
Yeah. Something that you can sell and you can profess, but I think the person doing the program needs to make that decision and also do regular homework in addition to what you, what you give and what you help with.
Yeah.
And I think that will sort of reinforce it becoming a lifestyle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
And, and, um, regarding like the coaching, uh, through the program, how did you find it? Did you find like, um, it was easy to follow the coach? Or, you know, um, like, was I forceful, or did I, did I keep it light and still get you to, to get through everything? Or how did you find me as a coach? Like What what was you can be honest about this. I'm a big boy.
To be honest, it wasn't stressful.
It was really easygoing.
You are easy to chat to. I noticed the first month or so there was a regular need for checking in and follow up.
After a month, you sort of. Let off a bit, but you still did your follow-ups. I remember I think it was the first or second week I was on the program.
We had a meeting at the bike club, a monthly meeting, and I was still very proud of myself because I just had one beer. And I told you, I had a beer. Impressed with that, so I felt guilty. So the next time we had a meeting, I just said, "No, no, no, I'll just have water." So like I say, it was. You won't push you or force you, but you sort of made it clear what the consequences was of what you, what you're doing.
Yeah.
Because I would think, oh, having one beer is not that bad. And then you would explain what's consequences of having a beer, what it does, what the alcohol does.
And you leave that decision up to the person doing the program.
And yeah, again, I think it comes down to how bad you want it. Again, take advice.
So no, I must say, You helped a lot. When I had questions, you were quick to answer. Um, I know once or twice you, you said something and then you would come back a few hours later and say, oh no, eventually I looked up and do this and this and this, try that.
Yeah. And then obviously you also follow up on the advice that you've given. Uh, did it work? I remember when I had some clinic issues, uh, you gave advice and you followed up to see whether it did indeed make a difference.
Yeah.
I think the coaching was excellent.
Excellent.
I'm glad. Yeah, I mean, you were a pretty easy guy as well, because I mean, you, you like, just did like what you were asked to do, and you followed it standardly, you know, and it is like a standard. It's almost like a standard technology, this program, you just basically got to put the boots on and walk in them, you know, and then you'll, you'll get healthy and lose weight. It's like as simple as that, you know.
I think, having said that, I think a lot comes from the person doing the program.
Uh, you can give all the advice you want, you can give diet, give plans, supplements, everything.
At the end of the day, it depends how bad you want to— how bad you want to train.
I think that it sort of makes it easier to take advice and follow guidelines.
Yeah.
So I think that's something that people must realize as well. It's not just Nick doing it, it's Nick helping you and enabling you to do it. Yeah.
And that's something you need to realize very quickly.
Yeah. And, and, um, like, like, is— are you like kind of more optimistic for the future? Like, as far as like health-wise and longevity? And, you know, like, like, I mean, if, if you're, if you're eating unhealthy and you start feeling bad, you know, when you're 45 or 50 and you can feel that the body's getting old, and then you start to think like, how am I going to feel when I'm like 70? You know, like, like, if, if you, if you have to look that far ahead, like, has that changed for you now?
Oh yeah, definitely. Um, I was very worried given my weight and blood pressure and everything.
Yeah, that somewhere along the line you're going to seriously run into issues, uh, health-wise. Um, and like I said, the marks started getting on my legs.
Hey, this doesn't make you worry because the doctor—
oh no, take this tablet, we'll use that treatment.
Yeah.
So I think it did play a role.
And if I see how I'm feeling now, there's definitely More positivity.
However, I must say, if this storm carries on with what they're doing, I'll start eating pasta again because I don't know if it's worth it going on.
No, but I think seriously, there's a big change, more positive.
You feel better, you want to do things.
I mean, when I'm 60, I still want to ride my bike. Yeah, 70, I still want to do stuff. Yeah, which is what I feel now. It's like if I continue this and stick But yeah, you know, stay true to it. I can't see that it will be an issue.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, cool, man. So, so, um, that's pretty much all I— all the questions I had for you. And, um, I'm, I'm glad, I'm glad you, you're also winning the weight loss contest with your bunch of mates there.
They're not. I know.
They won't be anywhere near you. There's no way.
No, because we do this every now and again. Then for 2, 3 months, there's a weight loss challenge and the guys run. We post the results on a WhatsApp group. Uh, you know, so normally I kick off with a bang. First week, 2 weeks, I'll lose 1 or 2 kilos and then I just revert back. Too much issues, too much hassle. But now I'm, yeah, I'm working. explore with them and they're not too impressed.
Yeah, I mean, they can't be anywhere near to you. That's awesome. Yeah, we've actually got quite a— yeah, we've got quite a few families that come on. Like, I've got a family in the Northern Province that I'm doing at the moment. It's 2 sisters and then their husbands, and it's the men against the girls, you know. And like, these guys are going for it. And we thought the men were going to take it, but these girls are losing weight wholesale. I'm telling you. So it's— and I've got a— I've got another— I've got another family that are going to start this. Mom and dad and the daughter and the son, and they're going to start with us at the end of the month. And they've also got this competition thing going on about who's going to lose the most weight.
And it's—
yeah. And it's— and that's what I like with the program is I like to keep it like a game. You know, it's got to be fun. You know, like it's not always fun, but try and make it as much fun as possible, you know.
Yeah, and I mean, it's also extra motivation. You don't want to— you sort of start checking each other's diets.
Oh, you can't eat that, or you can't do this.
So it's good competition.
It adds to the whole program.
Yeah.
So it's very good. And also, especially families.
I mean, it's pointless 3 out of 4 eating right and the 4th one eats whatever.
Yeah.
Because eventually you look at his food and you think, yeah, I'd really like the hamburger, but you know.
to keep these in the house, you sort of just leave it. Yeah, I think for families it's good to do it together, um, good to have competition as part of the whole thing, really adds that motivation.
Yeah. All right, Lekker Eugene, thanks so much for doing this and, uh, having a chat to us. And I'm so glad that you're doing well. Um, you're looking good, your face is looking good, you know, compared to that first photograph you sent me. And I look at your face now It's not just slimmer. It's like your eyes are bright, you know, your, your skin's nice. You've got a nice texture.
You know, it's, it's like, even though it works, when I look at my ex's photo, my ex's photo, I still look like a potato.
Now you look like a potato chip.
Yeah.
No, as I say, it's a huge difference. To go back now would be just flat stupid. So yeah, what of a lifestyle?
Exactly. All right, cool. Thanks for that then, Eugene. We'll chat again. We'll stay in touch. And I'll post this. I'll post this podcast and let's see what the— let's see what the people have to say.
Okay, cool.
All right.
Stay well, Nick.
Yeah, lekker, my bro. Go well.
Bye.
Bye.
