EASY Refrigerator Makeover! Organization and Restock

A complete fridge and freezer overhaul: pulling everything out, tossing expired items, adding labeled bins, and creating zones for produce, leftovers, and meal prep. The result is better visibility and less wasted food.
Stay tuned to learn about the giveaway associated with this video. It's a good one. Hi there. In today's video, I'm going to jump right into a complete overhaul my refrigerator by doing a full clean out, organizing and lastly, restocking. If you're in need of organization in your refrigerator, I hope this video serves as inspiration for you to tackle yours as well. This project is long overdue for our house. We're a large family. As you can see, our refrigerator is out of control. I find that we often buy things we already have because we can't see them. And we also have food that goes bad because it gets buried and we forget about it. For this new reconfiguration, I want to make sure that the focus is on easy access to all of our berries and fruit. We have clear visibility to all of our produce. We have a designated spot for leftovers or takeout that the freezer has some sort of space management because right now everything just gets piled in and everybody closes the door real quick hoping that it'll close. And I also want to make sure that I get some labeling system in place so that the family knows where to put things once it's done. Once the organization's all done. To start the project, I pulled everything out of the refrigerator. Thankfully, we have a second refrigerator that I was able to store all this in. But if you don't have one, just use a cooler and make sure all your food stays cool while you're working on your project. Taking all this food out of here reminds me of those old movies or cartoons where you'd have a tiny car and the door would open and a whole bunch of clowns would come out and you'd have 20 clowns coming out of this tiny car. That's how I kind of feel about my refrigerator and the amount of food coming out right now. Before putting the food in the secondary refrigerator, I did a quick sort and pulled out any food that was out of date or that we no longer wanted. This was the pile that we're getting rid of.

I did a quick test fitting of all of the different bins that I had and organized the food into the different bins. It was about an hour long Tetris game, but I think I like the way that it turned out. Now that I know what bins I'm going to use, I wash them and set them aside so they're ready to go back into the refrigerator. For the giveaway, I'm going to give away one of you a gift card so that you can buy some bins to help you with a project like this. See the video description on how to enter the giveaway. I hope you get it. Having labels was really important to me so I used my cricut and created these labels. I labeled most of the bins. There are a few that could have multiple uses depending on maybe the season of fruit or type of food we want to store. So those I left unlabeled. This is my first time putting fruits and vegetables into different containers than I purchased them in. Do you do this? If you do, do you wash them first or do you wash them as you use them? I decided to wash them when I use them because I'm afraid that they may spoil quicker if they've been washed. So please comment below and let me know. I'm all ears and love to hear how you do it.

Organizing the freezer is probably the most exciting part of this overhaul for me. I approached it by putting in different containers to help keep food contained and from sliding around and on the left hand side, I'm designating that for all of our meal prep meats and any other breakfast sausages or anything else that we store in the freezer. On the right hand side of this bottom drawer it's going to be dedicated to all of our frozen fruit and vegetables. This should help keep this drawer nice and tidy. In the top drawer of the freezer right now there's a lot of meal preps and we need to eat those and make sure we don't end up with so many of those in the future because it's taking up a lot of space in our freezer. So but for now this is how I'm going to organize it.
Sam it.
Our refrigerator before was jam packed and we didn't even know what we had in it. I absolutely love the the refrigerator now. It is so simple and we're able to find everything that we need. We didn't need all that stuff and there was so much stuff that had gone bad. So I'm so excited to try out these new containers, get feedback from my family and I hope that we're able to keep it nice and organized like this and we're able to ensure we don't waste food and we have easy access to the food we want. So thanks for joining me and I'll see you next time. Bye.
