In this monologue, Nick Howarth of Best Body Health Coaching critiques the supplement and food industries, emphasizing that most products are driven by marketing and profit rather than efficacy or safety. He argues that supplements are ineffective without a proper diet because the body’s cellular mechanisms must be functioning to absorb nutrients. Howarth highlights common low‑quality ingredients—such as ascorbic acid instead of whole‑food vitamin C, petroleum‑derived B vitamins, non‑bioavailable forms of vitamin E, and added sugars or sweeteners like maltodextrin, sucrose, dextrose, dextrin, and aspartase—that can negate any health benefit and may even be harmful. He explains that during fat loss, stored toxins are released into the bloodstream, stressing liver health, and that targeted detox‑support supplements can aid this process. Howarth promotes his coaching program, which combines a corrected diet, vetted high‑quality supplements, and detox support to ensure the body can properly assimilate nutrients and improve overall health. He urges viewers to scrutinize supplement labels, discard low‑quality products, and consider his program for guided nutrition and supplementation.

Hey, so it's Nick Howarth here again from Best Body Health Coaching. I wanted to talk to you about supplements and the marketing of supplements. So I go on about marketing a lot because, you know, this whole food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, all of it is based off marketing. Most of these products don't work or they are harmful, so you've got to have a look at it from that point of view, and you've really got to not just take it for granted that when you buy a health supplement that it's going to be healthy. So the other thing that you really need to look at is a supplement is really worth nothing if you don't have the correct diet. So there are certain mechanisms and functions in the body that have to be functioning properly for you even to absorb these supplements. So you may have found that you've been sold a whole bunch of supplements and there's been not that much change in the body, and the reason for that is that the cells are not absorbing the supplements at the rate that they should do, and the only, only way that you can get those cells to do that is with a correct diet. It's the only way. There is no drug, there is no supplement that's going to do that for you. You have to start eating healthy and you have to bite down hard on that bit and get through a program that's going to get your cells accepting nutrients and dense nutrients. Not just think that you can take a pill, because that's the Western way now, you take a pill and it fixes everything. That isn't the case. If it's in pill form, it's probably not going to do that. You have to, have to, have to change the fuel that you put into your body on a daily basis. So think with that. The other thing you have to look at is the health supplement industry has also kind of become, not all of it, but A lot of it has kind of become a profit-based industry. So they're looking for growth and yields on all of their products, which is fine. We're all in business, so we all know that. It's not— I don't have a problem with that. But when they compromise with the quality of their product to make a profit and then lie to you about the quality of their product, that's what I have a problem with. So I have— we've put thousands of people through our program, and I've had so many different kinds of supplements come before me through my clients. When we get people onto the program, they say, yeah, I'm on all these healthy supplements, and they send me these pictures, and I'm flabbergasted at what rubbish they put into these supplements. And they literally are these added other ingredients are worse for you than any health benefit that that supplement can have. You have things like, for instance, you know, they sell you a vitamin C product, and I don't know if you've ever experienced this, but you take this vitamin C product and they say, and you take 5,000 milligrams a day because you've got a cold or the flu, and it changes nothing. All it does is give you explosive diarrhea. The reason for that is because it's not vitamin C at all, it's a very small component of vitamin C called ascorbic acid, and it's not even a great component of vitamin C, and it's just one of them. So you're not getting the benefits from that supplement, however you're being led to believe that it's very good for you. So I don't want you falling for these things. Most vitamin B products out there that you get on the shelf are actually not for prolonged use or chronic use, they're like an acute handling, But most of them are made from petroleum products, so that's kind of what you're putting into your body. That's not going to be good for you over the long run. You need to get your fat-soluble B vitamins, your fatty-based, naturally occurring B vitamins, and you can get them. There are certain types of vitamin E that your body can absorb and certain types of vitamin E that your body just doesn't absorb. So you have to know what you're doing when it comes to supplements. So on our program, we balance out that diet fuel type of thing so that the body starts to absorb and assimilate those supplements that we prescribe to you on the program, and so that you can get the benefits. We also have supplements that handle any kind of detoxification that's happening in the body, while you're on the program, because obviously while you're burning fat, there's toxins stored in that fat that goes into the bloodstream and makes you feel bad. So we have all these things, and those toxins can obviously play a role with liver health. So we make sure we get your liver sorted out and all of that. And once your body has kicked out of the toxic diet type of thing and kicked into like, now it likes the healthy stuff, funnily enough, You start to like the healthy stuff too, because remember, this is just your body, you know, so you don't want your body telling you what to do, you tell it what to do, you get it in line and then it starts to obey. So that's the deal with the supplement things that you're finding out there on the shelves. I'm not saying all of them are like that, there's a lot of good supplements out there and we find them, we make sure that that's what we make our clients take, but you've got to be careful. So know what the other ingredients are in your supplements and what they do to your body. So, you know, watch out for the grain, watch out for the maltodextrin, watch out for the sucrose, watch out for the dextrose, dextrin, aspartame. All of these blooming things are just horrible for you. So, okay, cool. I hope you've got something out of this video, and I hope you have a good look at your supplements and dump the ones that have the rooibos in. Okay, cool.
